So much has happened in the past two years and while 2020 remains to be the year nobody expected to change all of our lives drastically, we have learned so much from all the challenges we have faced as individuals, as a community, and as a nation. When the pandemic hit, we had to take a step back from our pursuit of outdoor adventure and stay indoors to stay safe. Nevertheless, many of us made the choice to shift into a healthier lifestyle to keep ourselves fit. As the restrictions eased up, the love for outdoor pursuits was prominently seen in sports like cycling.
In line with this, Recreational Outdoor eXchange or R.O.X., the leading outdoor hub in the country which offers premier products and services from the top brands in the world, is opening a cycling hub at their flagship store in Bonifacio Global City. The bicycle area in the 3rd floor diversified their existing bikes to include units for all types of bikers. A bike service area and bike café will also be included in this space. R.O.X. also doubled down on their sustainability initiatives by launching their Green Project where they focused on recycling and using eco-friendly materials and practices to keep the environment clean. They also transformed the 2F into a hub for local enterprises that share the same passion for the outdoors and sustainable practices that preserve the playground we all call home.
With the problems that people had to endure during Covid, R.O.X. developed the mobility category to cater to the needs of a generation who wanted a form of escape while improving their mental and physical health. The Community Cycle Hub is open to the public and will cater to the needs of all cyclists from bikes, bike accessories, apparel, and many more. The bike services will be functional by 1st week of September and the hub is set to have a bike clinic at R.O.X. BHS this September 25.
Launch of Bayanihan Initiatives for the Local Communities
Bayanihan is one of the most treasured in the Filipino culture. No matter where in the world you find yourself in, ask a Filipino about Bayanihan and chances are he will tell you stories where he has received or was given help to get people back on their feet without asking for anything in return. Bayanihan simply means, for the “bayan” or country. It has no direct English translation making it distinctly Filipino, threaded into the tapestry of our heritage- and it is this communal spirit that we shine a light on at R.O.X.’s event last July 27, at R.O.X. BGC High Street in Taguig.
R.O.X. has set up the Daluyong Exhibit, featuring art from the UP Mountaineers. This exhibit will be on display until September 4, and it showcases paintings and sculptures from unique perspectives, reflecting the diversity and creativity of Filipino expression. The proceeds from this exhibit will directly benefit the continuing rehabilitation of Siargao as it recovers from Typhoon Odette. Mr. Bubuy Fransisco, founder of the UP Mountaineers, also shared that part of the proceeds will be allocated to help build the Sierra Madre Range to be the longest and safest trail in the Philippines.
