  1. 1. Walang nakaready na drinks sa hydration station (gatorade) in the first 10k.
    2. Kulang ang obstacles ng 21K runners (we passed 5 obtacles only).
    4. yung 21Km category was just 19Km.
    6. Wala naman yung food and drink eh (nagkaubusan?).

Sana next time, mas maayos at mas mahigpit sa mga obstacles para seryosohin ng mga sasali sa event na to. sa totoo lang, unsatisfied ako sa race event na to.

  2. The run was actually a mess, sorry…. Walang masyadong marshal sa may ccp area to lead us; hydration, nagkakaubusan ng baso, at dun sa Macapagal area, wala ng hydration; ung obstacle, kulang from advertised. Not like last year, medyo ok un. The scafolding maze, pangit, mas maganda last year. Pagkatapos ng race, nagkaubusan n ng food. At WALANG MEDIC SA FINISH LINE….nag cramps ung friend ko sa finish line and i was asking for a medic pero wala ata, so i have do something regarding it. Tough the medal was ok compare to last year… This is the nth event of mens health and everyyear mukhang pumapangit ang preparation, no wonder walang masyadon nagregister…

  3. I’m so disappointed. ang daming palpak. starting sa mga marshals. ideal ung mga marshals na nagduty sa Conquer 2013. chinicheer nila ung mga runners which is nakakamotivate at nakakatuwa. ung mga marshals dito sa run na ito, mauurat ka lang. haha. then naubusan ng gatorade papers cups! may God! sponsored kau. how come naubusan ng cups? hindi na nga malamig ung H2O eh. tapos nung naubusan ng cups ung gatorade station, pinatutungaa nlng nila ung mga runners sa pitcher. Grabe! what a mess. I’m telling you guys the truth. hindi sulit ung 950Php. saan napunta ung ganung kamahal ng reg fee? hindi pa nga complete ung mga obs na nakapost sa internet eh. ung mga Hurdles, wala. sana man lang nakabawi sa mga freebies, but wala din. may food and drinks sa stub but walang kaming nakuhang food. kahit mas mataas ung prce ng reg fee kaysa sa ibang run ngreg parin kami hoping that maganda at tlgang reasonable ung price ng reg fee. pero wala tlga. yamot lang.

  4. Agreed on the comments on:
    1. Baggage claiming was a chaos
    2. Food and Drink giveaway ran out of stock

Area for improvement aside from the items mentioned above:
    1. Put km ran. Walang km marker

    NOTE:
    – i actually enjoyed the run coz well managed ung number of participants. Hindi masikip.
    – the giveaway cap and shirt was nice and well made
    – since konti participants, maluwag parking

    Just my two cents :)

  5. Sadly… Medyo sablay nga… Halfhearted yung preparation… Hydration was not good… Baggage counter is chaotic… Saka parang hindi nga sya 21km… Its less than actually…

The only thing i like is hindi congested ang run kasi hindi ganun karami ang population ng runners… (Malamang nasa candy rush lahat)

What is important is i had a good run despite everything…

  6. https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6098570 Simply plotting out the map shown in the photo poster for 21k yields nearly 18k not 21k. This is the most disappointing part of the race. Forget the complaints about hydration, food, baggage, obstacles. The main rule of organizing a run is that going over the distance is okay but never to go under the advertised distance. The organizer owes an apology for that.

  7. I ran the short distance only, 5k. Given that this event’s highlight is the obstacles, my mission was to try all of them out. I’m a bit disappointed that there were fewer obstacles now compared to last year. However, because of proper population management with every category divided in waves, there weren’t any bottle-neck queues for the obstacles. Hopefully, next year’s event will feature more obstacles.

I commend the women participants this year. They seem well prepared and needed minimum assistance.

Marshals were plenty especially along intersections and within the obstacles. Perhaps they should have been spread out evenly most especially to the farthest distances.

As for the hydration problem most encountered, I suggest to bring your own hydration. It’s really something that can be easily remedied.

Kudos to the sponsors. I especially love the Bridgestone booth where in they gave away T-shirts and ballpens for those who can perform simple exercise routines. In return, Bridgestone will donate to charity.

Finisher shirt could have been better if it was dry-fit. But I love how it looked. Medal looked great as well.

More obstacles and sponsor promotions/giveaways please!

  8. Congrats to the organizers! You really cannot please everybody. What is important to us was that we enjoyed and finished the run safely. And it didn’t rain.

To all participants complaining here, next year mag-volunteer kayo na maging organizers, so that you would know how difficult it is to organize an event.

      • I STRONGLY AGREE WITH SERIOUS RUNNER! This event was a total mess.

To Vinz, how would the organizers improve if we would not speak up!?

      • Mahirap sagutin mga tanong mo dito. Meet me sa Slimmers World Megamall; let me know when. I will answer your questions one-by-one and face-to-face. I’m Vinz.

may nanakawan pa ng phone, may natumba, may lagpas 1 hr na naghihintay…

overall… palpak talaga. I think its because hindi sila mashado naka kuha ng budget since konti lang sumali at naagaw ng candy rush ung runners.

mas nag enjoy ako last year kahit puro sugat at injury ako. though natuwa ako sa medals, finisher shirts for all categories, and sa cap.

sabi na eh, kulang ung distance. kala ko nag pr nko, un pala kulang. hehe. anyway… goodluck next year. kung may sasali pa

    • Not an excuse… They charge a premium rate and so the services paid for should be at premium as well. If you think the organizer did a good job.. I feel sorry for you.

      just saying…

    • to you Vinz, you obviously dont get kung anong kino-complain ng mga runners.
they have a very strong point and i totally agree with them.
how about you organize a kamote run gamit yang kamote mong pag-iisip.

    • Hey men, bakit pa aila nag organize ng event if mahirap pala at di nila kaya? Think about it… Hindi libre ang run… Bayad yun at may kamahalan…

  9. No medic in the area…i notified the marshalls 3 kilometers before the finish line, but i have to look for them after i finished the race. No body seemed to know…in the end I had 4 stitches in my right hand. They should have put a cushion below the monkeys bars as the bars were slippery.

    • Agree with this comment, i slipped my grip when i was about to grab the 3rd bar and no marshall that assist me when i fall. My face was an inch away from the bar when i finally control my momentum. It end up bruises on my knees, pero runner eh takbo pa rin till the finish line.

    • My take is… sana naglagay sila ng medic sa lahat ng area na may obstacle. I had a bad sprain sa tires palang. I didn’t see any medic or di ko lang nakita kase di sila visible. I was hoping meron sa finish line or sa mga booth pero wala.I don’t know di lang siguro ako masyadong naghanap. But the point is, dapat visible yung part na yun. Sa klase ng takbo na to, it’s one of the most important thing.I still enjoyed it though.

    • i was also looking for the medic… had a bleeding laceration on my left lower leg and a big bruise after i slipped on the first wall, yung mga medic nakasalubong ko na dun sa corner ng aseana ave, and i know nakita nila that my left leg is bleeding, binale wala… good thing im a nurse… tsk tsk tsk… I’ve expected too much from this race…

    • And wala nga talaga ako nakita na medic dun sa finish line… pati sa assembly area… tsk, end up washing my wound with powerade…

    • Ang kapal ng bakal sa monkey bars. Slippery and walang cushion sa ilalim. Hays.

  10. I agree with the shortage in distance. I paid to run 21k and not 18 point something kilometers. It was pretty disappointing.

      • True, it was my first 21k run. Kala ko may food and drinks na mkakain after ng mahabang run, only to find out wala na. Grabe worst run and most expensive run ko to so far. Grr.

      • i dont know bakit 950… pero 950 ang siningil sa akin and yun ang binayaran ko… pero ok na yun, pagkain lang naman… nalimutan ko na sana but after 2 days, wala pang race results… anyare mga tol?

      • Im sure hindi sila naubusan. susko mga bata, sponsored ang event. most event organizers know that maraming sobra sa mga freebies lalo na sa food and drinks. malamang ang nangyari lang eh alam niyo na. nagburakutan. may mga naguwi at nagtabi. yamot all the way.

  12. so far, compared to the past urbanathlons, this one was a breeze! not much lines in the obstacles, i guess because they provided larger or more units of each to avoid waiting. the hydrations are not perfect but they suffice.

    ####

id just like to commend the marshalls at the rope network climb … i lost my shades there when i tumbled upon going down due to a ridiculous “shaking” act of an a*hole runner. i was not very hopeful il find it when i go back there upon finish, but i gave it a try and i found out they kept it for the owner. i may have bruises and all but this honest act says a lot about them crew. i salute you guys! @MensHealth @SummitMedia

    ####

on a side note, this urbanathlon is on a smaller scale than the last years, so i guess that explains why the baggage and finishers kit counters were a mess. i guess these are the room for improvements for next years race.

  13. agreed to some of the comment, food and drinks should be anticipated sa number ng registrations. Total chaos sa baggage counter, shortage sa cups (for hygine safety maling mali lahat ng runners umiinom sa mga pitsel) no choice kasi. Hope this would be a lesson for the next event.

  14. For 850-950php, this was such a rip-off.
I was expecting a premium, well organized run.
Wala ring food after the race. The only drink was a bottle of gatorade. Woopeedoo.

I really enjoyed the concept of this race, I hope next year mas maging organized.

  15. I’ve done 3 Urbanathlons in the past. This is, by far, the worst!
The distance was short – as in blatantly short! Even those without GPS watches were able to notice.
I wonder if there are real runners in the MH editorial and marketing teams.

  18. what i like:
    >> the cap, something that you can wear anywhere and it tells everyone that you have finished the 21K Mens health Urbanathlon
    >> Lesser time we need (compared last year) to pass the obstacles
    >> finisher shirt (for me) its better than yellow finisher shirt last year
    >> ung pang shave. haha first time ko kasi maka receive ng freebies na ganun, di ko pa nga ginagamet eh. haha.

    what i don’t like:
    >> the singlet last year was better
    >> the medal last year was better (for me) kc we can use it as larnyards.
    >> the baggage counter was a mess, because of very little space that they have setup to cover all bags. I think it should be arrange by numbers and by category. (my foreigner na nag claclaim ng bag: nakakahiya lang: sobrang disappointed, only in the philippines daw)
for some runners it took us 30mins just to claim our bag. grabe hirap!
    >> kulang ung obstacles
    >> wala namang food and drinks. meron naman tlaga, di lang nabigyan lahat.
    >> ung route less than 20k pla

    i know mahirap mag organize…
    so many preparations…
marami sumali dahil marami my gs2 ng race nyo…
and marami naniwala na my food and drinks…
    kaya sulit ang reg fee…
but all of a sudden there are some unexpeccted circumstances…
(di n sana kme gagastos ng 100+ for our breakfast kc my food and drinks n sana sya…)
we need to make bawi on Mens health 2014…
sasali p rin ako next year. fun experience p rin nmn sya for me.

ung baggage tlga pinaka dpat ma improve….
    pag d p rin na improve un…
tips for other runners wag na mag baggage counter…
or bring your yaya to make bantay of your bag.
or bring your most unique bag-for example: pink na maleta or rainbow color na backpack, or bag na gawa sa banig… haha ung madaling ma distinguish…

we’ll wait… maaga p nmn 1:30am plng ng tuesday…. hmmm. mmyang hapon cguro? or bukas?

Pictures huh!!! pa-tag sa fb… dpt kilala nio n kme… haha

  19. I got 9.77km from my gps nike watch. Ok na sumobra wag lng kulang. Hindi sulit ang 10k run. I dont care about the freebies but runners care for the complete distance to measure their PR.

  20. sablay to the max… wala man lang loot bags, food, at medics… kahit free magazine man lang.

kinakabahan pko nung umpisa kasi last year ang dami kong injuries, kala ko mas challenging ngayon, pero palpak…

    di nadaanan un ibang obstacles.

i want my money back! or at least some refund. sagwa ng event na to

  21. The only way to improve the Urbanathlon is to totally change the organizer, come on MH they’re the same orginizer all throughout. Why not try other organizer. Cover nga ng magazine pinapalitan nyo monthly.

  22. i have a suggestion re: baggage. when depositing the bags, stay a bit and see where the marshall will place it. that way we know where to look when claiming (unless they reaarrange the bags during the race).

i usually do that kasi. i still waited in line a looong time (na dapat sana e pinapahinga na natin) nung men’s health, pero nung pagdating ko sa table, nakuha ko agad ung bag. pinakita ko sa marshall ung bib ko sabay turo asan yung bag hehe.

hindi ko din nadaanan ung first two obstacles. ung tires una kong nadaanan. hindi ko alam kung anong nangyari haha :)

  23. This event made me appreciate my hydration belt so much more.

Last hydration station, yung mga runners drinking directly from the pitcher… Grabe naman…

Also, no trashbags pala… Nagkalat ang used cups.

  24. when is the posting of the result? I expected that it will be out sooner that that of Milo Marathon 2013 (Manila leg) since the runners were not that much.

  25. First time to try this run because a friend invited me and I get excited in the obstacles. I enjoyed the run and agreed on the negative comments above. But the reg fee is not worth it as the organizer promised as many including me did not avail the food and drink because it ran out of stock. This will be my first and last.

  26. This is my 3rd time joining the MHU and this year was totally a mess. I even invited friends to try this event because its fun & challenging based from my previous experiences. Nahiya tuloy ako sa kanila. I’m hoping Men’s Health or the organizer will give an explanation sa kapalpakan na nangyari or else it will be the Doomsday of the once a Good & exciting event.

  27. 42 2038 Leo Patrick Godinez Iii 00:30:31 5 M..what happened to the 5 K result..dis race bib # was mine. I even posted it on Facebook..so disappointing.

  28. “the most terrible mistake that could not be easily forgiven nor forgotten is one’s race result be messed up with somebody else’s. I joined the 2013 MEN’SHEALTH URBANATHLON not because of tangible returns but the glory and honor that I did finish the race fairly..I didn’t care about the food, the drinks, nor the prize..i patiently waited for the result, and just to have this bull***t. one of the people at the finish line had me written on that piece of paper for the record..and yet,…….it was all messed up. Somebody should explain.
