    • Sakto po iyan. Aims certified ang milo.

      • HIndi po tlaga sa sakto. starting kilometer 35, namali mali na sila. my watch measured 43.4km.. ung iba 43.8km pa. and after measuring it again in the maps, sobra nga. none of my friends measured 42. lahat 43 and up.

    • @swoosh

    • Not really whining but my Soleus watch registered exactly 43.80 kms. May around 500m differential somewhere around the 30s (kms) which is expected. It looks like ung mga last few kilometers ang napasobra expecially ung distance after the 41K marker. I passed the marker with 10 mins. to spare for a (sub-5 hrs. time) to run the last 1.195 kms and I almost did not make it even though I was not really walking. So, for me, those who raised the issue on the extra distance have a vaild point.

    • i’ve read ur blog sir and we share the same sentiments about the accuracy of the actual distance for FM,,, because as per my Soleus GPS watch it registered 43.79km… why oh why????

      • Sir/ma’am I’m sure sinukat un ng maayos, pero diba pag tumatakbo tau, di naman straight line. minsan nasa left side ng route tapos pag may water station lilipat tau sa right. then sa mga u-turn, minsan di tau sa pinaka likod ng sign, mejo further away pa :)

Now add that for 42km, kaya magkakaron ng increase :)

But congrats and hats off sa di pagsuko. :)

  2. No consideration for the 42k finisher na ang time ay 6:01 to 6:10 man lang…kahit wala na medal. Sobrang dami pang finisher shirt sa boxes. We know meron cut-off..but for heaven sake, be considerate sana. Many finished the whole 42K in that a little over cut off time.

  3. MILO! you did it again! Saludo ako. Such an organized race for a much smaller race fee. Not to mention, the bulk of the participants. RESPECT sa lahat ng finishers whether you made it to the cutoff or not. Kudos sa organizers for being strict with the cut off times. That is the reason why Milo Marathon is what it is today. Made the 21 K Cut off and it was an awesome feeling! Next year sana 42 na :-)

I beat my PR and grabbed home the victory (for me)! :)

Nakakainggit. sana next year makajoin nako ng marathon. My spirit is always ready but my flesh isnt. :)

    • You can do the full next season! Kayang kaya yan! Ganyan din ako last year, I ran 10k and from then on d ko na nakalimutan ang milo medal! I worked for it, did a full Mary this season, and got the gorgeous milo medal!hope this motivates u heheh

May nangyari pa dati baliktad dahil back to back merong nakalagay na km reading heheheh

    • That’s what Im saying..42.85 in my Timex..dami din bumalik in the middle of Buendia, well konsensya na nila yon.

    • kagaya nga ng explanation sa taas… kung tinakbo nyo ng straight line bawat road dito, eksakto lang ang lalabas na distance, human errors are the ones causing inconsistencies. kasi nga along the run, we tend to run sideways pag iinom, sa mga curved paths we sometimes stay on the outer arc, or pag mag overtake or give way sa iba.

milo’s been doing this ever since. dont you guys think none of them checked the validity of the distance they are imposing the runners to finish?

      • i get the point po. pero im sure there is total error sa paglalagay ng marker. kc ung distance sa watch ko matches each kilometer from km 1-34. pag dating sa km 25, doon lang naiba. very obvious siya. after osmena highway mali na yung distance. again its not just road or pag inom or pag iwas sa tao issue. hehe

      • repost ko lang po… sumala yung reply ko

        @Allan

  6. Comparing the event 36th and 37th Milo Marathon, mas organized yung 36th sa baggages. Kawawa yung mga 5k/3k runners since wala silang baggage tents.

In terms of mismong run, drinks are overflowing every station which is good. Naranasan ko kasi last time running the 10k at the 36th Milo Marathon.

One of the big plus though was walang pila para sa mga loot bag. Nakuha ko na agad kasama yung certificate at medal after my 21k run.

Grabe rin yung dami ng 5k runners at naging by batch ang start nila pero sabi pa rin ng kasama ko na sobrang sikip while running the 5k.

Still needs improvement ang RunRio sa pag organize ng Milo in my opinion.

  7. Congratulations to all finishers ..and to the winners!! :)

  8. It was a successful event.dami gatorade and water.pati mga ems ang babait.though meron complaints na ala consideration sa mga nag-over sa cutoff but rules are rules.pag inalis eto eh chaos ang labas.comment ko lang dun sa marshall na nagbigay sa akin ng shirt at parang tinataboy agad yung mga finisher with matching hawi,”brad next time eh wag mo na ulitin yun.konting consideration.karamihan ng late finishers eh nag-cramps na.pde mo na nman sabihan ng maayos.wag mo hawiin o parang itulak kmi palabas.”anyways congratulation sa organizers.di nakakadala sumali sa event ninyo. To God Be The Glory!

  9. Sir i ran 21k last year. I know walang shower dahil malakas ang ulan :)
Its also written in the milo handbook na walang baggage counter ang 5k at 3k :)

      • now ko lg naremember na nasa rules pala na ung 2:30 cut-off time will start after ng last runner na dumaan sa starting line. tama ba? so, ibig sabihin kung ang last runner dumaan sa starting line 5 mins after the gun start and cut-off dapat sa lahat is 2:35 and not 2:30.

“28.Each race category has an official cut-off time that will commence right after
the last runner has crossed the starting line”

sana maliwanagan na tayong lahat… =)

  10. yipee! abot sa cutoff! 2nd time ko lang mag-21K. yung first 21K ko 3:08min then yung ngayon 2:18min. practice lang talaga! tsaka nag-Milo ako kanina pagka-gising ko. HAHAHA! movie marathon naman habang nagpapa-hinga.

  11. Reading the previous comments, here are my sentiments:
    1. Milo Marathon would not be what it is without the cut off times, train for it, respect it.
    2. Distances vary depending on the side of the road you passed, multiply that by 42x and there you see the descrepancy, accept it.
    3. No baggage for shorter distances, that’s how it has been, deal with it.

Milo Marathon is “the” marathon for me being the premier race in the country, supporting the running community since the time it is not yet in vogue. Let us support it.

  12. it was a very good first 21k experience. managed to run 2:09 for 21.6km as stated by my soleus, just as planned (6 minutes /km – my training paid off!). expected na talaga in all races na may difference in distances, kaya i-consider na yun while running. there was a shower somewhere between 19k-20k, it felt good pero bumigat ang shoes ko, hehe! will stay away from that next time. dami hydration station, every other station na ko gumamit, otherwise tumagal siguro ako. there are some comments that were initially indicated in the rules book. there are other not-so-strict races out there nman. so far this is the only race i joined where there were really so many fast runners. quality race talaga, so im glad i did my first HM here.

Parang ganto siguro, “Yehey may medal at finisher shirt ako! Lokohin niyo sarili niyo. I rather salute those who didnt get anything but finished the entire course honestly.

      • Agree ako sa you PD.

Mas masarap ang feeling if you are truly deserving of your hard work.

  15. 1st time to join a marathon so we decided to start with 5k. and it was definitely awesome. although mejo hirap sa pacing kasi nga madaming tao, hirap sumingit. next time will definitely.try for 10k naman.. finally realized the joy of running. lezzgorun! :)

  16. This was the most exciting finish for me. First half, I’m pretty ok. Sub 2:30, not too tired. Then, my legs cramped somewhere at BGC. Had to walk-run from there with thighs as stiff as wood. Making a stop at every medic station I came across. I wouldn’t want to just fall down, and be carried out of the race. Checked my GPS, it was off by about 1km. A bit disheartening, because finish line is farther than I expected. Then along Buendia, another runner told me “1 hour na lang natitira sir”. Could not compute in my head the pace I need to finish on time, as I was tired and in pain. Told my self to just run as steady as I can, no walking. Did a couple of stops at hydration stations asking for ice to apply on my legs (good thing there’s always ice). Last 2 kilometers, a running couple passed me by who cheered “kaya yan bro”. This gave me the feeling that I was not running by myself anymore. We were all there to finish and claim our medals. After the last left turn, marshalls were clapping and telling us 4 minutes left. Few hundred meters from the finish, I saw the crowd cheering loudly as if I were in the last 2 minutes of a basketball finals match. I ran even if I couldn’t bend my legs. I remembering seeing the clock 57, 58, then 59, touchdown! Finished the race at 5:59:20.

Congratulations to all who ran and supported the Milo Marathon. See you again next year.

  17. I was happy with this race. I ran the 10K distance. It was my first time to participate in Milo run. I beat my own PR from Adidas! It was a good thing the route of the 5k runners is different from the 10k, 21k and 42K. I assume this is because they have like more than 29,000 runners. Actually, most are students who participated as a requirement for their NSTP.

The route was great although a bit dark at the first few meters. I forgot to bring my hydration so I was so thankful for the ample water and Gatorade supply. The route got a little tricky as we passed by Roxas Boulevard. That’s were the 21K runners are running loops.

It was nice of the BFP to give a “shower” with their fire truck on the way back.
There’s quite a number of photographers taking shots about a kilometer before the finish line. Thank you in advance!

I have huge respect to Milo and it’s organizers. One day when I’m ready to run the 21K or even the full marathon, I’ll make sure I train enough to reach the cut off. No excuses.

Needless to say, this event is for everyone: for kids going for their first running medals, for students fulfilling their NSTP requirements, for serious middle and long-distance runners taking up the challenge of finishing under the cut-off.

    Well done!

  18. Since this is my 1st time sumali sa fun run 5k muna tinakbo ko and with my friends… I really enjoy this. Next time 21k naman target ko… :)

    thnks pre… :-)

    • Sana lahat basahin muna ‘to. This is also why pansinin niyo yung mga elites, di sila masyado pagewang-gewang. Straight as mush as possible ang “lines” na kinukuha nila.

Good job posting the link sir!

      • pag naka curve ka ng ilang beses 1 meter each curve ng takbo mo.. lihis dito lihis doon.. sao nakarami kana.. pag naka 10 curve im sure 1meter x10 naka 10meters kana.. instead yung kalaban mo nasa likod mo..eh nasa harap mo na cya..pag naghahabulan kayu cyempre ilang meters karamihan ang pagitan nian..so tama yung sinabi ni sir NewbieRunner “Straight as mush as possible ang “lines” “. :)

  22. sana next time may limit ang 5k participants. di naman kasi lahat tumatakbo. and set sana ng rules pag slowdown ka na e take right na to allow runners to pass to your left. ang dami pang bata na naglalaro.. haaay

  23. I run 21k… beating the cut-off by 3 seconds (2:29.57)… & beating my PR 3:06(RU2)… without proper training pa… biglaang 21k run pa ito… I decided to run 21k 5 days before the race….

  24. I enjoy my 1st MILO and my 1st 42k.. di ko man kinaya ang qualifying time.. masasabi ko na di pa din masama ang tinatakbo ko…pasok pa din sa cut off… rest lang ng unti at simulan na ang training…TNX MILO

  25. finished my 1st marathon, i never was a strong runner, just a strong will, but this event was very humbling, hats up to all the finishers, specially to those who continued to run even after the cut-off time. ’till next time

  26. finished my 21km @2:16 time, so far this is my best PR although not satisfied with it. the run is ok, hydration ok, medyo lack lang ng marker for 21k, i think mas napriority lang marker for 42k. so far ok lahat naenjoy ko naman yung run. till then mga fellow runners.

  27. My first 21k! Takbo lakad an ginawa ko kahit walng training for 1 week due to injury sa adidas.

Anyways congrats sayo. :)

  29. My first 21K – finished at 2hr 50min, thanks to the cramps I developed at 16th Km (pero nung nag-Adidas KOTR ako, 2hr 38min ang time ko dahil may pine-pace akong friend).

Lesson learned: more training and quality rest.

  30. Iba talaga ang Milo! Eto talaga yung takbuhan na kelangang magfocus ka sa bawat kilometro na tinatakbo mo upang malampasan yung cut off time. Nung nakita namin ung orasan at around 2:27, something sprint na talaga kame ng asawa ko papuntang FL, haha, at last we clocked in 2:29:xx for our 21k, 1 minute before the cut off time. Kudos Runrio. :)

  31. I just wanna share this: last RU2, there’s this person who kinda mocked me for being in the 10K category, compared to her who joined the 21K considering that she only started running this year (a 3K, 10K and 15K).

When I checked the results of RU2, she finished at 3hr 45min (not sure of the exact time, but it’s past 3hr 30min).

Haha! 2hr 50min sa 21K? Sensya na.

Yun lang, thank you talaga Milo! :)

    • well, meron talagang ganyan.

  32. It’s my first ever 21K run…sobrang sarap ng feeling you reached the finish line at 2:16:53. Two weeks of training lng. That’s what you called PERSEVERANCE and DETERMINATION. Thanks to Milo nakaka-challenge tlga..I really thought na di ko matatapos ung race. Thanks to my Adidas running shoes di mo ko binigo. Nakalaro pa ko ng Volleyball after the race and we won in straight sets. See you guyz on December for the final leg. Congrats to all Runners our there!! =D

  33. After months of training to try to break the 2:30 21km barrier, I fell short because of one lousy “bunot” in the middle of the road. kaka-1km pa lang, out of the race na! Is it the responsibility of the race organizers to make sure to clear the path of the runners during the race?

  34. 2:26:xx for my 21k comeback run. Not bad for having to restart my training after stopping 2 years ago. Well I look like a dead man walking(running) after hearing the “last 5 minutes” of the organizer running towards the runners. It was well organized but the issue is to those who eat the bananas around the 12k mark and throw their peels on the street. That can cause some real injury if someone slips on it. Will look forward on running again after graduating. Maybe 42k? Haha!

Hands down to the 42 and 21k finishers! Like my lolo(marathon runner) said once… it’s not about the medal, it’s about the experience of finishing the race.

  35. Sa mga nag.payo sa akin.. Thanks :)… Hindi ako umabot sa cut-off time, sorry. this is my best PR for 21K (2:59:23) compared sa RU2 na 3:22:16. Sana mgimprove pa this comming RUPM and sana din sa Milo Finals maabot ko ang 2.5hrs…

    • Kaya mo yan!!! kunti training pa sir.. ako 2mins lang lampas ko… dati mga 12mins ngayun medyo na improve kunti nalampasan ko PR ko ngyun….dahil napaghandaan ko kunti unlike my first 21K.. Good luck sir…

  36. I ran my second Milo 21K and missed the cut-off again but just like last year, was surprisingly awarded a medal and a certificate. Lucky me! My problem is, how can I get rid of CRAMPS? I suffered cramps at the 18K mark last year. Yesterday, it was on the 16K mark. Tips anyone?

    • Baka po you are over-exerting yourself. Proper hydration, stretching and rest before the event goes a long way din. :) One of the best advices na binigay sa’kin nung newbie pa’ko is huminto sa LAHAT ng water station and hydrate appropriately. It also gives your leg its most needed “reset” from cumulative trauma that prolonged running is giving it.

      • I guess nag-over exert nga ko. 40min n lng kc nsa 15k p lng ako. Sana nga nagrelax n lng ako baka umabot pa. I missed the cut-off by 13 mins. from 16k mark to finish lakad n lng talaga. Anyway, thanks ng marami sa advise!

    • tips to avoid Cramps: Never miss any station, hydrate yourself, splash some water on your face, some drink salt sticks, i always carry one in cases of emergency, energy gels are ok to take within the duration of the run but make sure to choose the right flavor as some can make your stomach upset. try it first during training.

      3. kung full or ultra, usually nag gatorade loading ako 1 day before. mga 1 to 2 liters, inumin dahan dahan. Side effect ?

Sabi mo sa km 16 to 18 lumalabas, so dapat maraming training runs na lagpas 18k.

  37. From my experience lang, drink lots of Gatorade a few days before the race then dynamic stretching before the actual race. But this is my routine ha so better experiment din with what others will tell you. Good luck!

  38. Kudos to all!!! It was really a great run! Kahit sobrang pagod tuloy pa rin… So proud of myself! Finished the 21k before the cut off! Time is 2:21 hrs and to think that this run has 2 flyovers back and forth (4 hills in total… tama ba?) I beat my PR 2:43 hrs in RU2 which is a flat road run… yay! sobrang sarap ng feeling! Another milestone achieved! ^_^

thanks bro and regards… baka next year na ulit ako sumali ng race :-)

  40. just to share lang po ha. kase sumasali tayo sa long distance run like full marathon or much longer distance. we do train and prepare para dito. i guess walang rason for us na mag reklamo kung ang distance ng tinatakbo natin is much far than what we are thinking. mas challenging and mas masarap sa pakiramdam na matapos yung run na malalaman mo na mas malayo pala sya sa distance na iniisip mo. we do join this marathon to challenge our selves, push our limits and to be victorious. so i guess wala pong rason for us na magreklamo sa distance. opinyon lang po.

  41. off topic.. baka lang merong interested, to swap my LARGE 42km finishers’ shirt to your MEDIUM or SMALL size shirt. text me: 0999 712 7631

  42. Yes! I made it before cutoff. My 2nd FM. Beat my PR last year sa RUPM which is more than 6hrs. Thanks to MILO and Runrio for this very organized run.

  43. yes natapos ko 21K in 2hours..not sure sa time still waiting for the official result,,,not bad for my first 21K..konti training pa next MILO ko 42K n!!! thank you MILO thanks RUNRIO..

  44. A well organized and successful run, my very first marathon and i did it ….yon lang medyo malalaki ang sizes ng mga finishers T-shirt. Maybe next time sirs measurements of tariff sizes will be posted on the web also….Thanks

  45. hmmm… sa observation ko sa mga milo marathons, 10K up lang ang may baggage at dinisclose naman sa form na wala nga baggage ang 5K… and since nagstart din ako sa 5K, by wave na talaga ang sistema sa ganung distance, yun nga lang, may pagka slight gulo sa waves…. but in any case, the 5K distance is purely fun and Im sure nag enjoy ang mga tumakbo ng 5K… the very same enjoyment na naramdaman ng mga tumakbo ng 10K up… :)

  47. hay salamat nakakalakad nako ng maayos today… hahaha… salamat sa R.I.C.E.
lessoned learn… wag tatakbo pag walang training… at wag ipilit pag may masakit… hehehe… naka survived naman ako… ng enjoy at happy ako sa 2:31 ko na tiime for my first 21k!… hehehe eto na ang simula ng 21k ko… kaya natin to!!!

  48. di ako maka-move-on dun sa baboy sa may finish line na naninigaw ng “NEXT TIME BREAK THE CUT-OFF TIME”.

    • I don’t think ung marshall na malaking mama sa finish line na wine-wave ung kamay sa mga dumating after 6.01 hrs understands at all the essence of running. Coz’ kahit di pasok sa cut-off, meron pa ring sense of accomplishment kung umabot ka sa finish line and in that no one can deny that you are a worthy “FINISHER”.

  49. Finished this 42km withput any injury and a new PR. My most satisfying run to date. Congrats to all runners. Job well done to the organizers. See you next year. :-)

  50. Barely made it to the 21k cut off.

Do they melt it and use it to mold future medals?

    • May 21k pa sa Provincials at may 21k rin sa December Finals. Para dun yung excess na medals. Pagdating sa Finals mas maluwag sila dun sa cut off ng 21k, parang last year kahit lampas 10 minutes na ata after the cutoff eh nabibigyan pa ung iba. :)

  52. Stop whining like a little pigs. Rules are there to follow. You do know na portable GPS yan at erroneous yan.

You got my respect!

  53. in general the event was a success for me ha..since this is my 1st time to join a full pledged organized marathon way back 1992 (so 21 years ako di tumatakbo) and my first time to run 21km after 21 years….did it in 2 hours 29 minutes…pasok sa cut-off!!!YEAH!!!!

Just my opinion kasi ako lumampas ako sa 1min pero ang start ko is 2mins after gunstart.

      • avril on July 30, 2013 at 4:01 pm said:
now ko lg naremember na nasa rules pala na ung 2:30 cut-off time will start after ng last runner na dumaan sa starting line. tama ba? so, ibig sabihin kung ang last runner dumaan sa starting line 5 mins after the gun start and cut-off dapat sa lahat is 2:35 and not 2:30.

“28.Each race category has an official cut-off time that will commence right after
the last runner has crossed the starting line”

sana maliwanagan na tayong lahat… =)

  54. Congrats to all the runners esp those who made it to the cut-off time. For those who don’t, keep training! Soon you guys will be crossing the finish line on-time.

Wasn’t able to run but definitely will be back in December! See you guys on the road!

Run to beat the time. Try to compete with yourself not with the other runners. :)

  55. Thank U sa Lahat ng:

    SALAMAT.. Great 42k.

  56. Congrats to all the runners!! This will be my most memorable 21k race. 1 day before the race had a flu like symptoms..then prior to that wasn’t able to train for 2 weeks after my takbo.ph 21k run.. Due to knee injury.. Meaning no training at all..on the race night was hesitant to run..thinking I may not able to finish the race..but I decided to go with it..mind over matter..then gun start..first 10k I’m on my normal pace..but when I reached 15kms mark..I’m catching my breathe my knees are giving up on me..due to poor conditiong I guess..1km to go my time is 2:20..literally I’m pulling my legs to the finish line and luckily made it still the cut off.. Finished it 2:26..way above my normal time..it was a well deserved finished and medal for me..that after I cross the finish line went straight to my car that I couldn’t stand aymore for few minutes..overall it was a great race for me..what an experience..

Sharing this for all the runner that determination is as important as training.. Set your goal and reach it no matter what..

    Thank you MILO!!!

  57. @Mark – runner_PH

Copy/paste ko to Mr. Mark para everytime na tatakbo ko ng half-marathon babasahin ko to b4 race day. Cguro biggest factor yung lack of practice kya ako ngka-cramps. Once or twice a week lng kc ensayo tpos longest na yung 10K. Very helpful talaga!

    Thank you so much!

    • No problem.

  58. Had my very first 21K ! crossed the finish line 2:33 pero may medal pa rin ako .. had 5K run 2 weeks before the event, un lang practice ko .. x____X bad i know still na amaze ako nakaya ko siya .. i think i started the race na tama kaya tuloy tuloy takbo ko with minimal brisk walk lang .. see you sa RU Philippine Marathon.. another 21K for me again.. :D

  59. 2012 Milo Manila was my first organized run and it was only 5k , a year later, 2013 Milo Manila, it is still my first but this time its 42K @ 5:25! Thx Milo ^_^
    Congrats to all ^_^

Last year mas maayos-ayos pa.
