Gunhild Swanson of Spokane Valley at 70 became the oldest woman to complete the 100.2 mile (160KM) course in a time of 29 hours, 59 minutes and 54 seconds, just 6 seconds before the 30 hour cut-off at the Western States Endurance Run 2015.

The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run is the world’s oldest and most prestigious 100-mile trail race in California.

Watch the video as Swanson approaches the finish-line and the announcer starts the count down. The final 100 meters was filled with cheers and encouragement from her support crew, which includes her friends, her son and grandson.

According to the reports, this was the third time Swanson ran at the Western States Endurance Run and in 2005 she set the 60 to 69 age-group record of 25:40:29.

This is truly inspiring.
