English professional track and road racing cyclist Elizabeth Mary “Lizzie” Armitstead suffered a serious crash just seconds after winning the first stage of the 2015 Women’s Tour in Aldeburgh.
The incident was captured in the Youtube video below, based on the clip, Armitstead crossed the finish-line with her arms up to celebrate her victory, seconds later (not clear in the video) she seems to hit a barrier, spectator or a group of people.
Cycling Weekly later on reported that Armitstead indeed collided with a group of photographers + Mick Bennett the Technical Director of race organizer SweetSpot.
Reports also indicated that 30 minutes after the incident, Lizzie was taken away on a stretcher with her head in a brace. We hope that she is ok.
