  1. baka kasi madamay sila kapag nagorganize uli ng running events.

Greentennial is a separate group from La Salle Running circle.

Yung greenovation escaped my mind who organized it. ok naman sila.

these two events/organizers are associated kasi sa La Salle rin.

  2. I run 21k also yesteray. Meron din na medics pero di mo nga lang alam kung par kanino sila sa Red Cross or for the other fun runs but still there are medic stations. Maybe i was with the first half 21k runners kaya naabutan ko pa tubig. I got a bottle mineral water pa close to the finish.

Charge to experience na lang guys.

  4. @ Mr. pinoyfitness
Any race discussion for ACCESS 2020 and/or Red Cross Million Volunteer Run? hehe… Just kidding Sir…hehehe…

My theory regarding the overlap of Red Cross Run and Animo Run:
Maybe Animo Run organizers took the permit first before the Red Cross Run (on whoever gov’t. agency/ies they must secure a permit for the run). But when Red Cross Run organizers pass their permit, no choice but to approved it. Who can disapproved the run of Red Cross? Anyone? Red Cross is Red Cross.. Even on our part as public school teachers. Do all teachers want to run? But our bossings don’t give us choice. Otherwise we must explain in writing since it was a Division Memo. No choice but to meet both organizers in the middle. That is why Red Cross rallied that they will just give way to Animo Runners while passing to our crowd at Quirino Ave. cor. Roxas Blvd. BUT organizers cannot control every detail of the said bargain. Yah, indeed Animo runners passed our crowd but when they made their U-Turn, disaster follows. Because our crowd multiplied in addition to the arrival of Mother Lily together with the Stars she carried at the Run.

    My humble theory…

DLSU RC please explain to all affected runners what happened… ADBR(Ateneo) immediately issued apologies after their “palpak run”…AFAIK… Please Do the Same… Be Humble and Accept All Criticisms.. Be Responsible.. Good Luck on the next Animo Run!( if )

  6. Mother Lily ran for Red Cross?! xD At may bitbit pa syang mga celebrities?! Hehehe I also planned to joined this Run, first 21K ko sana since Alma Mater ko ang La Salle. Pero I decided to back out since I’ll be doing Corregidor 21K, baka kulang na sa recovery time. My friends won FREE QCIM racekits kaya dun nalang ako sumali at tumakbo ng 10K. 4 of my running club friends ran this ANIMO run and yun nga, lahat ng nasabi na dito eh echoed nila last Sunday when we met up for breakfast.

  7. Wag nyo po kaming bigyan nang dahilan na “this is a run organized by the DLSU running club and not DLSU mismo”, for me the University should also be responsible for the actions of their school organizations.

If you’re a DLSU student or alumni, pasensya na….mainit ulo ng running community sa inyo ngayon

  10. …buit pa yung Haribon Million Hectare Challenge, pati mga street children of Roxas Boulevard e, nakatikim ng Pocari Sweat at mga siklista e kahit nakiagaw ng tubig, madami pa rin natira for the runners :)

  11. haaaayyyyzzzzz…. i’m about to click the send button na and send my email to La Salle Feedback Page but last minute i changed my mind coz everybody deserves a second chance and I’m sure you tried your best as well, there goes the nice side of me again… just do better if there’s a next time guys…

  12. this is my 3rd post,

  14. uhaw run talaga. may mga konyo guys na nagbigay samin ng water (on our way home na to ah, bec we were parked across roxas blvd near traders hotel) we asked bakit ngayon lang tong tubig na ito and a guy said “we’re very sorry but red cross stole our water.” in his konyo tone. kakainis lang. kawawa ang mga 21k runners…actually lahat ng runners dahil no water!

i understand this is not organized by dlsu but dls running club pero yes, you put shame on the name of our alma mater.

buti nalang may apples from smart! hmp!

  15. @mike post #110
-second chance ba? this is their 9th version na.. dapat alam nila yun na runners need MORE WATERS…

    @ruc post #114

    @kimlee
    – yan din ang una nilang sinabi sa akin.. wag ko daw idamay ang school kasi patakbo naman daw nila yun.. pero kahit na anong sabihin nila, tama ka! dala-dala nila ang pangalan ng school..

  16. may nakasalubong ako na mga students sa taft na kilala ko.. sabi ko how’s ur 10k 21k ran? guess what?! magsusumbong daw sila sa student council.. which is a right move i think.. para mailathala sa pahayagan ng school nila ang nangyari..

  17. It was a bad case of crowd control. The 9th Animo Run organizers along with their hired policemen and the Red Cross group failed to manage the crowd of Red Cross Runners. It wasn’t because there weren’t water stations prepared for the Animo Run runners, because there were water stations (3 leading to the US embassy, and 2 going to bayview) situated along the route. What caused the problem was the crossing of Red Cross Runners to the Animo Run route which was supposed to be exclusive to the 9th Animo Run until 7am. Red Cross runners drank the water that was supposedly for Animo Run runners so by the time the Animo Run runners reached the water stations, there was no more water available for them.

The organizers do CARE for their runners and upon learning of the trouble with the water stations, they immediately sent additional water along the way which may not have reached all runners due to the traffic caused by the influx of Red Cross runners clogging the pathway. However, there are simply things that are out of the organizers’ control such as the huge surge of Red Cross runners extending to the route for the 9th Animo Run.

True, the 9th Animo Run had its drawbacks and it may have been one of the worst running experience for the runners due to the lack of water, but it also had highlights such as the good timing system provided to the runners. It may not be enough for most people but they (the organizers) did the best they could to alleviate the chaotic situation yesterday.

Instead of criticizing and killing the Animo Run, let’s give pointers for improvements to the young (student) organizers of the run and not dishearten them from organizing any further runs. The Animo Run, afterall, is not a profit-based run but an annual FUN run organized by students to promote running and general fitness.

  18. gravy tlagah…to pah yon naranasan ko takbo … nah nakainom akoh ng tubig doon nah sa bayview .nag-agawan pah..21k ako dapat with 2.5k my water station, anong nangyari mesa lang nan doon wlang tubing..tapos my marami pang nag short cut nah runners kasi nan doon yon red cross, tapos wala pah palatandaan kon nakaikot bah o hindi ang mga runners.

  19. we are very sorry for the inconvenience we brought to all the runners. the organizing committee gathered data to explain what really happened last Sunday. again, we are very sorry for what happened.

  20. Ditto!

Worst Fun run ever! Buti na lang pala I did my first 10k run sa isang Bonifacio Day Run else hindi magandang memory ang 1st 10k ko…

    1. walang hydration. More than 5k na wala pa ding tubig. My friend wasn’t able to recieve any hydration kasi naubusan. They had to buy water on the way eh ako…I couldn’t buy kasi I didn’t bring any money.

    2. walang marshalls! andaling mandaya.. I was tempted to cheat talaga pero I just wanted to finish the race…

    3. blockage sa starting ng red cross… Talo ang lakad for pasig…

Wala mang warm up routine to start the run…

Next time, Assign Marshalls and post markers. Simpleng pa-print lang ng tarps yan and magtalaga ng student volunteers or volunteers. Dapat may hydration stations. If you don’t plan on giving any hydration. Give out bottles before the race or inform runners na walang hydration. Tapos, pwedeng mag-postpone kapag may conflict sa route…

I paid P450 sa 10k overall and hindi siya worth! I may still support this next year kasi SFA ng DLSU ang nagpa-aral sa aken… Basta hope DLSU Running Club improves next year’s animo run!

    • Hi Guys, the organizers already contacted me and is deeply apologetic on what has happened, they are still constructing their formal letter to address all that has been written in the comments. I think most of your points has already gone across and considered by them, they are not defending nor denying the facts that has been written. For now my only request as the admin of this site is to wait and hear them out.

  21. I am a DLSU alumni and I was embarassed because of how the race turned out. I encouraged friends pa naman to join me in this run. Sayang, this could have been a great event dahil may mga beneficiaries.

To the organizers, please learn from this. Pinaka-basic requirement ng isang race ay adequate hydration, standby medical teams, and a safe route. Bawi na lang kayo sa 10th Animo Run.

  22. @barefootdaves: I got a major headache after, and I’m blaming it on the lack of water. Had to skip work yesterday since my head still had that dull throbbing pain.

I also saw some of the results. How come others became “invalid”?

  23. I think the invalid time are those caught making a shortcut and those times that are too fast to believe meron kc naligaw o nagshortcut diretso sa finish line agad.

  24. Frustrating! Ala pa ko sa 10k list ng result. I finished the race at 55 mins tpos ala ako dun. Yung kasama ko s 3k meron at ko wala.

  25. bakit wala ako sa results? 3k run ako. bib number 1216. nagrun ako tinapos ko pero wala ako sa results.. help please! need this for a class

  26. I admit nag shortcut ako because wala na kong water or energy drink nung nasa 10Km na ko (I’m in 21Km category).

  29. tama rin yung time ko. may dala akong stopwatch and the result matched with what was posted here. inclusive syempre dun sa oras yung 5mins i spent dun sa bottleneck which i didn’t bother to subtract.

@guest: you say that “Red Cross runners drank the water that was supposedly for Animo Run runners so by the time the Animo Run runners reached the water stations, there was no more water available for them.” so what made these red cross runners think that the water is for them? were there signs/tarps which declared that the water stations are for la salle runners only? and where, may i ask, were the other water stations located other than the those where the red cross runners congretated?

i ran the 10k and the only place where i was handed a bottle of mineral water was when i was making a turn in front of the japanese embassy back to CCP.

  30. i’ve aired my sentiments na in the post i made yesterday, seems like we were heard na guys… kudos to the running community… bawi na lang tayo sa future runs we will join… i am 101% sure that this is a big lesson to the organizers… we’re the pics btw?

  31. the list seems to be incomplete. i cannot find my boyfriend’s name nor number in the 5k list. we started at the same time though he finished way ahead of me, so i think he should be in the list. what are the possible reasons for not seeing his name on the list? or any of the lists for that matter.

  32. haha wala name ko sa results.. pero kasalanan ko din kxe binulsa ko yung chip.. cguro hnd na-detect ng scanner (hnd ko alam tawag) ok, next time, if gnun yung texture ng chip, sa sapatos tlga siya haha my fault xD

  33. @ roman #136 yah your right.. me too, I admit nag short cut ako. na scan din ang time ko and for the first time nauna ako sa teammate ko hihihi.. practical lang alam ko kasi if ever tinuloy ko malamang dko kakayanin wala na kasi akong hydration..

make it positive guys., masaya naman after kasi tapos na pero badtrip talaga habang tumatakbo..,

    Thanks pinoyfitness…

  36. ..nakakalungkot nman pala ang naging pangyayari buti na lang na-late ako ng gising kaya d na ako tumuloy, balak ko pa naman magPR sa 21K dito..would have been disaster for me..God is good.. runners bawi na lang sa ibang runs..sabi nga nung isang boxer di naman lahat ng laban knock out..cheers!

  37. nakaka awa nga yung mga runners nito… they were forced to find their own route to pass when they reached the redcross starting line… yung mga pulis nila walang binatbat sa crowd ng redcross.

when the run leaders for this event was approaching, ok pa kasi the redcross crowd gave them way kasi may naunang motorcycle. its like crossing the red sea at hindi mo alam kung kelan ka sasakluban.

when the other runners were approaching, frustration will show on their faces kasi wala na yung race route nila.

i feel sad for the participants of the animo run and redcross run…

  39. During the run I have met a girl also with a dry throat asking me where is the way for 5km run, I replied diko rin alam eh. She also said “I was supposed to run 5k but I end up running 10k” then I replied again SAME FATE “I was also suppposed to run 21k but end up running 10k” Lol…..

    My 1st 21K is disastrous….

  40. To the organizers, we are waiting for you to come out with your statement…are you afraid or are you just ignoring us and let time just pass until we all get tired of waiting?

  41. you almost killed us all, pano na lang kung naging death run ung race na to, it’ll be history, pasalamat kayo walang nagdemand sa running club nyo, what a shame!

  42. To our beloved Animo Run supporters,

We would like to thank you for the support you have shown us by joining the 9th Animo Run. The event turned to be an extraordinarily challenging experience for the organizers due to the disregarded agreement between our side and the simultaneous organizer of “The Red Cross Million Volunteer Run”.

Since our objective is to raise funds for a cause, similar to Red Cross’ goal, we have given concession for the Red Cross run organizers to make use of our secured route to make their “run event” possible. However, after our kindness of sharing our very own road “permits” on various areas such as Quirino ave-Roxas blvd, Bukaneg road in CCP, Macapagal Blvd and Seaside Drive of Mall of Asia, in agreement that they will NOT obstruct (by any means) our runners, that they will let the 9th Animo 10k/21K Runners finish first before they actually start, they simply did not comply with our straightforward conditions in exchange of the above mentioned areas the right to conduct their “run”.

The Red Cross Volunteer Runners practically blanketed the passage of our runners. They have consumed our provided water for Animo Runners from different location of stationed water to the finish line; they have blocked our water supplies which will supply the runners from 10K uturn to the 21K uturn; they have misplaced our signages which confused the direction of our runners; , they have stopped the roving ambulance near Vito Cruz because there is no way to run the vehicle due to thick crowd.

To you Animo Run supporter we apologize for the inconvenient experience to some runners who were scarcely provided with water. We have supplied bottled water to some runners but we must admit that there were runners who left the site disappointedly thirsty.

To add on this, the 9th Animo Run has nothing to do with the Animo Run during the past years and with the coming years. Every year, the Animo Run is organized by a different set of officers. All of the deficiency will be noted for the 10th Animo Run officers and will serve as a lesson for this year’s officers. We commit to provide you an exemplary run event next year and it is our yearning that you will still support the DLSU Running Club.

    Thank you very much.

    Sincerely,

    Michael S. Torchiva
    President
    DLSU Running Club

  45. I ran the 21k event and There is obviously a shortage of water stations from start to finish. We only collided with the red cross runners along Roxas blvd. Before and after that, we had the roads on our own and we still couldn’t find any water stations with for every 1.5k to 2k.
We know for a fact that the event was disorganized and we were left to fend for ourselves. It will be hard to accept an apology when one does not take full responsibility of his/her acts.
I attended another run last Sunday which was organized by another school organization. They had enough water stations however, most of the 15k runners got lost at the start and end of the run. The saving grace was that there was ample water and hydration and freebies at the end. After joining 2 consecutive runs not organized by a professional group like runrio, greentenial, etc… And having bad outcomes, it is a lesson for me now not to join events (especially 21ks) not unless the event is well supported and handled by a professional.

  46. i dont’t agree with the explanation but apology accepted… red cross runners blocked the water supply? u know that there’s a red cross run why didn’t you set up early? to me, this run became a nightmare because of very poor planning, you guys should have anticipated the worst case scenario….anyways, wala na tayong magagawa kasi nangyari na… let’s all move on….

  47. My first time to run. Why? For a cause eh.
Since I joined, I was aiming to get good results, though not a runner. Well. I didn’t mind the hydration, because I ran the whole 5K carrying 1.5 liter of Gatorade (talk about toning my arms), but what I cared about was I felt dinaya ako ng mga nauna sa akin (someone “finished” 5k in 20 minutes. I finished the race in 35 minutes.

I can take the lack of organization because I once facilitated events when I was in college, but I cannot take the LACK OF INTEGRITY ng ibang runners.

Well. This is just one disastrous event, but at the end of the day…

ANIMO LA SALLE :) That’s 100 years of religio, mores, and cultura. :) And this fun run is JUST ONE EFFIN’ DAY.

  48. 9th animo run has set the bar in “how to organize a disastrous run” category. Every other run will be gauged of their “disastrousness” with this run, unless of course an even lousier running event takes this crown away from Jeoffrey Chua and company.
