The Philippine Marine Corps as the “AFP’s Premier Force in Readiness and the Nation’s Force of Choice” has been keeping the southern part of the archipelago in equilibrium for years. Not known to many, the Marines have been deployed in harsh and problematic areas, including the coral triangle, not only to neutralize threats that can destabilize the country but also to protect the area where the best maritime environments of the world thrive. The Marine Corps has gone beyond its traditional mission and has dedicated part of its service to the preservation of a sustainable ecosystem. Senior Marine Corps generations claim that the once abundant aquatic resources between these islands are sadly and slowly dwindling.

In support and recognition of our troops’ bid to conserve the country’s natural maritime resources the Philippine Marine Corps launches the first “Philippine Marine Corps Marathon” with the theme “KATUNGKULAN: Takbo Para sa mga Kawal”. The 42.2 km race, which will have side events in the 5km, 10km, and the special 25km “Caybiang Challenge”, is scheduled for Sunday, 15 November 2015 at the Marine Barracks, Gregorio Lim, Ternate, Cavite.

  1. Reading the front runner mag site, 25K is called “Kaybiang Tunnel Challenge”. I guess doon ang U-turn ng 25K kaya ganun ang tawag…

  2. @Cat the 25-km Kaybiang Challenge is special in the sense that it will take runners through a tunnel built under a mountain. The views are not the usual scenery you find in urban road races and the rolling terrain poses some degree of difficulty. Thank you for your interest.

  3. RunStrong The schedule was not intended to be in conflict with the PF Sub-2 Challenge. It just happens to coincide with the anniversary of the Philippine Marine Corps.

  4. @frontrunnermagph Thanks for the response. Registered na kasi ako with PF but I hope meron uli next year. I’ll surely join then.
