Amidst tragedy, Mary Joy Tabal accomplished a 5-peat championship in today’s 41st Milo Marathon National Finals.

The 28-year-old Cebuana marathoner finished the race at 2:58:01 giving her a historic 5 straight championships in the National Milo Marathon

Today would have been a good day to defend her title as the Milo Marathon Queen as the event would be held in Cebu, her hometown. But this race became a physical and emotional battle as the SEA Games Gold Medalist grieved the loss of her father, who passed away yesterday. Mary Joy was caught emotional upon crossing the finish line.
