  1. Run United 2 the longest distance 21k or 32k?. I hope the 10k runners wont merge with the 21k runners. And i hope they get more photographers like photovendo that did last milo finals

      • @huwann

  2. paano po ito “Priority Registration for Run United 1 21K Runners: April 10 – 14, 2013 (only at Riovana BGC)”

  3. For the priority reg, di we have to bring our bibs or would they have a database to determine na i ran the 21k for the first leg?

  4. @zipzapZep…you’re right..grabe yung usapan last time sa leg 1..they’re selling their 21K for $100..grabe parang benenta na rin nila yung honor nila…parang hindi sila tunay na runner..

  5. “Priority Registration for Run United 1 21K Runners: April 10 – 14, 2013 (only at Riovana BGC)”

sana sa riovana katips pwede ren mag priority reg…

  6. registered to 32km distance.. first time ko mag didistance na 32k.. sana makaya ko na walang walk breaks.

  7. Selling my 32k race kit for Php2000. Complete with singlet, bib, stubs.

    “maging mapanuri, mapagmatyag, mapahangas….matanglawin”.

  9. Hmmm… runners selling their race kits? Only an IDIOT would do that. Its a shameless act. Its like a runner selling his passion for money. A total IDIOT.

      • what i mean is nagparegister sila tapos ibebenta nila ng mas mahal ung race kits. Unfair diba?

    • Actually they are not idiots, dahil nauutakan nila ang desperate runners. Pero it’s very unethical and immoral.

  10. AFRO-MAN REGISTERED ONLINE!!!

TAPOS NA ANG PAHINGA! START NA NG TRAINING NEXT WEEK!

BEAST MODE WILL BE ACTIVATED SOON!!!!!

  11. pera2x n din ang gngwa ng ibng runners s event n e2,. dhil cguro, kulng2x nbbigay n freebies s knila,. un eh s palagay q lng

  12. agree…sa aking opinyon….front lang nila yung active lifestyle…commercialized talaga. as an alternative hintayin ko Clean Air Run Greenfield…pag reasonable ang reg fee register ulet ako…

  13. may design na pla for singlet and fs, buti naman walang color orange ung fs.

will register on the first day of instore registration. kita kits kapwa runners! 32K it is.

Ano ‘to, one-sided argument?

      • tama ka sir. this is a discussion, a forum. kanya kanya tayong opinyon. kaya to sir joseph on, or kung yan nga pangalan mo, kung ayaw mo makabasa ng suggestions or opinions from us free-thinking runners, tumakbo kana lang.

Feeling importante kasi ‘yung iba e

      • I’mo not a runrio staff okay, first hindi kayo pinilit na mag resgistered, kayo ang nagregistered d ba? so what ever happened tanggapin nyo.

    • why do people complain about certain things like this? simple jealousy. diba sabi nga masamang maingit kung anu meron ang iba. dapat ikatuwa ang meron sila?

    • sabagay, kasi nakahiwalay yung info. anyway, eto yung part na pang 32k

      – Singlet, Race Bib, D-Tag, 10% Discount on Riovana & AH Apparel Raffle & Baggage Stub
      – Active Health Finishers Kit, Finisher’s Medal, Finisher’s Shirt, Drinks & Race Analysis

      • Anu kaya ung Active Health Finishers Kit? Sana race belt or belt bag…. saka paliit ng paliit ung binibigay nila unlike last year, sa RU Phil. Marathon bag ang finishers kit…

  20. to organizers: could you do something about the sizes of the singlets and finisher’s shirts? hindi ito proportion. On mine(medium size)the finisher’s shirt are way too large compared to the singlet. Paki naman po. Salamat!

    • sir ganun po talaga..kahit yung akin ganoon xia..kasi tshirt are meant to be a little larger than your singlet…when your run it is better to use singlet that are body fit or yung hapit sa katawan…it is easier to run that way hindi mabigat once that your sweaty…just a little tip..hope it helps

    • yup i agree with you. kuya. sana almost the same ang size ng finishers shirt sa singlet. kundi katakot takot na punta sa mananahi n nmn ako. :) para paliiting ang finishers shirt. :)

  21. 21K = P900 ? This just confirmed that the current running boom remains sustainable. Let us hope runrio can provide more value for money considering the premium fees.

    • I think that is precisely the p roblem here. Runners see this as a value-for-money thing, hence the organizers and the businessmen are getting bolder and bolder with the fees. The original concept of fun runs/health runs is all lost now. I don’t necessarily begrudge businesses who jump at this opportunity, I am more saddened by the fact that many runners are fine with this.

  22. Wala na ba talaga 5K for newbies like me and my friends? We were looking forward to joining all the three legs but we’re not yet ready to upgrade our race category.

  23. just registered on line and it’s a go fro RU2 2013 21k run.. hope I beat my time the first time around se y’all guys time to train hehehehe

Excited nako for June 2 half marathon before my board exam the following week oh yeah pakiramdam ko na papasa nako hehehe.

  25. bakit ganon ang online registration, ni walang email or confirmation na okay na ang registration mo. i was calling the hotline numbers ng runrio pero nagri-ring lang nobody is answering. i even emailed my concern to runrion pero walang feedback. bakit gaono???

    • I won’t touch on the regular-training-and-diet part anymore since I think anyone who runs 21 would know about and be doing it already, instead I’ll just focus my reply on the “breaking the wall” part. If you’ve run 21 many times, it would be easy to run 32.

Have a routine or a disciplined cycle that is totally outside of counting your distance. Counting your kilometers and how much farther to go is the most mentally debilitating thing to do in long distance running. Note though that this is different from counting mileage to manage your splits or pace, in the sense that you spread your energy throughout the duration of the run.

You could focus on your pace/breathing, meditate, think about your crush, about the story or code you’ve been wanting to write, or anything at all that you could sustain all throughout the run. Anything at all that could take your mind off from counting the remaining distance. Related to this, it also helps overestimating your run, that is, conditioning your mind into thinking of running longer that the actual distance. It helps push off the last-few-kilometers syndrome (you know, the hardest and most joyless part of any long distance run).

Finally, and I think the most important thing, your motivation/reason. I think this is why anything beyond 15k does not anymore fall within the “running for good health” category. You really need a special reason to run, or must be in an extremely good physical condition to be able to endure the experience. And this is extremely personal, so you have to find yours.

(But just emphasize, even with the strongest mind, to paraphrase Batman sa TDKR, “it’s still the body who’ll do the running”, so your body has to be ready for 32, 42, or whatever further distance you want to run eventually.)

      I hope this helps.Good luck. :)

    • Ideally, you’d want to have 3-4 months training for 21k. The training intensifies somewhere in the second and third month and taper off until the event.

It should include 3-4 weekly runs (30 mins or at least 5k). Try to spend one of these runs as a breaker, or something that will help you transition into the next week’s more intense schedule. It could be a faster run (like if your goal for the week is 5k/30 mins, hit 6 or 7k), or do a alternate run/sprint for 10-15 mins. Then have one weekly long run (in my case, during the weekend). If you’re just starting, you could do a 10-12k for an hour. So that’s basically 4-5 runs per week , including 1 long run.

Intensify your training every week such that at the start of the third month your 5k daily runs should feel effortless and you could hit 10k in 40-50 mins. By the last week of the third month, or one month before the event, you should have a test run for your long run. This is a good indicator of your performance for the event. Try to run 16k between 1:10 – 1:20. (If you could hit this, you are in good shape to have a 1:30 to 1:45 21k.) Adjust according to your development during the training.

You could then spend the last month for regular runs and nothing beyond 10k for long runs – just to keep the body in good running mode and to avoid any injuries. I understand that you have only two months for RU2, so just try customize your schedule accordingly.

      Good luck.

  27. agree ako sayo sir!! ako tuwing tumatakbo nang long distance nagrerecite ako ng poem, kumakanta, nagdarasal atbp. para lang mawala yung pagkaboring ko while running. :)
