sososo organizer :-(
re: organizer…
@WAVE, you are so wrong on so many levels, let me explain to you:
1. Sila mismo ang nagsabi na this year will be “about Mother Earth” / “no garbage” / “green run” at kung ano pang gimik. Kaya tama at nararapat lang na we hold them to their word.
2. Hindi issue ang cupless run. Many runs have done it successfully before. 2X is the most recent example.
Una, have all runners fill their bottles before the run. Then spread out the hydration stations considering the total number of runners and the normal hydration patter, say every 2k, Then have major hydration stations (every 5k) na may more than one area where people have enough room at hindi magmomob sa isang area lang. Most importantly, explain this before the event para handa ang mga runners.
4. Kahit na gumamit pa ng cups, dapat may tamang disposal system (I explained my take on this before) at dapat iniinform ang mga runners about this during the warm ups.
They are all part of the experience. But on the sole basis na hindi sinunod ng organizer ang pinaka-core theme nitong NG run, this year’s event is a failure.
very well said..
yes na yes your right….
lol may quotation marks talaga sa “energy drinks”
It really feels good to run and help save our Mother Earth! #EarthdayRun2013
Devant free photo shoot, run out of paper or ink.. we’ve been in line for 11/2 hour.. and woo to us.. they run out.. In the Rebisco run the adidas booth which gave free photo.. never run out.. and stay late until closing just to accomodate people waiting
there is another photobooth @natgeo I believe they will post it via website, nakalimutan ko lang what website :) anyone ?
eto na… I’m sure maraming negative comments about this run and I’ll have my co-runners cover everything na lang… if there was one good thing about this run, it is the security when we deposited our bag kase my bomb sniffing dog pa… but GETTING OUR BAGS was a different story…
probably my 1st and last for NatGeo not unless mag iba organizer… I’m just sayin…
Nice Run but the claiming of certificate, loot and finisher shirts was a mess. For 21K the 1st U-turn was also confusing.. No energy drink in the water station..
that’s why its called WATER STATION….
hehehe. Runners nga naman ngayon napakademanding and spoiled and pampered and maarte and….
LOL…nice one
BURN
and yung iba (katulad ko) walang certificate, e yung mga kasabay ko ng register meron. weird! dont tell me pick-up-in pa namen yan sa gb3, no way. you better mail to us.
@runbot
and….mabababagal. usually ang mga spoiled at pampered eh ung mga walkers na inaabot ng 4 na oras for the 21 k.
Too much traffic. Mapapalakad ka talaga eh.
It was a nice run, route good, congratulation organizers, and to all runners mabuhay tyong lahat..
baka isa ka siguro sa mga organizer…. good to you….
*for
There were no signs, kung saan ung event.. and no signs kung ilang kilometers na lang.. it was a guessing game.. ha ha ha..
sabi nga nila 12,000 runners.. and 36,000 tree’s ang ipaplant… and need help if we want to help them we are more than welcome.. sana ipost nila or email nila un mga sumali, kung kailan sila magplant.. para sa mga gusto tumulong..
un na lang ang isipin po.. we ran so we can help mother earth.. the extras not really important, but could have made them better..
magplant nga sana talaga ng trees no?
Tama yan Sir, anyway for security reason panalong panalo sila before and after 16k marami nmng sign medyo may paliwanag din dun kaya konti lang ang sign..
Over All the NatGeo Run is Great may Buko pa along the way…. haha
there were kilometer readings if you’re attentive to the pylons on the route.
it was an organize run only some areas were not lighted well.
’twas a nice run for me… Daming uphill…
The Run is very Great… dpat kasi hindi na kayo nagsabay sabay kumuha ng bag…
Guys, gumana ba sa inyo ung pagconnect sa facebook nung timing chip? May nakatanggap ba ng race results nila?
Didnt work for me
i received a notification that it is available, but when I opened it, sira ang link. di gumagana
kagabi pa yan sa my run time strider.ph
Iba ang name written in my certificate. Buti na lang chineck ko before I leave the booth. My worry is can I still get my certificate kung nagkapalit kami ng certificate nung nakasulat sa envelope ko. I just hope the organizer will still contact me to replace it since hindi sila nagdouble check ng laman ng certificate at envelope kung pareho.
Btw, love the finishers shirt…
getting the baggage and the loot bag was a nightmare. so disorganized. only one person manned the loot bag tent for 5K.
Overall, it was a nice run naman po.
it’s my first time to run ang saya kaya, comment ko lang dun sa mga kukuha ng bags nila and certificates mejo magulo ang linya, pero overall it was a nice run till next time NatGeo goodvibes :-)
overall the run was good. the glitches are considerable.. :)
Twas a good run for me kasi my 1st with NATGEO but definitely not the last basta for Mother Earth, you cannot go wrong. Huwag ng magreklamo. BIG HUGS TO ALL WHO JOIN!!!!
Bad trip… name ko sa Cert is missing one letter. Organizers need to be careful kc malaking bagay ang name tsk tsk tsk
Kudos for security but there is a lot of opportunity for organization.
Recommendation… magpalit ng organizer for next years run.
it was my 2nd 10k and I love the route, lalo na ung uphill. kaya lang nagkadelay dahil sa traffic.
Yung pag-warm-up, masyadong maaga, after warm-up, nagintay pa kami ng ilang minuto bago ang gunstart. edi parnag di na un warm-up. cooling down na.
The claiming of certificate is so slow. Ang hihinhin ng mga nag-aasist. Lalo na sa 10k Baggage area. It took us 20minutes or more just to get our bags. I don’t understand it took so LONG for them to pick-up the bag if they are already assisted with the bib# and the description of the bag ng participant. ang tamlay ng mga nag-aassist.
But it was a nice run!
Please, next year (if ever meron pa), pakainin niyo naman ung mga staff and mga nag-aassist ng event. ang tatamlay nila na parang di nila alam ang ginagawa nila doon sa venue. i-orient niyo naman at pakainin para magka-energy naman sila.
On the topic of this being an “Earth Day Run”:
1. To the organizers, I thought you gave out the bottles so that we can avoid the garbage problem we had with the cups last year? Why provide cups and break your own rules? The garbage containers were fine – elongated to accommodate mass disposal of the cups from runners (if you moved it 100 meters further it would have been perfect), but you providing the cups were the problem. You should also made this garbage disposal system clear before the event. I think this is what happens when you make a tongue-in-cheek statement “for Mother Earth”.
2. To fellow runners. I see a lot of you just casually throwing your cups on the road. I see a lot who throw their cups on the road even when there were garbage areas around. In cases where there were water stations and no garbage areas, others just threw their cups wherever they wanted and not even in the “common” area by the gutter where they could be cleaned up easily. Never mind following the rules, it is a matter of simple common sense and decency – when it is even of to throw garbage on the road! DISGUSTING!
Good Job and Congrats to all Finisher….
@wave on
It’s indeed a challenge to organizer and runners alike to keep the race route “clean” of the race trash, \m/ore so when the sponsor professes earth friendliness. Everybody needs to do their part really and not just pass the buck on one party.
I was looking forward to this event because of the prestigious National Geographic Branding. I was impressed with the cause and the idea of planting trees underoo your name. However, claiming pa lang ng singlet, I kinda had bad vibes kasi first time ako nag-register na bawal daw sukatin at magpapalit ng singlet.
Turn out was good but it was too crowded for running. It wasnt ideal if you were trying to beat your personal time. There werent enough signages to tell you to keep left or turn right or to tell you how many kilometers you’ve traversed. Also, I also observed several occasions when the BGC traffic police and marshal\ls were arguing how to manage the traffic of runners and cars passing through. Kulang ata sila briefing.
Lines for claiming of loot bags, certificates and baggage was really a riot. Inisip ko na lang, the run is for a good cause.
One more thing, I just realized that it would have been better if the 21K runners wore the white singlet. Considering that they ran much earlier (and much darker), they weren’t visible in dark places.
It wasnt all that bad. Maybe I expected too much. Still congratulations for the good turn out!
Take note, ako pa yung isa sa mga una so wala pang pila but still ganun katagal sila maghanap
Sigh…. Same sentiments here.
What a disappointment1 :(
That was awful Ian…..huhuhu. Next time huwag na tayong mag-iwan ng baggage sa mga big runs like NatGeo. They are number 1 in the list of top10 most popular runs. So expect the unexpected.
Security was top notch. Panget lang yung route planning nila. They are supposed to re-route traffic so people will run continuously but kapag malas ka, pipigilan ng marshals dahil may mga sasakyan na tatawin along the route. Talagang mapapalakad or worse tigil ka bigla sa run mo.
Loot, Certificate and Baggage claiming was lacking also.
true, may isang beses na sinusunod nila yung stoplight.. so pag green yung stoplight nung car papaandarin nila.. and to make things worse is ayun yung home stretch, which means isang straight na lang to the finish line.
.. So proud to have completed the race, and prouder for it was for a GREAT cause. I’d like to commend the workforce of this event, it was stressful, exhausting, and real pain to the nerves but that’s just part of it all so overall, that means you or we have all achieved our goals. Yes, i waited ridiculously long enough to reunite with my baggage but PATIENCE cut it short. I needed not to yell at the poor ladies who were doing everything in search of everyone else’s stuff at the same time. For you guys who thought they sucked, try to locate one particular piece from a sack of grain. I didn’t think a nasty mouth was helping them you know. I could have waited even longer should i needed to. I mean, I hate waiting myself but you don’t hear me whining about it all over the place!! We all have brains that I suppose is working so utilize that for goodness sake. Just think about the limits of every resource. You do not expect everything to abound, c’mon. One piece of unsolicited cliche advice, ‘Think before you even open your mouth’!.. I wanna ponder on what a great deal of contribution this social event conceived and kudos to everyone expressing the same!. Congratulations to all the staff and organizers as well as the race winners. I thought I was gonna win but that was a bit ambitious of me. Great motivation though. til next time!…
eh anong taag dun ongbak?
Good run and good the organizers moved the start of all distances an hour earlier – the extra hour was an extra hour of cooler weather for everyone. Thanks organizers!
next year nalang ako sali dyan! pangit daw ung run!
better yet huwag ka na sumali even one for NATGEO, malamang puro negatives lang ang sasabihin mo at ang maririnig/mababasa ng iba.
I agree with amartuvshin, i’ve been running for many runs and events.. Pero 1st time ako mahassle sa baggage counter. It’s not that wala akong patience or anything but the fact is hindi sila organized talaga.. They just keep on piling bags and even stacking bags sa taas ng isang bag making the other bag invisible na and nadadaganan.. Sa akin lang is that dapat dun palang sa piling ng bags is naging systematic na sila para systematic din pagdating nung time na kukunin na nung runners. In many events that i’ve ran, 1st time ko din nakita na mara, ing nagrereklamo baggage counter
Cons:
1. Race map was not properly labeled: u-turn, hydration, portalet.
2. Race route for 21km: some areas are not well lit, running path are narrow
3. Finish line: worst ever! There are major intersections that will be crossed. Totally kills the momentum at the final few meters and quite risky for the runners.
4. Finisher’s area: too crowded.
Cant agree much sa mga nagcomments. Pero honestly sobrang dame ng mga tumakbo. I dunno if there was any quantity control on this. Anyway, the experience was fun except for reclaiming your freebies, bags, etc…
1st time ko mag 21k after 2 months ng pagtakbo. My PR is 2hrs 46min.
dami paring negative comments ah.. di parin ba natuto mga organizers from last year’s? somehow i feel good na hindi ako sumali dito. :)
Overall, the race is not good.
so true! mas ok pa yung nat geo 2 yrs ago. tsktsk
I think 2x ang standard ngayon sa cupless run… for NATGEO RUN 7 out 10..
Hey bagito palagay ko di naman maganda na walang cups kasi pag bottle lahat dala ng runners can you imagine the line is para pumila at fill ng kanilang bottles
yung 2X po nagawang walang cups all the way… maybe maging serve yung model sa mga CUPLESS o WASTELESS run.
Sirs,
Be a responsible runner..
This event is not so organized. Lines for lootbags and baggage counters were terrifying. You’ll be in the near-fainting-state, kawawa naman ang mga runners specially the 21k runners. Event organizers also didn’t have proper coordination with BGC Traffic Management. More than 30 cars were towed during the run including ours. We ended up debating with the BGC towing services with no representative from the natgeo organizers. BGC Traffic Mngt claimed that Natgeo organizers had no proper coordination with their Unit. After couple of hours of deliberation, our cars were released at past 10:00am. Mind you, i only ran for 3k but this is the most tiring and stressful event I joined. I usually run for 5k and 10k.
To organizers, please do your jobs. Save your names for being called as organizers. Sana mag improve na next year as this is a big event and people are looking forward to be part of this event.
Bakit down lagi yun strider.ph di ko tuloy makita result..
suaveng suave ung buko juice!!
a few photos from the race for the 21km runners. Shots From 7:11am to 7:41am Near the finish line.
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.545221315528151.1073741830.545000328883583&type=1
i though magkakaroon ng stamped sa claiming ng baggage. i was just behind the barricade and people were pushing me. yung iba nakapasok na mismo sa loob ng baggage area at naapakan na yung ibang bags. sobrang siksikan ang mga tao. yung mga nakakauha na ng bags nila, hirap din makaaalis, not to mention na ang init init. it was a horrible experience. very disorganized. nakakainit ng ulo.
Pros : Tight Security was clearly felt. Enough portalets in the start. Very nice finishers shirt. Helpful km markers very km. Dami very useful freebies. Good organized route with a lot of helpers, traffic guards, and security. Bikers and roamers also present to help runners
Cons : Energy drink stations every now and then would’ve been helpful. Portalets for 21k (seriously! maski halfway lang). As mentioned, baggage and certificate collection and deposit was a nightmare. Organizers could’ve easily doubled the manning booths for this. Those umbrellas beside the hydration area where the security guards were standing, could’ve been used to make a more organized flow of people. Also, pagkatapos ng race, you can go left to hydration, or right to the booths. Dapat one way lang toh. Mrami pa umikot ikot at nagtanong kung san yung hydration. CONS can EASILY be fixed
Overall though, good race, I have to say. Yung huli lang rambulan lang talaga
Natgeo run 2013
Great run…
4. Lifeline/Medic good job kumpleto kayo at nakakaresponde agad.
5. Tent event site ok lang…
a. claiming of hydration bottles much better kung isinama na lng sa lootbag.
b. claiming of finisher’s t-shirt sobrang sablay (upon registration nakalagay na dun kung ano size ng runner unless late registrants understood na yun naubusan na kasi at pra sa mga hindi no choice ka pag-late ka nag-claim no more sizes.
c. claiming of certificates ok na sana kasi naka-segregate na according to your surname kaso maraming nawawala (isa na ako dun).
Till next run congrats to all finisher’s
kung magisa kang nag run.. you would want a proper picture.. kaya ka pumila.. for souvenir man lang.. di po dahil sa adik sa picture.. just saying dahil.. dapat din inform nila na up to 500 or 100 lang ang pwede di by that time di na lang pumila.. di nasayang oras..
tama
next time bring a camera. or hire a photographer. dont blame it on the organizers. its not their fault the event was so successful,
BELIEVE IN THE SHIELD!
souvenir ok but you can ask somebody to take a picture of you kung photobooth naman ok lng din but don’t blame the organizer its always a first come first serve basis like the finisher’s t-shirt diba buti nga sa event na ito meron nun sa iba wala kya try to understand and be patient also you @asidefrombeingatenor
Maraming salamat Nat Geo
I think mas dapat sisihin dito tayo sarili ntin (mga runners) eh kng sa loot bags/finisher shirts/baggage or kng ano mn yan pumila kaya tayo ng tama… tingin nyo ba kng tama pila natin mgkakagulo? Patience, Discipline kahit sinong organizer pa yan my makikita at makita pa ring butas…Please understand each other na lng.. we should be thankful na my organizer kasi kng wla cla wla nmn ganito kalaking run likewise kng wla nmn runners wla rin ganito wla rin organizer…. which is impossible… So enjoy na lng natin yung malalaking run again PATIENCE DISCIPLINE UNDERSTANDING…Great RUN…
I have nothing against your comment guys kasi alam ko gusto rin natin mapaganda experience ng lahat pero lagi lng ntin tandaan hidni lang organizer kailangan para maayos lahat siyempre yung cooperation din ng mga runners… Descipline…
my race result for the 21 k category is not listed in the race result.
Tama
my saging pala.. or png 21k lang yun..wala na ako naabutan..
I ran the 5k:
a) difficult to park near the starting area. my car was almost towed later.
b) first u-turn was over a center island. they should have opened up the barricades at the center of the road so that runners will not go over the center island.
c) kilometer marks not prominent
d) not enough official photographers
e) no portalets along the route. had to go to starbucks.
f) too much intersections which were still opened to traffic
g) bottleneck at the water stations bec everyone wanted to refill their water bottles.
h) chaotic retrieval of baggage and lootbags.
i)i didnt get my singlet. they ran out of xl size.
j)out of a scale of 10 i’ll give it a 6.5. the event was organized for runners by a non-runner.
nice run. mejo disaster ang baggage area. but to look on the brighter side, it went well, at least, for my standards. i took a few pictures while resting near the finish line. around 6:30 onwards.

Whiners whiners whiners….ano pa nga ba i-expect sa commercial run like this?
i tripped and fell down during the 1st km of 21k race dahil sobrang dilim at di ko napansin ang lubak! – good thing i only ended with bruises and not ankle injury. No medics on that area either, I was only assisted by a foreign runner who was also worried about my ankle. Im lucky enough that after a few ankle stretches, the pain was gone and I completed the whole 21k. Here’s a shoutout to the organizers: NEXT TIME PO SANA BETTER CHOOSE A ROUTE WITH WELL-LIT STREETS AND ROADS WITHOUT POTHOLES!!
Naku, “WITHOUT POTHOLES”? Mahirap ata ‘yan.
Im proud na i didnt used any cups sa run na to. K wala lang :)) sabi ko sa sarili ko na i shall be eco friendly in this run and bring my own hydration gear :D
oh TRUE.. maging Cautious na lang din tayo sa tinatakbuhan natin :) siguro kung lahat nadapa dun baka dapat i take consideration nila. buti n lang di kayo napanu
I’ve been running since 2004. All races from 5K, 10K, 15K, 21K. A lot of things have changed since then. Sure, this run has a lot of room for improvements. Registration fees have increased a lot too.
But, pansin ko lang. Ang daming maaarteng runners! Saging, energy drinks, photographers, singlet designs, loot bags…How about cheese with all your whines?
Takbo na lang! Just focus on your performance and see how you can be better.
Peace!
Jordan, I like your comments. I agree with you 110%.
You should know better kasi 9 years ka na pala sumasali sa mga runs. Ako 5 years pa lang but I always look at the positive side and be appreciative. We should be always thankful that we were able to reached the finish line safely, with no injury.
PEACE, LOVE & BE GRATEFUL Mothers Earth will also be good to us.
@Pilosopong Tasyo

By the way, is Sir Jerome around?
Hahaha…..nope, did not run this race. Never had and seems like never will be. Pihikan ako sa race lately. If I were you, better run the “cheap” races if you are into performance. Kaya kung competitive juice ang iiral, these cheap races are the way to go dahil MALUWAG ang road!!!! Self timing lang, ok na ako.
Hello sir J. Onga, run simple. Anyway I wanted to ask you something? How may I reach you? You may email me at [email protected].
Pala sir, ano ang sinasabi nyong run last time na pinaghahandaan nyo? Baka nandun din ako, it would be an honor to see meet you.
This was no doubt the best of the three National Geographic Earth Day Runs I completed since 2011.
https://servssports.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/no-medal-but-still-the-best/
Congratulations to the officers and staff of Fox International Channels and see you all for the National Geographic Channel Earth Day Run 2014.
Nice run, I push my self to finished my first 21K run but disappointed ako ng lumabas ang result iba ang pangalan na naka post sa race bib ko na11823.
Also no certificate was given to me after the race.
Kaya, run cheap!
gud morning help me out di naibigay ang yong certification san kaya pweding puntahan ang office ng nat gio maraming salamat po sayang naman yong certificated ganda pa naman sana makuha ko
Glad I didn’t join this event. The run last year was a painful lesson for me already. P1,150 ang fee. Me medal, pero walang finisher’s shirt at freebies. Tubig lang. ARAY!
for it was a great run, medyo kinapos ng lakas sa uphill, pero ok sa pakiramdam nang matapos, konting kaguluhan lang sa baggage counter…
Anak ng teteng ‘tong run na ‘to! Sa dinadami-daming run na sinalihan ko (mga apat na siguro), this is the worst!
Bakit, do you expect us to park in far away places? Alangan namang pawisan kami sa finish line pagdating sa finish line, ‘no! Excuse me! Ayoko ngang maglakad ng malayo.
At ang daan a, grabe! Daming potholes. Nadapa tuloy ako sa first u-turn. Grabe!
Next, water stations. Bakit walang energy drinks, saging at sponge?!!! Hello?!!!
Where are the paparazzis who will document my moment of triump? Nang may isang camera na tumutok sa akin, biglang may lolong naunahan ako’t natakpan ako. Photo-bomber mother…
Speaking of, hoy, bakit wala kaming finishers shirt?!!! Finisher din naman kami! Check nyo nga definition ng “finisher”!
Finally, baggage claim. Super-duper walang organization! Siyempre, kailangan ko kaagad ang bag ko para kunin ang iPad, iphone, at galaxy sIII ko to capture this moment of triumph. Pero it took me, like, forever to get my baggage.
Next time, organizers, ayusin ninyo trabaho ninyo. Lahat ng comments ko na ito, e, for your own good. It’s your opportunity for improvement to take it to the next level by thinking outside the box. Make hay, move forward and take home the bacon! Break a leg and make it a win-win situation.
Yun lang.
P.S. I’m organizing a triathlon team. Anybody interested?
GAY! :P
biot! hahahaha
@Jordan Michael
hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
but what about the flashlight? finish line recovery massage? live band? etc. etc.!
you win sir!
@Jordan Michael: sumama din ako sa 21k run and finished it about 2 hours and 32 minutes…… nalate nga ako ng dating dun sa call time dahil kung saan saan ako inikot ng taxi, pero d ako nag co-complain, in regards naman sa gamit mo, maikwento ko lng n ako nga bitbit ko yung buong bag ko the entire run, dahil late n nga ako….. so please dont complain on such pety things. next time bring with you your necessary things and dont leave it in your bag
