Fitness Junkie (noun)– a person who has made working out a part of their daily lives and dedicates all their free time to working out and/or doing physical activities.
Have any of your friends told you that you are always in the gym? Maybe your family has asked you several times why you keep counting your calories and macros? Or have you missed some night outs because you have to train or workout?
If you answered yes to all these questions, chances are you are the fitness junkie/gym rat. And there’s nothing wrong with that! We all love fitness here in Pinoy Fitness. But just to make sure, we listed our top 10 tell-tale signs that you are, in fact, a fitness junkie:
1. You own more workout clothes than regular clothes
Whether you open your closet or check your laundry, there will always be a surplus of Drifit Shirts, Muscle tees, tank tops, athletic shorts, compression tights, and for girls, sports bras. Heck, you might even wear sporty attires even on a casual day out with friends!
We can’t blame you though, workout clothes are really comfortable and you just can’t stop wearing them.
2. You start convincing everyone you know to workout
You have become that friend who always asks people things like “Uy tara takbo naman tayo!”, “Samahan mo na kasi ako maggym”, and the like. Whether it’s because you simply want a KASAMA or you really want to help your friends be healthier, you just can’t stop sharing fitness with your loved ones.
3. You are either training, on the way to training, or planning to train.
Well, what can we say, it’s literally the best part of the day and we just can’t stop looking forward to doing a workout.
4. You are in a bad mood when you skip a workout
“No. I can’t just workout na lang tomorrow. I HAVE TO WORKOUT TODAY”
Yeah. You’ve probably said that out loud or thought about it whenever you were forced to skip a workout. The frustration of missing one is very hard to explain to others but we know how you feel and it really sucks.
5. You love being sore
Some people dread it, some fear working out because of it, but you…you actually enjoy feeling sore once in a while. You know what amount of work it took to feel that way and well, that’s something you can really be proud of.
6. You have a fitness vocab
DOMS, PR, AMRAP, HIIT, LSD, WOD, Bulking, Cutting, etc.
These words may sound confusing to other but you have done your research and spent so many hours in the gym and training to the point that fitness, sports, and health-related jargons are already part of your vocab.
7. Exercising is pretty much your solution to everything
Feeling angry? Go workout. Frustrated with work? You just need a run. Working out has become your escape and/or some sort of meditation away from adulting problems!
8. You eat and actually enjoy healthy food
You know how much overeating, undereating, or eating junk food can affect your health and body. So it has become so natural for you to check the nutrition label before munching on something, it’s become natural to opt for grilled instead of fried, and even natural for you to ditch some of the desserts.
9. You have a workout playlist
Your Spotify or music library probably contains at least one workout playlist that’s sure to pump you up for training and you can’t stop perfecting this workout. We can’t blame you though, sometimes all you need is the right song to break your Personal Records!
10. Rest days are the hardest
You know that having a proper amount of rest is just as important as training to allow your body to recover….but you simply dread the idea of not hitting the gym or going for a run. Right?
