The Advocacy:
The internet has become one of the most powerful medium of communication . Sometimes simply knowing the situation is not enough. As technology advances, the human brain’s capability to do more take a leap as well. Unfortunately, there are some individuals who are “smart” enough to take advantage on other people’s weaknesses.
Weconnect Inc, considered as the first ever online advertising and network marketing company in the country, believes that threats online leading to abuse can be significantly reduce if the society knows what to do. With more than a million internet users everyday, and without a solid advocacy campaign and laws to protect them, the Philippines can be the next hub for online abusers.
“500k Punches against Cybercrimes” is an advocacy campaign that aims to develop the society’s awareness against the potential threats of the online world.
Analysis: Strengths and Weakness of the Campaign
Strength
As per survey and research, WeConnect Inc.’s “500k Punches against Cybercrime” is the first ever cybercrime advocacy run/campaign not only in the Philippines but worldwide. There are indeed some advocacies mentioned before but all of these are only done online.
Being the first cybercrime campaign in the world, both local and national government agencies are willing to participate and lend a hand for the success of the event. Together with minor and major sponsors, it is expected that the event will also be included in the GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS as well.
The event will be announce to the public via press conference wherein members of the media and the press will be present to give the campaign a boost not for both national and international audience. Ambassadors of the campaign are respected individuals from different disciplines who believe that online abusers should start learning their lessons soon.
Aside from having the needed in-house and outside support, the location where the event will be held, Quirino Grandstand, is also one the most popular places in the country. This means that aside from having our target audiences join, there is a high possibility of guests joining in the event on the day itself.
Weaknesses
Like any other first timers, “500k Punches against Cybercrime” advocacy campaign is not easy. Fortunately we have found and coordinated with the right people to talk to – to make this event as flawless possible.

Good luck! Our group will support your run/advocacy.

______________________________________
It is with deep regret that I tell you friends that I have been scammed by the organizers of the 500K Runners VS Cybercrimes, Jayant Jared Era, Michael Matawaran, JC Lao Carillo and Kristoff Suilan.
They are new at the FUN RUN circuit and wanted to raise funds for their ailing pyramiding company in Boni EDSA Mandaluyong City. WeConnect. Ground floor Roscar Building, 81 EDSA.
Sorry to all that I have referred or introduce to these pack of wolves in sheep’s clothing.
They do not have the capacity (financial) , resource, organizational skills and experience to run an event , especially in Marathon circuit.
Please refrain from doing business with them as they will use you, your time, money and contacts for their own personal gain alone. Do not buy ticketnet tickets to register for the Fun Scam Run of the year.
Please pass on this post or message to everyone in your network.
I have alerted the media for an expose of Jared’s team of syndicated criminals.
Again my apologies for unleashing this monster to the public because I made the Media Launch, Fashion shows at Dolce and other promo activities possible. I hope to rectify the good deeds and well intentions that has lead to this Fun Run Fiasco.

WECONNECT INC. VS.JOEL CAPCO – FUN RUN SCAM
This is an official statement from Weconnect Inc.’s Management:
First of all, we would like to confirm that our event “500k Runners vs. Cybercrimes” is definitely not a scam. We have been informed that Mr. Joel Capco is spreading rumors against Weconnect Inc.’s Cybercrime Busters event “500k Runners vs. Cybercrimes”.
We would not like this matter to go on public because we’re still considering the good relationship we have with Mr. Capco before. However, we are releasing this statement because we are forced to do so.
The Real Story
Mr. Joel Capco was introduced to the team by Weconnect Inc.’s Vice President Michael Matawaran. He was then introduced to Mr. Jayant Jared Era, Weconnect Inc.’s CEO. He told them that he has a lot of media connections and can help the team in gathering media partners, sponsors etc. After a good talk, he (Mr. Capco) decided to join the team whole heartedly (no contracts, just because Mr. Matawaran and him are close relatives). A series of road trips was made by the CEO himself together with Mr. Capco to visit different media companies. In line with this, the group nourished Mr. Capco with cellphone loads, enough food, medicine supplies (because he told us that he is sick). The group also provided him with a new mobile phone to make communications with him easier.
During the events’ press launch, the group handed him P12, 000.00 to pay the media sites that participate in the official launch. Lately, we have been informed that no one has received the pay. By then we realized that Mr. Capco is just using the company to get into different establishments. After a series of not-so-satisfying work by Mr. Capco, the team decided to remove him, little did we know that Mr. Capco has started to spread rumors to different running groups. Weconnect Inc. in cooperation with PNP-CIDG is now working on filing a lawsuit to apprehend Mr. Capco.
Please be informed that anyone who helped this rumor spread will be apprehended by the law. Because of this, the management is very eager to continue and fight Cybercrimes not just for ourselves who have become a victim but for all the individuals out there.

so we if spread your story abt capco its ok, but if we spread capco’s side of the story…its against the law???
anlalabo nyo chong..,
spare us of your squabbles ok.
better to scrap this run., too juicy hehehe
poor registered runners….
ang labo…sino ba talaga?
check out their site:
https://www.weconnectglobal.com/faq.php
and decide if this is a scam or not… Pass na ako dito. hahaha
ngek’ nasira ang run na ito… kawawa dito ang nakapagregister na kasi nagpprepare na for dec.10 suddenly ma’move na pala to feb.19…….
buti na lng d pa ko nag register d2, coz mas pinili ko ang mag join sa Milo, instead of joining this fun run… Mas pinili ko lng ang mas matimbang sakin ang pagsali sa event that was organized by runrio, kc subok na… Thank god!!!
See you all Guys on February 19, 2012! Takbo na tayong lahat! :)
Hi guys. If I would be in your place, I’d rather believe Weconnect. Why? They would not be brave enough to hold a press launch and broadcast their partnership with PNP-CIDG if they are scam. It’s just a matter of common sense. Some may say that it may be reverse psychology. Think again. These guys are trying their best to keep the issue within themselves. But this Mr. Capco on the other hand is pushing them to their limit. Running or not with this event, does not matter me. What matters to me the most is that I know what and who to believe. Only stupid people will think that this advocacy and fun run is a scam. :) Hooray Weconnect Cybercrime Busters!
Hay naku, pass na ko, d2 after nito ma move, dun ko pa lng napatunayan na scam ‘to, sa reg site pa lng halata na… nag post sila na may registration sa Olympic Village sa Rob Pioneer, tapos when we went there sabi ng staff sa Olympic Village of Rob Pioneer, wala dw advise sa kanila, so ano ibig sabihin nun, at ang mas kawawa d2 un mga nag register na… tapos na move? Mas ok pa nga un Run for Nurses ehh, kc kahit na d natuloy nun November 20, we receive a text from them giving us an option if we want to refund our money or wait for the new scheduled event, ehh ito? talagang kailangan mo mag wait ng feb for the event kc nakapag reg ka na? And kung ok at d baguhan ang organizer nito d nila e-momove ng bigla ang event, kc may mga nag register na (FYI kung may naloko nga sila sa patakbo at sa networking kuno ng business nila)
One of my friends registered here in the run. He was informed about it. Actually, the organizers offer for freebies or refund for those registered runners. I think each of us has their point of view. Let’s not close our minds just because of the things we read or heard. We are made with our own brain to judge things and not to follow other’s judgement. I’m not on any side here but I think each and everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves. If you’re one of the organizers of the run, it is best that you try your hardest to prove that these peeps are wrong. If you are on the other hand, peeps that believe that this run has a hidden agenda on it, then also try your best to open your mind and use your own judgement to determine the truth and reality. :) FYI Not all networking fun run is a scam. I have some friends in the networking circle that wants to organize some runs like this as well. Oh well, let’s see what happens :) Goodluck to the organizers of this event and their haters as well. :)
@Shiels: question – can you please link where the organizers posted Olympic Village – Rob Pioneer as their reg sites pls. :) a link will be very much appreciated. Please try to justify your claims :)
@shiels: again, as I have read these are their official reg sites.

so sa post pa lng nyo about this event halatang d kayo consistent :)
@badz: it’s not even my post. :P
I figured something was up just from the beginning. It was a newcomer in the running circles and they were eyeing to break a world record? Plus all the freebies for the race? I hope the real organizers, whoever they are, can still make this work after. I suggest a campaign with some really heavy media blasting to counter any bad rumors.
Dito sa pinoyfitness na site may nakalagay din na Olympic Village – Robinsons Pioneer na reg site dun sa unang post, tinanggal na.Dito sa link na ito baka gusto nyo din baguhin para hindi makalito. Thanks

@Shiels looks like your just using some name comment. :)
I’m not on any sides. But I think they have updated the event details na. For me, I think that they really want to run for the advocacy and nothing else. :) Cheers guys! Basta ako go ako kung vacant ako that day. We have our own minds to make our own decisions. Don’t be bias or judge the people just because of what others are telling you.
