Join the Million Hectare Challenge 2011! Haribon Foundation is once again preparing for its 5th annual fundraising event, happening Sunday, November 27th at Liwasang Ullalim, Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The Million Hectare Challenge is a run for a cause urging all Filipinos to support ROAD TO 2020, the campaign to restore 1 million hectares of forests by year 2020 using indigenous tree species.

Rainforests are the primary source of our water; they prevent soil erosion and play a major role in mitigating climate change by absorbing more carbon from the atmosphere. The Philippine forests are in a state of degradation and it is urgent that Filipinos act, and act now. Bringing back our forests will ensure continued ecological services and help prevent the natural disasters that plague our country.

Help raise at least 1 million pesos towards ROAD TO 2020. Funds generated from MHC 2011 will be used to support tree-planting activities, promote environment-friendly and sustainable livelihood options for local communities, establish and maintain indigenous tree nurseries, and create awareness-raising and capacity-building programs – just to name a few.

  1. Oh my bad, not exactly the same question. The link for RunnersRunner just redirects me to the calendar, are there any other links for registering online. If not where can I manually register that’s near Pasig?

  2. a very interesting and worthy run event for the re-planting of our lost trees aside from rehabilitating our rivers, right?

would like to try their 7K category. aja!
