Join Avon’s Race to 125,000 Kisses for Breast Cancer
Early registration for the Manila Run Event begins on July 16

With thousands of women succumbing to breast cancer every year, it is no surprise that the condition remains to be the top killer of Filipino women. Anyone can easily fall prey to this deadly disease—making it every individual’s responsibility to support the fight against breast cancer.

Avon, the foremost corporate advocate of this disease, continues to invite everyone to be a positive part of the fight to save women’s lives with its annual Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) fundraising event. Since its Philippine launch in 2002, it has been Avon KGBC’s mission to help provide access to care and support to medically under-served women.

In celebration of its 125th anniversary, the company for women brings more excitement to its annual walk and run events with its campaign Race to 125,000 Kisses. For 2011, Avon is inviting everyone to work together to build the giant pink ribbon through their “Kisses of Support”.

Participation in the annual event translates into a Kiss donation for all breast cancer victims. Your Kiss via a Kiss Card, which will be included in the race kit for the run participants, will be numbered and counted to fulfill the 125,000 target.

The Race to 125,000 Kisses Run, consisting of the 5K and 10K events, encourages the growing community of runners in the Philippines to actively show their commitment for the cause. For a registration fee of P500.00 and P650.00 respectively, individuals will receive the Avon KGBC Race Kit, which already includes a singlet, race number and giveaway. Proceeds from the event, which will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds, will go to PGH Breast Care Center and selected provincial hospitals.

Registration begins July 16, 2011 (except R.O.X) via Avon KGBC’s official website www.avonkgbcphilippines.com.

Individuals may also sign up for the run event at participating Avon locations: Taft (contact 516-8005), Shaw (contact 571-8930), and Avon Makati Head Office (contact 864-2954). Participants can also sign up at the following establishments: Reebok Megamall (U/G Floor, 914-0344), The Shoe Shop Rockwell (2nd Level, Power Plant Mall, 898-1297), and R.O.X.   3. Took this re-scheduled in a positive way. You still have time to train yourselves in preparation for this race. Good thing on my part, I didn’t registered here in this race.

  6. unfortunately, confirmed nga na cancelled ang event tomorrow. Oct. 9 na. nobody from avon contacted us. most likely nobody contacted the rest of the runners for the changes. kawawa naman ung mga pupunta sa site tomorrow not knowing na re-scheduled pala.

  12. where can we inquire about refunds.. our group is scheduled for another run that date and we obviously cant run for both events..

  13. Ok na rin na na-postpone itong event na to. Remember, sa MOA seaside ito, and coming from typhoon Pedring and the destruction it brought to the sea areas of MOA and Roxas Blvd., we can never be too sure about the weather.

    Our October 9 was plotted for another race. Not your fault? Not our fault either. If you do not want your brand to be looked down badly, honor the bitter truth of taking the worst consequence of that loss, rather than runners paying for something that they did not, or cant run to.

    Are the organizers willing to destroy the name Avon for just one failed Marathon? Others did and no one wants to run there anymore, albiet even patronize the brand.

    I’m sure you are more intelligent than that.

  21. avon please do something about your re-scheduled date most of the runners including me already registered in octoberun… i noticed that its so easy for the organizers in rescheduling this event… i didn’t schedule myself to run in livestrong but i did because of the cancellation of this event… both cancer run… but still i’d like to run on both event avon and octoberun…

  22. nainggit tuloy kami dun sa isang running buddy namin na tumakbo sa livestrong… haist……. ganda ng panahon kanina di pa nila binalik sa oct 2 ung date. ganun ganun lang naman sila nag re-sched so im certain na kaya nila ire-sched ulit back to the original date. hirap talaga pag di matinong organizer and behind ng event.

We’re all disappointed after namin malamang cancelled ang run..we understand your reason for cancelling the run,but dapat eh ininform kami.kaya nga hiningi nyo contact details namin (contact nos.) para sa mga ganyang pangyayari ay minform nyo agad kami.ang aga pa naman namin kanina,tapos di pla tuloy..edi sana sa mga oras na un ay natutulog na lang kami at tumakbo kahit around 6am na lang sa amin..hay…..gusto naming makatulong kaya sumali kami dito and at the same time,mag-enjoy..kawawa ung ibang nakilala naming galing pang batangas.very disappointed tlga sila..sa mga organizer ng ganitong events,sana ayusin nyo pagbibigya informations sa mga participants nyo nang di kau masira…hay………gud luck sa sunday…sana lang talaga ay walang nang bagyo….

  25. @pdelcarmen you cannot just tell them na in a positive point of view, parang additional treining nlang. most of them are after octoberun this coming sunday, and they are much disappointed sa hassles brought by this nonsense re-scheduling of event.

Its sad that most of ppol here are whiners..sana in our own way nghnap tau ng info if 2loy or ndi,considering that its in the news n my bagyo dw..if ndi ncancel my mgrreklamo na its unsafe to proceed with the run,nung cnancel obviously mraming ngreklamo dn..mhrap pgbgyan ang ibat ibang demands,its a run for a cause,if ittxt lahat ng attendees dun lang npnta ang part of the proceeds..they posted it nman sa website,and there are comments here na ngconfirm na ndi 2loy and nlaman nila sa branches ng avon..

  29. clear skies this morning. i even saw a participant (wearing Avon singlet) walking towards MOA. sayang at hindi ko agad nasabihan na cancelled ung event. i hope that the organizers would entertain a refund especially to those who will be running on octoberun

    To all avon organizers, Can you scheduled nalang po ng ibang date… kasi for sure si possible Typhoon Ramon naman ung dadating and maraming conflict sa mga ibang event for Oct.09..
    I think organizers are worrying about the guest stars of GMA..,ok lang naman po samin kahit wala sila…☺
    The important thing is the run and makatulong..
    Sana po nag decide kayong mag cancel nung saturday if postpone or tuloy..
    nka-quote pa naman na sa race kit ung
    “rain or shine” tsk3…

  36. bago ako mag pa reg sa avon..sa miss earth ako naka register..and im thankful to them na maaga sila nag inform sa amin na kansel ang run.at di kami nahirapan mag refund..then here is avon.last minute tinanggap nila reg fee namin..yun pala..may balak na sila i postpone..ngayun..pahirapan na makontak sila sa numbers na binigay nila..kelangan pang tawagan pa daw ang CEO nila??..para ma refund?..grrr..wag ganun..di ko pang hihinayangan na mag leave sa work ko para lang masabi sa inyo na hindi maganda ang ginawa ninyo..

  38. wala rin nag-announce kahit sa GMA7 na postponed..sayang punta namin, di namin alam cancelled, syang ang gas at toll..galing pa kaming Cavite.. may nag-advise ba dito sa pinoy fitness about this?

  39. @fil-whiners comment #125… people here are obviously affected because they paid for this. although this is for a cause, it is still their hard earned money. texting isn’t the only method they can reach us. that is the reason why they took our information like our emails. whats the use of them getting our emails if not to inform them of these urgent message. i understand that not all has internet access or cellphones but that is the minority. so please fil-whiner, stop whining at others whining for legitimate reasons. it is their right anyway. last i heard, this is a democratic country. :)

  41. hey caviterunner,eto n nmn tayo parang yung run 4 ur lyf,still from cavite pa din me..di nkapagcheck ng email agad,hapon n ng sat.ko na nabasa yung posts mo na postponed..hehe sayang yung effort ko sat.pa lang naluwas na ko to be prepared pag me race ng sunday para di ma late..nag lsd na lang ako ng umaga..but the thing is ang ganda n ng sikat ng araw that day..mukhang ds sun.di na nila ipoposponed napakarami n ng kasabay ds month db?buti n lng di ako nagreg for oct.run..hayz…

  46. no offense pero, ang papalpak ng ginawa nilang pag dedesisyon sa event na ito.

    1. its a rain or shine event
    2. hnd ba nila napakiramdaman na prior to that date (oct2) matagal nang maganda ang panahon at walang ulan
    3. LAST SUNDAY WAS SUPPOSEDLY ONE OF THE BEST CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING. walang ulan, yet walang sikat ng araw and there’s enough breeze to cool down the runners
    4. hnd man lang sila nag inform in a more effective way, or nag effort man lang
    5. they never bothered considering the date for rescheduling this run… sinasadya yata nilang itapat sa major run, which is Octoberun Festival, or hnd sila marunong mag research ng availability ng date na pipiliin nila

    haysss… nakaka dismaya hnd ba?

    -ako nag agam agam na kung matutuloy o hindi on that day.. kaya oct.1 tried to call avon taft kasi nga may mga narinig na ako at nabasa dito sa posts na cancelled na daw kaya tumawag ako at confirmed nila yun..

    another thing is, dun sa website na nakalagay din dito ay may abiso din sila na cancelled..

    sa tingin ko hindi sinasadya yun dahil during that time marami ng flooded areas.. siempre hindi na nila icocompromise yung safety ng mga runners…considering na sa seaside ang venue.. so mahangin etc..

  58. Kung kailan umuulan ska naman nila itutuloy. How weird! Last sunday is better for running. Bakit nila itutuloy ngayon? I cannot understand the logic.

  59. Ok naman ang run and since it was a rescheduled event, konti lang ang runners kanina. Good thing the weather cooperated this time. Weird lang that the photobooth isn’t for free, may bayad sya.

  61. yes your right tuloy sya pero di naman sya bagyo na tulad last week na marami ang affected areas though maganda nga weather last week… gusto lang nilang makasiguro sa weather kasi kung makikita mo ang location ng run its seaside area… kung may mangyari ba sa mga runners sino ang mananagot… sana makita mo na ang logic na hinahanap mo romeo…

  67. omg….pwede pala akong makakuha ng top 15 kung di lang ako late..instead na kulang half hour lang takbo ko,naging 1hr…super late at ganadong magpuno ng jeep si kuyang driver nung papunta kaming MOA..hay..sayang tlga..grrr….annyway,enjoy pa rin naman kasi dami kong nakuhang products..hehe!
