It’s normal for someone to stop running and focus on recovery when you’re injured, much more if you’re walking with crutches. But Leah Thorvilson, 36 from Arkansas, decided to take on a different challenge.
Last Saturday, Thorvilson unofficially broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest 5K… on CRUTCHES (One Legged Run, Female), when she crossed the finish line with a time of 57:24 at the Walk to Remember 5K in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Her best marathon time was 2:36:26, and her best 5K time was 16:02. After a surgery last May 7 to repair the meniscus and a cartilage defect of her femur, she was advised to rest but despite her injuries, the desire to compete remains.
“I could sit around for six weeks and do nothing, or I could get up and move,” she said.
Today she unofficially holds the World Record Title for fastest 5K on Crutches with a record time of 57:24. Injured? So, who wants to try and break this record?
