Anthony Dean Borg a Canadian national runner and ultra-marathoner died during the R399 run at the Cebu Business Park held last August 8, 2015.

According to the news, Borg, at 52, collapsed just 2 kilometers from the starting line of the 12KM race he signed-up for. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced DOA.

What’s ironic was that the Borg participated in the R399 run in memory of Ramie Igana, relay participant who participated in the Cobra Ironman 70.3 in 2012 who who died of pulmonary embolism during the 90-kilometer bike leg.

In one news, it was mentioned that Borg got into a freak accident before the race, while sitting on a motor bike near the starting arc, he suddenly fell, hit his head in the gutter, but still decided to join the race. On another news, doctors mentioned that Borg suffered cardiac arrest. We’re not sure if these two incidents are related, but Mary Jean his wife mentioned that they have no plans for an autopsy.

Let’s all pray for the friends and family of Anthony Dean Borg, may his soul rest in peace. It’s sad to know that another fellow runner has fallen.
