  1. Was able to finish my third FM..Sana lang..pinahuli ang pagpasok sa UP Campus..di ko siya na appreciate masyado..madilim e..Sobrang magandang bonus ang pagpasok sa Lamesa Dam

  2. did my 1st 10km race dito sa QCIM…it was worth my newbie run…hope to join next year….now I know kaya ko na mag10-km….next stop milo marathon 10km…

  3. my first FullMarathon ^__^__^ thanks for the chance. nabigla yata ako pero buti hnd pinulikat. done in 05;02:25 ang saya ko at ang sarap kausap nung ibang runners listening to their past full marathon experiences. si kuya pinulikat pero tinuloy pa din ang laban!

TNX TO ORGANIZERS AND FELLOW RUNNERS. MORE POWER TO US! ^__^__^

  4. Enjoyed the route.. New PR for my 21k run at 2h13m. Just noticed the lack of Hydration stations going to wilcon, just my observation but other than that it was a well organized event. loved the shower area in i think the 16km mark. 1 complaint regarding the medical crew. Nilapitan na sila and everything pero tuloy lang ang chismisan nila and hindi talaga pinansin yung kasma ko na nag numb yung buong katawan after finishing his FM good thing there was an ambulance nearby. Tsktsk someone should check those incompetent staff! Nuff of the rant. Still a great race. Kudos to all (except those 4 incompetent medical staff!)

  5. Someone took my GU gel from my belt pouch a few seconds from 21k gunstart. Buti nalang yung isa kong GU nasa harap.

Nakita ko nalang my keys were dangling from its hook but at least my phone was still in tact hindi nakuha!

    Boo that thief!

  6. From a 5K participant’s point of view. Very well organized ang run na ito. Masaya kahit medyo siksikan nung nag gun start na for 5K. Sasali pa ba ako next year? :)
Two thumbs up!!! Next year ulit. :)

  7. Congrats to all the finishers especially to the 42K runners…
The run was nice, the best scenic run in the city…
Will most likely run next year…

    Kudos to Withoutlimits!
    Two thumbs up!

    Takbo-takbo lang… (“,)

  8. Woooohhh!!! our first fun run ever! sobrang saya with my school mates waiting for the race reslt para malaman q name nung crush q knna sa 5km male na nagtop! galing2 go crush!!!!XD

  9. Challenging 21K route! Long stretches of uphills!

  10. my first run in QCIM, but second in a 10k race. bakit naman ipinagdamot ng mga nasa hydration station ang gatorade?halos ayaw magbigay. also paanong paraan nauubusan ng loothbag?
talking for those at 21 and 41also, napakaunti ng hydration station.di pa tapos ang mga nasa half and full maratahon nagsinop na ng tubig. nakita ko ito while going home to north fairview.
sana naman without limits, ayusin next time especially this is an international marathon.

  11. Toughest 10K challenge to para sa akin… Dahil ung Commonwealth taas baba…

  12. thanks sa flash light sa UP, saka ung hydration na after UP oval eh after 16k na ata ulit:P hahaha. sa uulitin! wla na palang gatorade after sa UP :P set my first 21k PR :P

  13. Congratulations to all the organizers of QCIM 2012! Very nice and challenging route. I enjoyed the fresh and cool breeze in UP and Lamesa Eco park, it was fun being one with mother nature except for commonwealth avenue, but overall, the race was great! See you next year! God bless!!

  14. “QCIM is the most dangerous and most polluted race in the country.”

    Allow me to elaborate.
    1. Runners were exposed to the cars along Commonwealth Ave. No orange cones. no barricades. Small contingent of marshals. It was an accident waiting to happen. If there was an accident there was no way to protect the runners. Along the route, during the run, there was a hard screeching and braking car incident and I really prayed it would not veer towards the runners.
    2. The U-turns were open and cars were coming in to the runners. Marshals were on standby but it was really dangerous with some cars ignoring the marshals.
    3. I love the PNP but the I saw several of the police officers lined up only at the finish line. There were only a handful at the U-turn intersections and the commonwealth route.
    4. Running in Commonwealth was like running behind a smoke-belching car. I ran in the 21K race. Early but a medium traffic already. Woe to those who finished late. Pollution may have quadrupled by 630am.
    5. The UP back route was in total darkness with a handful of marshalls with small flashlights. Potholes and humps and sprains ready to happen.

I think Runnex is a prestigious organization but this is not right. Its an accident waiting to happen. You cannot expose the runners to such a hazardous environment. Never again.

I enjoin other runners to comment on my post if it is true or not.

    Best,
    Eaglerunner

silentkillerhills nga tlga ung up & down ng commonwealth hehhehe..
    Overall good race!
    rating: 8/10

  16. My 1st 21K race at 2:29.
    Positives:
On time gun start for 21k (but were there latecomers for the 3am 42k gunstart?)
Plenty and cheerful/helpful marshals inside UP.
    Nice wide Commonwealth road.
The last 2 water stations had pitchers with ice.
    Negatives:
No nutrition? Whatever happened to the famous saging? Lol. Buti may baon ako na Cloud9 choco bar.
Ill-placed hydration stations (too much hydration inside UP, none between the 10k and 21k turn-around points).
Nakakalito yung mga Km marker – why will an 18km (for 21k), 7km (for 10k) be placed at different spots when both have the same Finish line? I am not sure about the actual distance tuloy. When I finished at 2:29 I did not see the 2:30 pacers – did they make it in time? Anyone checked with their GPS on the actual distance of the 21K?
Overall I am quite satisfied with the run but might stick with the usual BGC/MOA ones next time, since it is also nearer where I live.

  17. @RoadRunner

21.01 on my Garmin. very accurate naman placing ng KM markers nila. ignore mo nlng yung markers for other category. may saging din pero 1 or 2 stations lng ata. after that puro water and gatorade nlng napancn ko.

sa commonwealth may 2 or 3 points na mejo mabaho amoy hehehe, nakakasuka eh, taz mausok na beyond 6am :(

isa pa pala napancn ko mejo hnd yata synchronized yung time, off by 4 or 5 mins? i tracked my time but different nung nkita ko sa time sa FL. anyways, pasok pdin naman sa target time ko, i always trust my gadgets.

sarap magpamasahe dun sa salonpas hehe as i watched other runners pumipila sa napakahabang photobooth, di nko nagabala pumila, magbibilad pko sa araw parang daing.

yung sa mga nagrereklamo sa lootbag, yeah gatorade lng nga laman, pero hnd nmn ako reklamador pagdating sa ganyan. basta nagenjoy ako sa race, still on my list for nextyear.

  18. My thoughts of the run:
    1. Race organisation in general including race route – excellent!
    2. Hydration – great – intervals were nicely placed. You could have ran it without
own hydration as one 42K young lady runner did
    3. Bananas – too close to the finish line for 42K runners. Effect would no longer
    be felt
    4. Medal – good enough but not great
    5. Finsher’s T-shirt – Not good. Does not in any way indicate that the one wearing
was a 42K finisher – hence, does not make for a bragging right:-(
    Overall: Great event, great experience.

    Doinks

  21. i had a great run!

comment #22 may be right that its dangerous to run along the Killer Hi-way of the Phil (commonwealth ave) but it is the most suitable and appropriate venue to held the QCIM. There will be no accident if the driver is well educated and law-abiding citizen.

it is an intentional act if a runner will be hit by a motorist. advise lang na dapat dagdagan ng precautionary barriers para alam ng mga runners kung hanggang saan ang alloted space to run.

small lights along UP and La Mesa is not a problem coz im always prepared for that. (basic rule in running night to early morning time is to bring light)

as for the medal, same quality with the immuvit trilogy.

the finishers shirt is simple at medyo maliit nga lang ang sizes. (lucky for those who have mugs in their lootbags)

definitely, this would be my annual year-ending marathon.

congrats running buddies arnie and jerry!

see you in the next run.

  22. I run in the QCIM every year (21k and 42k), and sad to say, this is the least of the four I enjoyed. But I enjoyed them all, in fairness, ito lang ang least.

    The negatives:
    – Kulang sa hydration for the stretch from Shopwise/Ever (?) to the turn-around. I was eyeing the marshals and even the police, ready to beg in case they have extra water bottles with them.
    – Where have all the bands and cheerers gone? I remember na last year, parang mas marami sila kaysa ngayon.
It would have been a nice part of the route.
    – Kulang ang photogs. They covered the other races held on the same date. Sana nagbigay ng incentives ang QCIM organizers for more photogs to cover this race. I hear that there’s enough budget for it naman given by the QC government.
    – When the 5k runners came out, napuno ang daan going to the finish line. This wouldn’t have been a problem had more lanes been closed to vehicular traffic.

    The positives:
    – The sloping route is exciting. It’s not flat so a bit challenging.
    – The marshals inside UP were numerous and helpful, with their flashlights and shouted warnings (“May hump po! Ingat!”…”May lubak dyan!”)
    – The race started on time. (But was there an issue of some 42k runners not knowing that the gunstart had been moved to 3 am?)
    – It’s always nice to run along Commonwealth Ave.
    – Naka-PR ako! :-)

Thanks sa organizers. It’s hard to put up a perfect race, and I’m sure you did your best.

  23. @Roadrunner:

Hi sir, the 21k route enters UP before it continues to Commonwealth ave., hence, their 7th KM mark is different from the 7th KM mark of the 10K since it does not enter UP grounds.

  24. @WL-Congrats to your event. Am sure it was a logistic nightmare to hold such a grand event at a busy highway at that. Pasalamat pa rin ako sa inyo at walang nangyaring disgrasya.
Re the km markers, I would expect kasi the 18km(for 21k) and 7km(for 10k) be on the same spot kasi pareho silang 3kms to go…

  25. i agree with eagle runner…im not the hard core runner and the longest KM i ran was 10Km its my first time to run for the QCIM marathon…but just comparing it with the bgc runs and the moa runs…there were bananas ready for the runners and the gatorade drinks were not limited…and yes the commonwealth stretch was not a good venue for runs, the air was so polluted, they could have used the mindanao ave. stretch instead, less traffic and less pollution…this is just my own opinion.

  26. I agree with the others. The 4th QCIM was the most dangerous event that I attended exposing runners to accident especially the U-turns at walang harang ang lane for runners. Pag mag oovertake ka sa runners na naglalakad lang you have to look at your left side kung hindi ka mahahagip ng koptseng nag oovertake naman sa mga kotse. I pitied those who were not able to finish the run especially who joined the 42k and 21k kasi inopen na nila ng before 9 am ang mga lanes at delikado silang masagasaan. Commonwealth is the most dangerous hi-way pa naman. Isasali pa ang mga runners.

  27. @comment #39: IMHO, mas delikado po kung sa Mindanao Ave ang way since mas matraffic po duon and worst baka katabi mo pa tatakbo yung mga sasakyan kasi masikip yung daan and maiksi lang Mindanao Ave. unlike Commonwealth na napakalawak ng running lane compare sa 32nd Ave at Lawton Ave in Taguig or in Gil Puyat Ave na may nabangga sa intersection despite sa dami ng Traffic Enforcer.

Besides, QCIM is an international marathon event and NOT a FUN Run so every participant should be prepared to finish within the standard time set by AIMS. Its not good to shut down a main road for a very long time just for the walkers.

  29. International marathon? What is the standard time ng aims? Pang elite lang ba ang qcim? Bat nag sabi cila 7hrs ang cutoff kung d an susundin? Yung 6:00 n 6:15 pacers sa island nlang tumatakbo.

  30. Hi! This is my first half marathon. I’m just wondering if the goodie really did include just the same singlet worn during the run, and not a finisher’s shirt. If ever a finisher’s shirt should have been in the goodie bag, is there a chance for me to exchange the one issued to me? Thank you.

  31. Well, my 1st half mary went good. finished it in 2:07 not bad for a 1st timer. The bad thing is, the finisher shirt is not a finisher shirt… it’s an ordinary singlet!

  32. dami reklamo, pasalamat nlng u finish the race ng buhay pa kau hehe,
ung mga downside, part tlga ng race yan, wala pong perfect na race, struggle til the end labanan dito, besides marathon nga to hindi fun run pra ma provide lahat ng gusto nyo along the route. well atleast take this as a lesson nlng, always prepare urself, more importantly bring ur own hydration. buti nlng nagbasa basa ako ng reviews nito dati hehehe

  33. [modified repost from facebook] I think Without Limits & Proactive did a great job given the time & resources that you had. :) I particularly enjoyed the route especially the “crucial” kilometers within La Mesa Ecopark. I enjoyed that route better than BCG-MOA. It was a happy & relaxing run for me despite the inherent dangers of the Commonwealth stretch. :)

I found the hydration & nutrition stations, and the safety measures to be sufficient. Marami pang pwedeng improvements para next year. :)

Nevertheless, Kudos to all the people who gave their time and effort to make this running event possible! :)

  34. @COMMENT #41…i was thinking more of closing the mindanao ave stretch for the duration of the run…anyway the pictures speaks for itself. i rest my case..and i dont intend to do marathon running…they should not include the 5 and 10k run there if they intend it for marathoners alone…

  35. I agree with @Jerry and @Mandaragat, dapat laging handa.

Sa mga gustong makaranas ng very SAFE and CLEAN race route plus a very challenging race then register na po sa Subic International Marathon set on Jan 26 & 27, 2013. (separate days po yung short at long distance categories).

    Takbo-takbo lang. Stay safe…

  36. Grabe run at your own risk ito. Pasalamat nalang at walang naaksidente.

  37. agree ako sayo @kikoman.. hindi pa yata nila kaya mag organize ng 42k.. run for your life.. akala ko nga sarado yung isang lane ng commonwealth paglabas galing up, nang bigla na lng may sumulpot na sasakyan at motor sa likod ko nasa gitna pa naman ako tumatakbo…hays.. buti na lng may lamesa eco-park at may isang mug yung loot bag. salamat na lng po tayo at walang na aksidente…

  38. This was my first run and I quite enjoyed it, particularly the stretch along the flyover. The run “uphill” was a little challenging for someone used to running on flat surfaces but the view more than made up for it. I couldn’t help smiling to myself when I saw that I had actually run past landmarks that I usually pass by vehicular means.

As in the above comments, I also was a little worried about possible accidents but I’m glad none happened. Since I only ran the 5k, I didn’t experience the polluted air quite as much as the longer distance runners. However, at a hydration station, I went to get a cup of water and I saw that the water had some black particles in it due to the pollution. Good thing I kept my cup from a previous hydration station and had it refilled straight from the pitcher otherwise I would be drinking literally polluted water. The water stations were placed at good intervals, though.

Another thing I was a little disappointed in was the lack of lootbags for the 5k runners. There were still a lot of us who hadn’t exchanged their stubs but all that were left were empty lootbags. I still exchanged my stub for an (empty) lootbag, though and filled it with other freebies from the other stalls. hehe.

Overall, it was a great first race. There were some downsides to it but the great experience overshadows the negatives.

ung race experience itself, quite nice.

    Awaiting results.

    • @aaa: we hope not see accusations here. Please show us concrete proof na kinuha ng volunteers ang mugs. We do not need to list down all the lootbag items sponsors gave because there was NONE…we bought the Gatorade. This is not a profit-gaining run. Half of the runners were public school students whom Runnex supports.

We hope everyone be mature enough to understand.

From then on di na ako nag expect or nag aspire pa ng Freebies. I run because I want to prove something for myself, and hello tatakbo ka ba ng 42k at ng 21k para lang sa Freebies?People be mature.

  42. Chris: Thank you.

It’s funny how people rant about not getting mugs, just getting ballpens, getting another singlet inside their lootbags, getting uncold Gatorade inside their lootbags, small medals and finishers shirt.

If we are to compute, please count the singlet cost, the timing chips, the cost of medals and finishers shirts, hundreds of marshals (waterstations, security, ambulance, route marshals) who worked days and nights, the food expenses shouldered by the organizers, the permit to run along Commonwealth Ave, UP and Quezon Ave, the sleepless nights and headaches of working with different government agencies with internal issues, the VERY limited resources and time that are out of a third control.

Even if we get the total registration fees, it won’t sum up to all the expenses Runnex spent to run the event.

If you got extra item than the loot bag, that means, you belong to the first 100 or 200 of your distance. If none, then you should try running faster.

  43. @puro reklamo

Buti nalang nakakuha ako ng matinong loot bag.. hehehe
Kidding aside, With or without lootbags, medals etc.. It doesn’t matter. We ran because we love the sport and that is it. If you receive a lootbag/medal its an added bonus. We should all just be thankful that we were able to run this route thanks to the organizers. Peace! :)

  44. I did not run because of the lootbag or the medal or the finisher’s kit, although I really needed the certificate for my graduation requirement but still, its all about the running experience….Nung nasa loob ako ng La Mesa Ecopark at nung pabalik na ako sa finish line malapit sa Iglesia ni Kristo, napahinto talaga ako kasi the feeling was surreal. Sometimes you need to stop and look around to realize the wonder of it all and in this case, all made possible kasi I chose to run. :)

  45. Puro Reklamo – you can’t blame runners to give their opinions about the event. instead of giving your opinion to the opinion of others, give opinion to the event of what you experienced. kaya nga may forum. just saying.

  46. @kikoman Ayun oh, may nakakilala. :) So, eleven years old lang talaga siya?

  51. @r@m©€$
umaasa ako tatakbo din sya dun, pra naman maramdaman nya sekretong relasyon namen hehehe

    @Nai
malaking bulas, maganda future nitong babaeng to hehe.. future saken :)

    @klx
nag announce ng change of time sir, dito sa PF and sa FB page nila.

  56. @Bagito & Brian: Hi sir, May I know kung san po kayo nagparegister and yung full name niyo and yung bib no. niyo? Thanks po.

To all, sorry for the inconvenience sir. Peace tayo lahat! ^^,v
