My Bum on a Cobb
by: Risha Lai
“Ahhhhhh…” yes, the first thing that came out of my mouth – the sound of satisfaction and relief. Being a novice biker and having only started with triathlon early this year, this has only been the second alteration I made with my built bike, first was the cleats, of course, and the rest are still ‘stock’. I was hesitant during the first few months, I wasn’t sure if the areas where it usually hurt should and will always hurt since I’m not the type to show signs of weaknesses nor share any discomfort feeling especially with my guy biker friends and after all these months, I still really couldn’t get the hang of it.
I ride Lulu, the name of my bike, 3 times a week at around 6 to 7 hours in total, and it’s only the past month that I’ve finally decided to change the saddle. My tailbone could no longer endure the continuous 4-hour Saturday rides, most especially on a long boring flat road. If only my bum could speak up and complain, I for sure will never hear the end of it.
So finally, after reading and hearing good feedback and recommendation from fellow riders, I got myself a Cobb V Flow Max. (Thanks to Eva of Light’n Up Marketing for assisting me and my fellow newbie, Jeff to pick the perfect model for us)
I don’t consider myself a strong rider; I’m not the type who can already stand on their bikes while pedaling on an uphill cause I’m still not that comfortable so I prefer to sit during the entire ride.
Therefore, at the recently concluded Century Tuna 5150 Triathlon in Subic last June 23, 2013, I found photos of myself happily smiling and sitting down while conquering Tarlac Road…
I had a fun time reaching the top of that road (I’m just not sure about the boys struggling behind me, hehe) as I saw Glenn Colendrino of Primo Cycles, Jami Ramirez of Specialized, Marge and Eva of Light’n Up Marketing all cheering for the riders at the sidelines!
To conclude, indeed for me, Cobb V Flow Max is the ultimate panacea for all the discomfort! Truly a heaven sent for my precious ASSet! So if you’re feeling some discomfort after every ride, it might be a sign for you to hunt for a new saddle, gp try your bum on a Cobb. Cheers!

How much?
I’ve ridden a Max for over a year and a half. Still feels great. I use a Plus on my TT bike.
