Congratulations to all finishers of the 2014 7-Eleven RUN 1000 in Aseana City! How was your run!?

Based on observation, hydration was the best! 7-Eleven Run is still the only race where all the major hydration brands come together to support the runners, the weather cooperated as well. But since there was almost 20,000 runners who attended this event, the lootbag and medal collection process seems to have encountered some bottleneck.

Time to share your comments and feedback guys! Remember, your comments are very important to the organizers, it will help them improve this one of a kind race next year. And if you loved the race, leave them a cheer!

Thanks to everyone who dropped by the Pinoy Fitness booth as well!

  1. Tried looking for pf booth pero di ko nakita:(7 eleven run was the best, medyo wala n nga Lang hydration pabalik from Zante to las pinas

    • andun lang ang pf booth sa tabi ng selecta nagpa register nga me kay sir jeff dun 500 php ang payment kaso naubusan me ng reg.form pero its ok lang kc sa reebok trinoma ko nalang kukunin personalized pa sya im looking fwd to it the yellow membership shirt and also nxt year running.fyi pls.

  2. Overall, good race to start the year!

PRO: Over sa hydration during and after the race.

    • I agree about the cheaters… dapat may nagbibigay ng color band or necklace para malaman yung mga cheaters.

I’m definetely joining next year!

      • di na kailangan ng color band (for 16K and 21K) dahil sa pag U-turn andun din yung mag detect sa timing chip. Problema nga lang sa 10K, 5K and 3K.

  3. 3 Sports drink makers yung kinuha ng 7-eleven(Pocari, Gatorade, Powerade), pero naubos agad yung hydration mula 13K hanggang 16K.

    Kainis lang.

Paging Seven 11. Thanks.

  6. Unfair lootbag for 21K finishers like me, same lang ng ibang category. Sana may something special man lang kahit yun medal eh medyo malake sana. Buti pa 5K my special pocari lootbag pa sila.

  7. The biggest fun run ever for the year 2014 whew,,,, la kmi msabi ng mrs. ko kya join kmi ulit next year thanks to the orginizers, sponsors, also to the PATERNO familly mabuhay 711,,,,,,,

  9. Ok run n to. One of the best organized if not the best. Kulang lang disiplina iba runners when it comes to giving others a chance to avail of the frebbies too.

Overall, ok ‘tong run na to.

  12. Im glad that im able to finish strong (16K- 1.32 My Unofficial time).

congested na yung road last 2km before the finish line hirap na tumakbo.

congrats to all…..we did a great job for finishing our category.

  14. mas madami pang hydration for 3k and 5k… I ran a 10k pero pagbalik ko lahat ng 5k nagccrowd sa pocari and powerade. kawawa ung mga 21k and 16k na mas kelangan ung drinks to replenish.

last 3km super congested, hirap magweave and maintain pace. puro 5k na nagsselfie or ppicturan.

lost around 3-8 seconds when crossing finish line, super daming tao nakacrowd.

pumila ng 45mins for the Finishers kit, same same lang pala tshirt ng lahat whether 21k or 3k. may nakita akong iba di naman tumakbo pero nakiclaim nadin kasi super gulo ng claiming. dapat ata sa claiming issurrender ung shoe tag like nike run manila…

okay na sana ung run, much room for improvement. maybe next time iba route ng 3k and 5k and give more priority to 21k and 16k runners.

    • I agree with you about giving the 3K and 5K a different route, MOST of them dont even run. I personally was aiming for a strong finish pero natrafic na ako sa last 3k sa dami ng tao. Although I still made a personal best, naka sub1hour sana ako if not for those crowd.

  15. I pity those people saying that this was the best running event ever, it’s close to obvious that they haven’t ran Milo, Run United, Rexona … I could definitely say that this is one of the WORST event I’ve ran so far, and definitely my last 7Eleven event, mainly for the following reasons:

    1. You have to go thru hell to pay the registration fee. Systems down, incompetent 7eleven staff. Not to mention the delay in releasing the race kits. Very unorganized, sending text messages saying that the claiming of race kits was moved to January 16 instead of Jan 5, then another text message that the last day of claiming was Jan 17, very inconsiderate.

    2. Are you kidding me with the lack of hydration station on the way back from the Cavite flyover until after the toll gate. This is the last leg of the run, and the 21K runners need to hydrate, geez!!!

    3. I don’t especially like that Pocare guy who was leaning on a table, sharing a laugh with someone, drinking his ice cold Pocare Sweat bottle, while the 21K runners pass by in disbelieve seeing that there’s no more paper cup and those Pocare staff don’t wanna hand out the bottles. This guy was looking at the runners, ignoring those people asking for a drink, while he was having the best time laughing.

    4. Now my WORST experience by far was the distribution of medal. Why distribute the medal and the loot bag at the same time??!! That was the longest line I’ve seen in an event, just to get a medal. And the medal in a box, really??? And the attitude of those distributing the medals and loot bags –> no congratulations, with their stoic faces, slow distribution. As a long distance runner, all I want to do after finishing the race is to sit down and take a rest.

    5. Why would the organizer put the photo wall after the distribution of the medals. With thousands of runners, expect heavy traffic along that area. Aseana is not the best place to hold an event, unless you organize the booths in such a way that people don’t crowd a certain area at a particular time.

    6. And what’s with that September 2013 issue of Men’s Health. Are they just getting rid of old, unsold magazines?!!!

I think with 7Eleven bragging about their 1000 stores, they still opted for higher profits from this race rather than a quality event.

On the good side, I like the race route to Cavite. I’m looking forward to those events using this route, except for 7Eleven, this year was my first and last run with them

    • I agree!

DEFINITELY MY FIRST AND LAST 7-ELEVEN RUN! Rate: 3/10

Hopefully next year ma-address nila yon.

    2. RACE: 1st 2km, over flowing ang pocari (may cheering pa sila… nakaka good vibes!), maraming akong nakitang marshals, may ambulance din, kaso pagbalik mas konti yung hydration station… congested din yung last 5km nung nagsama sama na ang 21k, 16k at 10k runners

    =)

  17. congrats to the organizers and the finishers esp. the 16 km runners where i joined
ganda talaga ni isabel daza, didnt see ann curtis

    some comments though-
parking should be allowed along bradco ave since it is closed anyway, medyo hirap sa parking even if you’re early, then the only parking at Bradco was reserved for those with car pass ( this was not mentioned in the website) those who came early paid parking at a far distance (opp. DFA) then the late comers get to park along the road for free!

hydration cups were short along the way going back the pocari guys refuse to give the bottles

and the race route needs improvement – there should be different race routes for each category in such a way that there will be no clogging – and medyo makitid and dark ( accident prone)

then the race kit finisher shirt stinks!

finally, iyon distance for 16 km is it correct? Help

  18. oo nga kakainis yung medal at lootbag claiming di mo alam kung san ka pipila or kung my pila nga ba dapat yung medal sinasabit sa runner after they cross the finsh line den kasumod my mag aabot ng loot bag just like sa milo.. ang gulo nila di organized at sa race track doon sa my coastal mall magulo na kasi humalo na yung mga 5 k and 3k na walang gninawa kundi mag picture…

  20. I had supported the maiden 7-Eleven Run 2013 edition despite the adverse weather condition and mediocre postponement excuses by the race stakeholders. On race date runners were elated by the superior running event quality and the race stakeholders vindicated themselves.

But the recent 7-Eleven 2014 edition can be considered depressing due to the dismal running event quality! Based on actual running experience what had been provided can be considered generic and substandard!

Let me cast a permanent vote by walking away. Good bye 7-Eleven!

  21. Please reserve finisher’s shirts (with corect distance printed) and medals for the long-distance runners’, as thes are their sources of pride. These runners worked harder and thus should be treated with more more reverence. They trained with commitment/dedication, trained longer and more intelligently. Kung baga, parang honor student sa school.

Sure you can the more average runners also deserve encouragement, that’s why everyone has the lootbag. But the more serious runners should have more rewards.

    • More than the pride, honor, or what have you, humility and perhaps respect for all runners regardless of the distance they are running, is what we should get or learn from any running event. I presume you are an “elite” runner, so consider your self more blessed than others. And you should be thankful for that. Everybody has a right to join and run!

      • Speaking of respect, regardless of the distance they’re running, EVERYONE should at least try to avoid taking pictures in the middle of the road. Everyone has the right to join and run, it may be a fun race, but there are serious people running and hoping not to be blocked by those people who doesn’t follow the basic rule of courtesy. And yes, majority at fault are those short distance runners.

  22. good run….

but need more on organizing the distribution of the medal and lootbag.. specially on the 21K distance….. (ganda ng cooling down sa 21K PILA NG MEDAL&lootbag!!!!)
3 or more line should be organized for all categories para hindi pila balde and loot bag at medal….

hope 711 take serious actions for next year run.

expecting 711 year2015 to be great run and organized claiming of medal/loot bags.
    salamat

    btw
buti pa ng 5K runners my special bags and etc from pocari…..

  23. Comments for the run:

    1. Route: nice, best weather for running.
    2. Hydration: Mostly adequate. Except for the stretch from the 16-18km. Firstly, lacking of cups. then, no more water/gatorade/powerade/pocari.
    3. Race organisation. First 16kms. Ok. But last 5 km was very bad. With 3k 5k and 10k runners crowding the race route. it’s hard to run the home stretch.
    4. Loot bags & medal distribution: Total disaster. Runners don’t know where to line up. People waiting in line for 30 mins or more. Must address this in the future.
    5. Finisher’s shirt: Disappointing. Size is free size. I had to give mine away because it doesn’t fit. Also cheap material, (cotton/polyester mix, like company christmas giveaways)

Overall: Fair. Many things could still be improved.

    • This is my first “official” 10K run for 2012 and I generally agree with the comments of vicrunner. The running community deserves something better. Good luck it the next event!

  25. Congratz to all the runners and to 7-11. A one succssful event of the year.

God Bless and happy running!

  26. Ran my fourth 21k and everything was good until the 15k when hell broke loose. I really needed to hydrate at the 15k point not with water but hopefully with a sports drink after eating Snickers to boost me in the last 6k. But then the booth personnel greeted me with ‘Sensya na po wala nang cups at Gatorade, eto na alng po bote ng (1 liter) tubig’. (Seriously, they were offering runners to carry extra weight at that point of the race???!!!) I panicked because I know my body well that at that point I would suffer from cramps because of the lack of hydration. I cramped at 16k, 19k and the last 1k as a result…Despite this, I wanted to finish strong but there were just too many runners from other categories to block your way that I even ran outside the cones and against the vehicles just to give way to walkers and selfie takers. It seems they were really just after the quantity of runners than the quality of the run…It’s about profit from sponsors and not about the runners. Despite having that volume of runners, they give a COTTON finisher’s shirt with no marks of the distance you finished. For just P100 more, a runrio race would ‘spoil’ you with banana, sponge, ice cold water, Gatorade, bigger medal and a very high quality singlet and finisher shirt. I will not join this race next year because of this experience.

  27. It was a good run. Baka siguro first time nila pero nakakabother sya kase kailangan mong umiwas iwas pa. The rest ok naman.

  28. runtime and 7-11: kindly rectify that runner 62093-b of wave b (16k) is a female who crossed the finish line at 6:52 am. she should have been a medalist. runtime encoded her in the male category.

  29. on my watch 2hrs 53mins sana mas maaga kaya lang hell ung layo ng hydration nung pabalik for 21K runner tapos after the race dun ako nag cramps sa haba ng pila sa looth at medal wala ngang designated km sa fin shirt para ka lang tumakbo kahit 3K….

  30. Just my two cents. Those who are worried, don’t mind the cheaters, they’re only cheating themselves, and they know it. Last thing 7/11 needs is ANOTHER line-up . . . for coloured bracelets in the middle of my run – let that one be. Hydration varies greatly across all races, I carried my own and always do. I was thinking maybe I didn’t need to, but apparently I did! Speaking of which, AFTER race … where was the water?? The first drink I found – Coca Cola!? I downed two cups and hurried back to my room (yes, I travelled in for this one) and I didn’t go all the way back for whatever “the booth” is or was. What’s with the two lonely ‘Port-o-lets’ where people need them and the endless line of them too far away from everything?? Bottlenecks – yeah that’s the first time I’ve ever had to line up in a queue to cross a finish line. The marshals were more worried about the next race about to start than the exhausted finishing runners coming in, those runners are fresh . . . let them dodge us!! My Garmin also measured in at 16.25 km and I can tell by looking at my run that accuracy was bang on the money. Anyway I’d rather it a little long than too short. Too bad, my racing shirt is the right torso size but geez! can you cut the neck and armholes a bit bigger. I got an XXL already (and I’m only a Large in North American sizing for Adidas and Under Armour). Finisher shirt? Yup, way too snug. Also too bad, I could have worn it around. Oh well, holiday present it is . . . Rankings? Great! May I at least filter by gender (though age band would also be nice too).

  31. 1st 21km run ko to. Lunod ako sa energy drink. Hehehehe.

  32. I ran 21k, The run was very disorganized, they should have had separate routes for the diff. categories I had a hard time with the congestion during and after the run, had to stop at some points because there were too many people. Also I nearly bumped into other runners because some parts of the route were too dark. The finisher shirts were crap no distance indicated and no available sizes. Also I was expecting it to be dry-fit. I didn’t even know they had other freebies aside from the loot bag because of the congestion. For me the event was a huge dissapointment

  33. Tsk.Tsk. Always comparing other organizers to that Afro haired guy. Tsk.Tsk. Again, apologies Sir Jeff.
Mabilis matatapos at mabilis mo makukuha finishers kit mo.

    • Mental strategy? 5K? Try running 21K and up, then talk to me about mental strategy. It’s a pity that most people aim for loot bags rather that see running as a sports, that requires discipline.

    • i agree with james… and do you know why other organizers are being compared to that afro-haired guy? because the afro-haired guy is on top of the food-chain when it comes to organizing running events (that’s why he’s the organizer of the only AIMS-IAFF certified marathons here)…

3k 5k 10k 21k? poseble pong wla kmi jan…………………………………………………………………

  35. Pocari said freebies were for 5km runners only, duh!?! they should have organized separate event for 5km distance runners,.

  36. ok naman so far sa 5k … medyo crowded but if you do an effort to run faster to be in the front medyo ginhawa na. medyo crowded nga un hydrations kaya di na ako nakigulo. and most of the hydrations were from Pocari Sweat na sponsor lang kaya wag natin sila sisihin. kulang sa WATER stations. distribution of medals and lootbags medyo sablay. panalo ang sponsor booths as usual. overall it’s a fairly organized run lalo if youve been to much worse ones. at the end of the day let’s be happy na we finished safe and sound at may medals and shirts pa to boot.

  37. My first 10k. Ok, masaya, and enjoy. Sana may category sign sa finishers kit distribution. Halo halo.

  40. I have to agree with this. Walang perfect run. Kse our run itself may not be perfect. Have you ran Sante Barley? Mas hydrated naman di hamak sa 7-11 run..
People, just a thought.. dont complain too much about hydration. BRING YOU HYDRATION BELT, and use that.. I have mine kaya di ako mashadong nauhaw and i used it for refill. maraming areas for improvement but mas marami pang worst run kesa dito. i had my own share or complaints. not to harsh nga lang siguro.. And GUYS, we are runners by heart. wag nyo naman i-seperate and 3k runners and 5k runners sating half marathon-ers.. we started in that distance.. di naman agad nag 21k tayo di ba?
    PEACE! Lets just ENJOY! :)

    • grabe nman kung di ka malunod sa dami ng hydration points ok,pero sna nxt time may discipline nmana sa atin mga runners sa pgttpon ng cups or palstic bottles ntin maging responsible garbage thrower tau buti wlang nadulas sa mga ngkalat na palstics cups and bottles sa race route ntin sna discipline and concern for other safety ang isaisip ntin just a reminder sa mga colleague ntin.see u next marathons just enjoy the benefits of running.gbu all.
