  1. Quite expensive reg fees.
What are the race+kit features aside from a recycled singlet?
What is meant by ‘reusable timing chip’ as well? Do we get to use it for Globe Run next year?

  2. eeeeewwwww! super mahal! The Condura run was expensive because they made the Skyway available for us to run, but this one is crazy! what’s in it for us Runners?

I am running 21K at the same place on March 6 for P750 na dami pang freebies and siguradong well organized bcoz it’s Runrio. I actually don’t care about singlets, kasi I don’t wear naman their singlets. plus, I’ve read a lot of negative feedback regarding their event last year, i guess it’s not worth it.

  5. i really dont see the point of using a reusable timing chip. not unless it will be sanctioned by all event organizers. if they’ve used a disposable one, bababa kaya ung cost ng regs fee? hmmm….

  6. singlet is predominantly white with blue on the side (and shoulder) and the R4H logo in the front

    measurements:
    S – 24(length) 18.5(chest)
    M – 24.5(length) 21(chest)
    L – 25.5(length) 22.5(chest)
    XL – 26(length) 23.75(chest)
    XXL – 26.5(length) 25(chest)

  7. I can understand the expensive registration fee IF a greater percentage will go to the beneficiaries. How much will they give to GK, Habitat, etc? Baka naman P50.00 lang din?

  8. finishers medal pls….maganda na yung malinaw kasi may ibang event na first 100 lang ang may medal….pano naman yung iba..dapat lahat ng 21k finishers may medal….di naman natin magagamit yang reusable d tag kung reusable yan…like other d tag…either keychain o collection ang labas nyan sa akin…sabihin nila lahat ng laman ng race kit para masabing worth it ang presyo nila sa registration….their company is globe…kumikita ng milyon everyday yan….dapat expected ng mga runners na alaga sila ng globe like runrio did to runners

  9. In fairness naman with Condura, its quite expensive kasi aside from we are allowed to run in Skyway and everybody has the Medal, Allrunners in the event were insured..

  10. Race Kit
    – Singlet (sizes will be subject to availability)
    – D-tag
    – Race Bib Number
    – Runpix analysis
    – Downloadable Photos
    – Finishers medal for 21km

Kadugo run in mandaluyong n lng kmi! 100 lng :-)

  13. @Oscar: natawa ako dun ah.

    off topic:

  16. guys, try to consider this alternative race on the same day which will be held at FIlinvest Corporate City in Alabang for the the benefit of the Isko Cleans UP, a project to implement solid waste management in the University of the Philippines – Diliman.

  17. and until now, globe hasn’t made any comment regarding high regs fee. i guess at the back of their minds, “sasali naman din kayo eh”. and i believe they are right

who could resist globe fun run? not unless me big time na takbuhan na sasabayan ito. at sa murang halaga

i think it goes without saying na there’s a tendency to “brag” that we joined this and that fun run. at kapag small time ung sinalihan mo eh hindi ka IN

  18. In my opinion, runners will join this race at their own disposition.

Globe’s run last year is my debut race for running. I joined and I was happy after finishing a 10K. Up to now, I am still wearing the black baller ID I’ve got from “Habitat for Humanity”. The registration fee that time is not more than Php700 and I enjoyed the same race features as to what they are offering now.

At this point, registration increased by more than 50% with a change in location and additional medal for 21K finishers (last year they gave a finisher singlet for 21K). With this increase in their registrations as compared to other local well-organized, quality-driven races, what the organizers should anticipate is a massive expectation of an international standard race. A good comparison I could give from a personal experience is Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon last December. The registration for 21K in this international event is only 36SGP (~Php1300.00), with high quality singlets from ASICS, a glamorous medal for all finishers in all categories, lootbags, pre and post race activities, personalized race certificates, dignified beneficiaries, well-organized registration service and a lifetime experience of a wonderful race.

In the end, it is up to the organizers of Globe R4H 2011 to be at par with the expectations of their runners. I still think they do this because they want to help, and not to mock a business with the entire running community (fingers crossed!) :)

  19. i think it’s pathetic to brag of expensive or big times races that you’ve joined… people who do this are “porma” runners; not real runners. it’s not the cost that counts… it’s the fun, safety and quality of the race that matters.

  20. I joined last year but I swear not to join this year or possibly future Globe races. I feel cheated when they did not give medals for 21K finishers, while the finisher’s singlet in lieu of the medals are just mere low quality fabric.

  21. in terms of the race kit offered by this “business” run, wag na sana tayo mgpauto. if you are a smart runner, you will not join this event. if you join this without even reconsidering, i think you are the opposite. sakto tlga ang name na globe, nambibilog lang ng ulo. sana i-improve na nila ang quality ng internet service nila with the profit they’ll be making in this event kasi kahit dun puro negative feedbacks din. “less commercials, improve quality”

    • guys, no bashing please, let’s be constructive on our comments. It’s our love for the sport that got us together, so let’s all support each other, as it was said, in the end it’s going to be an individual decision on which races to join, at least now there are a lot of options for runners to choose from, let’s respect each others reason for running… reminders are welcome, but let’s not go over the line :) As always, thanks for the support guys!

  22. @Pinoyfitness. In a democratic country like ours, we have the freedom to speak our minds as long as it is factual and everything doesn’t appear as false accusations or derogatory, so to speak. Yung opinions, it is the product of our minds based on experiences. Everything is part of check and balance. Running should be affordable to everybody, down to the grassroots up to the well-to-do runners.

  23. @ROTECH: Are you so annoyed & irritated with the moderators of pinoyfitness??? I have been reading a lot of your posts in every events posted here and the attitude i am getting of you is one of an arrogant, presumptious and over self-righteous person. Who do you think you are to berate pinoyfitness huh? if you don’t like the moderators’reminding bloggers to slow down on the bashing, dont join the discussion. May i remind you that they have the right to do it because THEY ARE MODERATORS IN THE FIRST PLACE! They can remove or totally restrict anyone from further posting comments if the situation warrants it, just like in your case when you and another blogger were given a warning in the QCIM discussion to refrain from posting unsavvy comments. To borrow you own words “we have the freedom to speak our minds as long as it is factual and everything doesn’t appear as false accusations or derogatory, so to speak.” You forgot that you’ve once bordered on bastos and ungentlemanly comment. Good thing that pinoyfitness removed those comments.

So stop being self righteous when some comments do not appeal to your own definition of what’s ok and not since i am in doubt of your credibility and integrity.

    Reminder: I am exercising my right to free expression ;}

  24. Pakiramdam ko po kaya ganyan kataas yan kasi may incentive lagi ang mga Ayala-affiliated companies (Globe, BPI, Glorietta, Trinoma etc) na sumali sa ganyang events kasi 50% off sila..pero off the record yun

  25. Enough with the discussion on race fees. I was subtly reminded in another forum that forums like these should focus more on the run and related activities (e.g. training, groups, gears/gadgets). And I agree, even though I seethe a bit on the fees (too!). We choose where we race after all. It’s free will.

So, ako? I will run elsewhere. My choice, my race, my fun. Takbo na lang tayo!!!

    Peace & world peace :)

  26. @vbm, singlet design (and sizing) is already out. i believe pinoyfitness will be posting it here soon

as for the race map and medal, no details yet has been provided by globe. though i expect them to be out by monday

  27. yup they said that but actually we have no
idea how much they will go to benefit run..

i know the fact they put on their pocket so, I Were them lets be picky on choosing which run to compete.. beware those so called advocacy run…. ant those too much registration fees…

  28. @Cecille. Pls read your own post again, then compare it to my post. Mine is opinion based on facts, based on what I experienced last year and what I opined this Globe organizer is doing. Then compare my post to your post. Yung post ko opinion on what high entry fees could do to the sport of running, walang emosyon doon, nagpapahayag lang po ng isang opinyon na base sa totoong facts. Bakit may tatakbo bang lasing o kaya maghahamon ng away sa Globe Run for Home last year?

Peace tayo.

  29. @pinoyfitness: race maps/route pls? ty in advance… @cecille and rotech: peace be with the both of you :) … basta walang bashing, expletives, obscenities, libelous or derogatory remarks para sa kin pwede na… kaya lang kuminsan yung definition nung mga yun ang mejo blurred… :))

  30. @cecille & rotech :

I think you both have points. Just go on with the exchange of ideas. just no attacks. Healthy debate is good.

@whip : totally agree with you.

Peace! Let’s run! Be selective if you want. FREE WILL!!!

  31. Hi Cecille, peace be with you. Walang maanghang na salitang ibinato namin sa forum na ito, I respect him and as I perceived,he respects the opinion also of everyone here. Healthy exchanges of ideas lang, mam. Peace mam, takbo lang tayo lahat, then malayang mag-opinion. Peace to all! Hallelujah!

  32. waw! sobrang mahal! hmmmmm.. dapat may breakdown ng expenses.. hehe.. dibale may mga ibang run naman kasabay niyan.. will not run this race..

  33. I have registered online last week, yet race kit has not yet been delivered after 1 week. No contact details are provided in the web for followup.

  34. Any feedback on the registration on the Globe Run? Anyone registered already? Parang minimum effort from Globe for information dissemination. Seriously considering to skip this one…

  35. @barefootdaves, actually last year hindi ako nakajoin so hindi ko alam at di ko macompare. but comparing the quality to my collection of singlets, around 12 of them, i would dare say that this is so far the best!

  37. is the singlet better than the Adidas KOTR?

  38. Bakit po expensive? mayaman naman ang Globe? Puro made in recycled matrials na nga po ang gagamitin tas mahal pa rin? Naalala ko tuloy ang bad experience ko Adidas king of the Road..Pagkatapos mo tumakbo ang pinagmamalaki nilang buffet style ay pandesal na tig do dos, isang hotdog na giniginaw sa lamig at isang pirasong saging at tubig…un lang… Bakit parang pareho kayo ng modus? Sana pag aralan nyo po maigi yung price…mahal na pamasahe eh..We love to run.. to stay fit… and stay away from drugs? pero bakit ganun?sa pera pera nauuwi…wag naman po natin gawin bizness masyado ang running kasi baka mawalan kami ng tiwala sa Globe….yan ang naging bad effect sakin ng adidas king of the road last year..1st time ko join KOTR pero yun ang worst experience ko sa adidas.Bakit sa runrio maganda system? hayyy…mag pa advice po kaya kayo sa runrio? ordinaryong runner din po ako.madAmi napo ako nasalihan running events…d ko pinagmamalaki ang runrio or not run rio fan also, pero sila lang yung nakita kong maganda mag organize from runners to sponsors, also yung MILO marathon…sa condura mahal din pero worth it dahil may magandang medal ka makukuha after the run plus nice freebies….Globe pag aralan nyo po mabuti sayang naman ang reputation ng name kung dito lang kayo masisira…tsk..tsk..

  39. Actually the singlet of this run is one of the best i have last year…sobrang lambot though bitin lng ng konti dhl medyo maliit size nkuha ko…I ran 10K last year and i paid 850 pesos also but meron akong nakuha na Globe tattoo USB for internet..not bad. Cguro pass muna ako this year. doon muna ako sa mas mura.

  41. to those runners who really want to join pero having 2nd thoughts dahil sa registration fee, i suggest you gather up your running buddies and register as a group. sayang din ung kaunting matitipid. kung namamahalan pa din, me alternatives naman po :)

Sorry Globe, I have turn you down this time. Better luck next time.

  43. JUST DID A ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR TWO PEOPLE LAST WEEK.WHY,TILL NOW WE HAVENT GOT AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION FOR OUR REGISTRATION. THANKS AND MORE POWER.

  44. grabe naman ang mahal… almost twice from last year. Unless this is a Rio event or an out of town event plus plus a whole lot of new experience why not?~?~? but the thing is each year it’s gettin’ expensive… and maybe kahit gusto ng mga tumakbo baka they won’t join na din.

I have lots of friends who want to join pero ayaw na nila kasi nga hanggang 300-500 lang abot kaya. imagine weekly takbo ka- 1K each week… thats 4K a month… tsk tsk… not to mention other gastos like energy gels and eat out… tsk tsk… sana those organizers hindi itake advantage ang sport na running… baka marame na madiscourage…

  45. Join na lang kayo sa Baguio 21K… 600 lang pero 21K na… at least whole new experience… don’t see the point of running sa super mahal… Yeah i agree with Hops about KOTR parang binayaran mo lang ang singlet na may tatak na adidas… pwedeng isama ang QC IM sa worst organized running event???

@Hops: i think this year, Rio will organize KOTR – kaya I might join…

  46. join run for light balanga bataan… bataan known kay baldrunner, kay medyo takot yata ang di nagmamarathon sa bataan.haha this time balanga naman offering a fun run very affordable price and attractive prize. from 250-350, you have singlet and bib and prize is up to 7k! i think they will have a free bus ride ROUDTRIP from pasay, cubao, avenida, trinoma, pampanga, sm sanfernando, baguio etc. they will announce it daw.

  47. Will be joining Yakult 10 Miler instead of Globe Run for Home on March 27th.

Yakult registration at Mizuno Megamall, Trinoma and Bonifacio High Street until March 21- all categories @ Php 300.00.

    Run wisely guys :-)

  48. ang mahal naman.. di naman gaano ka organize…. well i will not run and im not excited… runf for fun ginawang business.. ano ba yan! wag naman..do some marketing collect less to globe subscriber, di ba!and less to old Globe runners…. think of something that can generate participants w less payments and think of something that can create more subscription to ur network… wag niyong ibuhos lahat ng babayaran sa runners….

  49. Too commercialized.

    Ang mahal.

I encourage my fellow runners to boycott this event. Mahal ng fees, same race route.

    Nakakasawa na sa BGC ok?

  50. Sana next time if you do such project na ganito.. take all the responsible donation since its your project and let the runner run for a healthy life.. so u support two causes.. for the charity which you handled it and for the individual who is willing to run for a healthy life… di ba ang ganda….wag ibigay ang cost sa runners….:) dahil ba maraming gusto mag run….
