1st!
This does it for me. I’m officially out of RU2 and all other RunRio-organized events, except Milo. I don’t have a problem with people grabbing the opportunity to make easy money, after all, joining is voluntary, but I take exception when it undermines legitimate advocacies – hence, RunRio, please respect the legacy of MILO!
On the other hand, I think maganda na rin at nagiging ganito ang pricing ng takbo. I remember not so long ago 300-400 makakapag-marathon ka na. This will hopefully allow runners to rediscover the true joy of running: exercise and spending a pleasant time being out in the sun, or moon, or stars, for free!.
I don’t have a problem with people grabbing the opportunity to make easy money – you think easy money? At anong respect the legacy of MILO ang pinagsasabi mo dyan?
Everybody has his/her own opinion, don’t be bitter if yours doesn’t align with others.

TUMPAK !!!
WOW…what the prize?!?! F*#^
Run rio na naman…..?
HMNN…PARANG RUN RIO DIN…
2nd
3rd! yun may tatakbuhan narin sa june23..
sana may finishers medal.. maxadong mataas presyo eh.. may ppuntahan pero dapat may balik prin..
hehehe close to 1000 na ang Half Marry, kawawa pobre mananakbong pinoy…
hirap pa naman maghanap ng magagandang events….
medal oks na kahit walang finishers’ shirt.
hahaha! kulotski strikes again, kaya akala ng iba mura pa rin ang milo kahit nag mahal eh, kasi nga ang mahal na ng ibang events, ang hindi nila napapansin masyado ng mahal yung ibang running events kaya nagmumukhang mura, sooner or later the trending increase in reg fee will pull him down, yung paraan nya ng pagyaman yun din magpapabagsak sa kanya
tama:)
Last year ata may medal at madami laman ang loot bag.
Aarg! Mahal..but if it says “all proceeds” will go to its beneficiary pede kong pag isipan pa (:
@banesto pero sa presyong to ni coach rio.. dapat both medal and finisher shirt meron ang runners.. isa narin yung way para makahakot ng maraming runners at the same time malaking fund for the beneficiary of the event..
Time will surely come 8 when some runners truly understand why there is a frequent increase of reg. fees. Considering the points mentioned by joseph above, other factor is due to high demand of runners for medal, FS, loot bags/freebies, etc… This is what I noticed for most of the runners asking for those nowadays and yet no one can ever blame them because those things are they want and they are happy for it. The truth is, even without those demands, we can still run with or without a cause. Medal & FS are only a reward for a runner who strive really hard to get those. I’m not against for any RD or RO. But for my own personal point of view, I will never run nor join in any running event if I found it too expensive – that’s all. We have our own freedom to choose which is right for us and not to make us in burden for the high cost. Besides, we do have our own meaning & definition WHY WE RUN.
As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
God Bless.
thank you for the feedback and comments. for those inquiring about the finisher’s medal, yes we do have that for all 21k finishers. all proceeds will benefit children assisted by World Vision – worldvision.org.ph
SAME HERE,WALA KASING TAKBO SA JUNE 22 AND 23. TAPOS NG MAKITA KO NEW!!! OK!!! KASO PRICES…OK???…ISIP ISIP MUNA….SANA MAY SUMBAY NA MURA HE HE HE
mahal….
Let us support this guys.
This is one run that should not be missed.
for me, kahit ganyan ang price as long as organized naman yung event why not?
Yakult 16k is 300-400 in the last 10 years and is one of the most highly-organized running events. No fuss lang, run, finish, get awards kung meron, get your shirt and Yakult, and stay a bit for some chat and to look-see. This is nothing personal, and I am sorry to take such a sledgehammer approach, but ang problema sa mga runners e they think party o fine dining ang running events kung saan dapat pampered sila.
i second the motion sir RED
OFW Run, anyone?
then organize your own race event and let’s see how it turns out given your preferred registration fees. why can’t runners see the bigger picture and just think of yourselves? increasing prices are inevitable, just like all other life necessities. basic economics.
bkt nmn bro?hehe
Gawin na lang natin tong purong run for a cause. Salamat. :D
100 pesos increase from last year. And runrio events are known for well-organized events. I think this is reasonable guys. And secondly, all proceeds will go to charity.
NOT “all proceeds will go to charity”.
anong sapatos? Also sabi sa taas “All proceeds of the event will help more than 8,000 children this year through World Vision’s Child Sponsorship Program.”.
I’ve been a World Vision Sponsor for a year and this is a good advocacy.
Very obvious that this is going to be a fund raising project for a good cause, let’s not complain about the joining fee.
World Vision is for a good cause. RunRio is for a good cost!
haha may tama ka!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i agree!
Kahit mahalan e alam nilang marami pa ring kakagat.
magaling magorganize ang Run Rio. All proceeds will go to World Vision. Support the World Vision Run 2013.
World Vision Run 2013 is a fund raising project for a good cause.
8,000 children are still waiting to be sponsored. Support World Vision Run 2013.
The rates last year were:
500m PHP 300.00 (not available this year)
3km PHP 550.00 (not available this year)
5km PHP 650.00
10km PHP 750.00
21km PHP 850.00
Therefore, the only increase was in the 21 kilometers with an additional PHP 100.00. The five and 10 kilometers remains the same.
Last year’s organizer was Pep Squad Events and Marketing.
wag muna kau sumali pra magbigay ule cla ng 50% discount (sana), just like they did sa battle of the sexes,
tama hintayin nalang natin :)
Its understandable, the sentiments of those who just wanted to make sure that they’re getting their money’s worth… other than their passion for running and supporting a good cause. But this is definitely one legitimate event that will make every runner’s kilometer count and go a long way to help more kids thru World Vision. Even Coach Rio is pitching in on this cause guys! He’s helping WV not for the money, but for the kids. Hope we all do the same. LETS RUN BECAUSE WE CARE. :)
ALL proceeds will go to charity. Saang part naging negosyo eto?
Singlet design and other details included on the registration please.
online and onsite registration starts on MAY 20 actually. info here needs to be updated. see other details such as singlet design and event poster at wvphilippines FB -> https://on.fb.me/Z6hyx3
unang tatakbo ang 5K?
hehe nagkabaligtad sila ng 21K
as indicated, gunshot schedule says 21K – 4:30am, 10K is 5am and 5K is 5:30am
“gunshot”??? ndi kya magkapatayan dito? hahaha, ah laugh on a very heated discussion on reg fee
hehehe…sorry po can’t help..
online registration starts tomorrow May 21 according to Runrio FB page :)
i’ll join this run… nag enjoy na nakatulong pa…
online registration is already up
https://runrio.com/2013/05/world-vision-run-2013/
of all the runs I have joined these past years, I consider this as the most legit one. If you are cringing on reg fee and don’t think its worthy, then simply don’t join.
There are runs I don’t join bec I find just too hyped and their causes unclear (whether reg fee expensive or reasonable), but I don’t think Im better than those who joined.
Really, it comes down to personal choices and principles. But I say, the universal rule of respecting each other must be observed by all.
Registered online for 21k. Enjoyed last year’s run. 2nd time to join this.
Hi. How much yung extra fees for registering online?
No additional fees RunBot, walang delivery eh. :)

Was in riovana last Sunday and the staff there doesn’t have a clue about the registration
onsite registration starts today, May 30
where is the link for the online registration.
You’re right, marquez. Some of our running enthusiasts have no experience yet in organizing an event like this that’s why they have negative feedback particularly on the price of registration. Let’s just understand them and let’s have fun during the event. Let’s support its GOOD CAUSE.
Hi PF,
Please correct the gun start info. :) It might confuse some runners.
Yes please… the updated gun start time according to runrio organizers is actually 21K – 4:30AM; 10K – 5:10AM; 5K-5:30AM… please do check out the event landing page starting this weekend – http://www.worldvision.org.ph/run2013 for updated info. thanks! :)
Updated all info guys!

kulot ikaw ba yan? haha
Wala daw eight…
preho tayo @johndbiker first time ko rin RUNRIO event.. husay talaga at talagang msasabing nabalik lahat at napawi lahat ng pagod at uhaw sa way ng paghhandle nila ng event.. kaya nga sasali rin ako dito eh.. pero sana may finisher shirt..haha :)
Sabi nga, you get what you pay for. I’ve joined Runrio races like Nike, Milo at RU at ang masasabi ko eh maayos at hands-on siya sa pag-organize ng running events. I don’t get bakit siya ang binabash pag mahal ang prices when there’s so many things to consider which was already explained above. :)

Tsaka may charity nman pinupuntahan yung proceeds..
Enjoy running
i agree supercaloy. Khit taasan ng 50 bsta ngkaron lng finisher shirt. :)
World Vision world wide na organization yan kaya makaka siguro ka n ang proceeds e siguradong mapupunta sa mga “FILIPINO CHILDREN” see you there guys! GODbless!
I agree with Tubong Probinsya . . .
Puro kayo medal at finisher’s shirt!
Alienware the 2nd in the making! :P
haha.. sorry, di ako kumakain ng saging at umiinom ng gatorade.. i have my own gels..
naghihinakit si unggoy sa saging. lol. You’ve been a newbie once so better keep your words sweet para everybody happy.
Here is my reason why I feel strongly about this race as a runner and as a person, https://cheapanggangdiva.wordpress.com/2013/06/09/why-i-feel-strongly-about-this-race/.
I don’t care what others say. Been that route for how many times this kind of things happen in all fronts of anything running ever since I started joining in one and reading and joining forums. I have my own reasons for joining races, my own criteria. But I believe stronly in this one.
done registered on line….gusto ng katawan kong tumakbo….kahit mahal p sya…may pang bayad ako eh..he he he..bisyo ang takbo sa akin..
Registration po is until June 19 pa. :)

I registered for this event because of the cause (charity). But I agree that runrio races has been very pricey kaya hindi ako sumasali sa ibang runrio races na. hindi naman po yun dahil wala kaming pambayad. I recognize the fact na maganda mag-organize ang runrio pero grabe lang talaga yung fee. There are other events na nasalihan ko na maganda ang pag-organize at reasonable ang regs fee like QCIM and bull run, which are not runrio organized races.
Another thing, yung pick up of kits. I get the point on the organizer’s part na mas convenient for runrio ang pag-distribute ng kits ng 1 or 2 days lang sa iisang venue kasi mas controlled nila. Pati yung pagpapagawa ng singlets and other items, mas makakatipid sila kasi kung ilan lang ang registered, yun lang ang ipapagawa, no excesses. But this is not convenient for runners. I mean, kaya ka magre-register halimbawa sa SM North or Sta. Rosa kasi yun ang pinakamalapit at convenient sa’yo pero to go to BGC on a different date just to pick up the kits is very inconvenient! Magastos po sa pamasahe at oras. Dati naman possible na you get your kit upon registration. Just my two cents.
As much as possible, I wanted to avoid having to post a comment in this. But then again, having learned the art of distressing, I would actually stress myself even more if I don’t let this out of my chest.
For a year now, I have tried to avoid the runs organized by RIO. Without necessarily boasting, I am not one who would mind having to pay for the registration fees no matter how pricey they were, after all, it is the sport that matters. Although to be quite honest, I thought even then that the registration fees of RIO were really expensive, apart from the fact that when you examine the lootbags they give away, you would be amazed by the way they seem to shortchange the runners. I mean, a few pieces of sachets of shampoo and medicines? I could only offer a sheepish grin everytime I saw the contents of the lootbag. But then again, I did not mind because to reiterate, it is not the lootbags, giveaways, singlets and perks that attract me to a particular run- it is the love of the sport. Ultimately, I gave up having to take the lines just so that we can get the lootbags. I did not want to see anymore. It is enough that we perspired and enjoyed, after all this is why we do it, di ba? We even travel out of town just to join runs, thus, spending isn’t really important- for the love of the sport.
What threw me off the RIO runs were when for three instances, I saw him shout at the runners when he was directing them to follow his instructions. The first time I saw him do this, I just set it aside thinking that maybe the “makukulit” runners were really getting to his nerves. But when I saw him do this the 2nd and 3rd times, particularly to two runners who almost shed tears out of embarrassment, I realized that it was really his style. Nevermind that the runners must be too tired to immediately accede to his instructions, some may actually have failing senses already because of the tireness. He really had to shout at them. He did not mind that these are customers who spent hard-earned money just so that they can join the runs. It must be beyond RIO to ponder on the realities that the money paid by these people, more or less contributed to the money he used in purchasing his porches- the ones he brandish late night at the BGCs. Talk about being sensitive to the emotions of your customers, talk about courtesy and politeness, talk about the principle “the customer is always right”. This threw me off- I told myself to stay away from his runs. But while this decision was personal, I was decent enough not to influence my other colleagues.
This week, my partner who works in the evening, registered us to join the World Vision Run when she was off from work. Because she did not have much time to check, it was already late when she realized that the run was organized by RIO. And as we expected, the registration fees were pricey again- but more than that we are again faced with this unconventional method, characteristic of a RIO Run of claiming your race kits on a later date, in a designated place. Unlike other runs when you get to receive your kits upon registration, RIO does use the unconventional, requiring you to report to his designated date and place to claim for kits that you have earlier paid for.
Knowing RIO’s legions of defenders, I am sure that they will ask “What is the problem with this?” Oh there is!! For one who is quite busy with work just so that he could earn himself a living, he would have to worry about having to go to RIO’s designated date and place to get the kits. In the process, he would have to worry about how to squeeze into his already busy schedules a trip to RIO’s designated place, spend additional money for fuel and possibly snacks because you must be hungry already by the time you receive the kits. And for those who cannot leave the office, they would have to take time to open their emails, print the confirmation blah blah and then execute an Authorization Letter authorizing someone to receive the kits on his behalf. By the way before I forget, you also would have to give an extra amount to your representative for his taxi fare and meryenda. If you don’t call these inconveniences, then you must be one with patience reaching the heavens.
If you are one who had all the time because you just stay home, isn’t it inconvenience too that you had to leave home, miss a really funny episode of Eat Bulaga, travel to RIO’s designated place and spend extra hours and money with all these traffic? For RIO’s legions of defenders, whether you admit it or not, you too are inconvenienced by these! It cannot be denied that all of these inconveniences translate to extra added costs to the already pricey registrations of RIO’s runs. To reiterate, for all the legions of RIO’s defenders, you cannot deny the fact that if the other runs are able to issue the kits upon registration, why can’t RIO? Is there reason behind having to make the runners within striking distance from his stores in requiring them to go to his designated time and place to get the kits? Is this “business technique”? Without a doubt, these are inconveniences that only the “blind” or stricken with “blind adulation” would ignore.
May pinanggagalingan po ang concern kong ito. Because my partner arrives from work at 3 AM in the morning when I am asleep, she is not able to remind me that I have to open my email and print it together with an Authorization just so that she can get the kits. And because she did forget to remind me, when I left for work today sans the email and authorization, you can just imagine how much inconvenience it was for us to meet halfway today, find internet connection, with all our busy schedules just to comply to RIO’s unconventional methods.
I am sure may mamimilosopo na naman na magsasabing “hindi naman kayo pinipilit na sumali dito eh” or “subukan nyo kayong mag-organize ng runs”. I hope before you make such commentaries, you would bother to read the entirety of these comments first just so that you would know where we are coming from. Likewise, before you utter such remarks, I hope that you will find time too, to ponder whether you have not been inconvenienced by RIO’s unconventional methods, be it in the form of cost or time. And if you are not, I am glad for you. You must be gifted with patience that is beyond this earth. And since you have this kind of patience, maybe you can ponder too whether there is a need to be sensitive to the needs of the runners, RIO’s customers, in alleviating them of the inconveniences. They are the lifeblood of RIO’s business, the ones who contribute to the success of his company, and as such, are they not worthy or deserving of being excused from these inconveniences? Instead of offering your templated comments of “hindi naman kayo pinipilit na sumali dito eh” or “subukan nyo kayong mag-organize ng runs”, why don’t you exert an effort to make this reach RIO’s attention. Hindi na para sa inyong die-hards ni RIO but for those who are not, to make them stay or attract them back.
And if you are one who would say: “inggit ka lang kasi naka Porsche si RIO”, just tell me the time and place and I would be very glad to pick you up and give you a tour of my garage. You certainly miss my point.
By the way, after we got our kits, we decided to give them away to others interested to do the run. I am sure there are other more worthy runs, less stressful, less inconvenient. And we don’t mind directly submitting our donations to the beneficiaries of World Vision.
If you read this, find time to respect our opinions the way we have been respecting yours. Peace!!
very well said
hello everybody, please don’t be angry or disappointed with Rio naman, the guy’s just earning a living- galing sa hirap yan sa UP. Anyway, simple lang, ‘makitakbo’ na lang tayo di ba- k lang walang giveaways, i would enjoy the friendly competition.

well said mark.
You are nitpicking on small things but failed to mentioned the conveniences Run RIo events give to runners on the actual running event. Out of all the runrio events I’ve joined, it is ALWAYS well-organized and they DO listen to suggestions. I think you need to stop and ponder as well why Runrio decides to give away the racing kit on a specified time and date. Have it ever occur to you that they do this to cater to all sizes of runners instead of the conventional “first come, first serve” claiming of racing kits? And I think it is more convenient NOW, when Runrio decided to give away the lootbags(Sole Racing and World Vision) upon claiming of racekits. Ang hirap pumila sa lootbags when you are already tired. Unconventional?Yes maybe but I say it is more convenient and makes more sense.
I am a happy customer of runrio and the fact that his events are always sold-out are just a testament that his unconventional ways are actually more effective if only small-minded people would find the time to rationalize the reasons behind it.
Wow! Small minded? Those are very strong words you got there. So if you come up with a scholarly composed comment, using carefully selected words, to be able to express your thoughts, you still think these people are small minded? His concerns were quite clear, that while he doesnt really mind paying, he decided to avoid Rio runs for reasons that were clearly explained. At maliwanag din sa kwento na if it were not the confusion, he would not have registered in this run. And you think he is small minded? He gave a very good point about the inconveniences which is applicable to all, no exceptions, meaning to say whether we admit it or not, we all fall victims to. And he is still small minded as far as you are concerned? God, those are pretty darn strong words. You are gifted! Apart from the fact that you stubbornly blind yourself of the fact that you are inconvenienced by having to go pick-up your kits, you seem to not realize that runners arent exclusively the rich, the well to do ones, but include the poor, the average earners. If the well to do people are inconvenienced by this unconventional methods, im sure the poor and average earners feel it more. Dont lend a blind eye on this. Sa lenguaheng kalye, wag kang plastic. You experience the inconvenience too. So you dont have to pretend that you are not affected by the inconveniences. Oh and by the way, it should be “to mention” not “to mentioned”, you big mind!
Ps, Rodeo, sana mgkaron ka ng super importanteng lakad which would fall on the dates you are to pick up your kits, baka sakaling maliwanagan ka. I wanted to think of a more drastic scenario, pero baka tawagin mo kong small minded eh
Very well said. Inconsiderate! Nagtry din kami mgpapic dyan kay Rio and dinecline nya. Di kasi kami sikat

got my kit :) see you on sunday (sa mga nag register)
Kaya am not running in any that he organized.
@Jeena: Die-hard agad? Hindi ba pwedeng satisfied customer muna? Thanks for that wonderful post because it proved my point about simple-mindedness.
PS – I have a flight to Australia during the We Run Nike Manila race kit claiming. But instead of crying to the universe, I looked for a solution to my problem. Isip-isip lang din pag may time.
PPS – The next time you decided to act like a grammar Nazi, please ensure that your grammar and English is impeccable. Otherwise you look like tool.
Hahaha there you go! A flight to Australia and yet you would have to bother yourself finding a way to have your kits picked up! Isnt that inconvenience? Really funny. So if you asked someone to pick it up for you and in the process you gave them money for transpo, isnt that inconvenience? Or if someone did that for you, isnt that inconvenience for that person too? Ikaw ang unang gumamit ng small mind na term not me yet you fail to continue to disregard of this very obvious logic. Since you did mention of flights, i would cite one for you too. More than a year ago, i had a sudden flight abroad that i had to send my dad, with my ID, with my OR and with my email authorizing him to pick up my kits. He traveled all the way from alabang to do this, in spite of his busy schedules and it thought this was better than sending a staff because, to reiterate, he was my dad. And what did the staff say? The authorization had no signature blah blah. My dad had to call me overseas just to confirm that i sent him to pick up the kits! Hindi inconvenience to? Hindi ako bobo not to find the means to have the kits picked-up, same way that you found the means when you traveled to australia. But thee point is these are inconveniences to me, and to you too! And tutal you mentioned your point about distributing the loot bags together with thr kits to lessen the lines after the race, if the organizers can do this, why cant they manage to improve the system by a same day registration and release of the kits. Kaya nanan nila kasi magagaling sila. Now if you stick with this stand after all, i hope that you realize that getting the loot bags after the race is entirely different from getting the kits before the race. Pgkatapos mo tumakbo,, you have the option of not getting the lootbags anymore. Anyway, if you are one who is after the run, okay lang na wala ka ng lootbags, ang mahalaga nkatakbo ka. What about the kits? Simple- no kits, no run! Ganun kasimple! Unlike in the loot bags where you have the choice, sa kits, you dont! Kung gustung-gusto mo tumakbo, you have to go to rio’s designated place and get the kits. Mahirap ba intindihin yun? So distributing the loot bags upon distribution of the kits doesnt benefit everybody, but the same day regustration and release of the kits does. Tsktsk, since when does correcting someone else’s grammar make him a Nazi. Foul ka!
Si Rodeo ay taga Run Rio.
Die-hard agad, di ba pwedeng staff muna na binabayaran? :)))
Just sharing…
I used to be a fan of Rio. Kaya pala mahal…kasi ang manager may dalawang asst manager. yung asst manager may kanya kanya pang asst manager. encoder 15k bawat isa times 10 encoders!
Running for love? pweh!
Major turn off!
Marami pong salamat!
