  1. @swoosh #52 .. Yes, masakit ang may ITBS need to rest as in REST muna kahit 1 month……May ITBS din ako last RUPM right knee then pahinga ng 1month tapos nawala now left naman medyo matagal na 2months pero nawawala na sya siguro dahil na din sa rest and new training (Petchay Training).

    Madaming reason kung bakit nag kakaITBS- (like mine medyo mabilis and mahina yung lower ko .. kaya change training ko walang masyadong mileage puro uphill and downhill lang).

    BTW. enjoy yung run kahapon kahit mahirap yung route for(Barefoot). i got new PR. walang ITBS

  2. sobra pa nga ung natrack n distance eh. na track ko sa endomondo 21.8K.

    marami lng siguro naghanda sa takbo kaya nka PR.

  3. @swoosh, @jules28, @dennis #103, @doggie #69, @Huwan #44…true ITB takes long to heal. There is no treatment from doctor unless it is very serious (very rare cases). After MRI and all to acertain the gravity of the injury, doctor may order complete rest and then slow therapy like walking, then elliptical and biking (sports that don’t stress the ITB) before you can resume slow jogging, and finally be able to start proper training again. ITB is typical in new runners and happens mostly through over training and running downhills when the muscles, tendons, and ligaments around the knee are still not strong enough to take in the sudden impacts they are being subjected to.

    Take heart, I also experienced it and typical is 4-6months healing time. It can be frustrating during that time as you read in forums how friends and relatives are achieving PRs and PBs while you are stuck with an injury, but take heart. Running is a life long sport due to its numerous health benefits, so treat the 6 or so months as a blip in helping your body get stronger. A year from now, you wont believe how tough your bones and muscles would have become, taking the pounding of the pavement at higher speeds and not get injured… :)

  4. Negative comment k abt sa parking sana expected na palagi ng sm management na madaming nagpapark. Sana nmn wag na nila antayn pang magkatrapik ng husto para lang sa parking. Besides KIKITA nmn cla for every vehicle na pumaparada. Maging hassle free na sana nxt tym ang parking.

    Negative comment sa run bglang nagmerge ang 10k at 21k. Bglang nagsiksiskan ng husto.

    Positive comment panalo sa hydration. I salute u gatorade!!!

  5. It was much safer to have the run hosted in BGC than MOA. There was an intersection where there was vehicle-traffic. Could have done diversion or some sort. Over-all, good event! keep it up.

  6. very organized basta RU pero may konting di maiiwasang di maganda gaya ng comment along Buendia. Kumusta naman kaya yong nahulog sa ginagawang drainage ata yon? Hopefully, ok na siya. Kudos sa mga runners na tumulong. Saludo ako sa inyo!

    Isa pa, tiyak marami guilty dito: andaming plastic cups na nagkalat. Maano bang itapon sa trash bin yong pinag-inuman? Pati balat ng saging nagkalat.

    Salamat pala don isang guy paglagpas sa KM5 na water station na kalahating dipa na lang di pa nagawang lumapit para itapon yong pinag-inuman ng tubig. Sa kagustuhan siguro na maka-PR, basta na lang itinapon yong palstic cup. Oooops! Muntik nang tumama sa mukha ko. salamat dude ha?

    Lahat yata naka-PR. Mukhang ako lang ang hindi. Well, 3 months din akong natigil after Power Run.

    Overall, the best so far kesa sa mga nakaraang RU’s. Can’t wait for the 32K this June. See you all!

  7. ang yabang naman nung dating nung isa, na wala naman ibang pinost kundi time nya for 21k… cge na ikaw na mabilis.

    congrats runners? takbo safely and iwas sa injuries. sa mga nagka injuries jan kagaya ko, lets just have proper medical protocols para maagapan injuries natin ^_^

  8. Minor correction lang, hindi plastic cups ang ginamit kundi paper cups. Pero tama pa rin na andaming natapon sa daan. Guilty rin ako dito dahil hindi ko agad nakita ‘yung trash bin na pagkalaki-laki (medyo malayo rin kasi mula sa pinagkuhanan ko ng baso).

    Sa mga nagmamalaki ng 21K finish times nila, huwag niyo na sanang i-post dito dahil karamihan naman ng pumpunta sa page na ‘to ay concerned sa feedbacks tungkol sa event mismo at hindi sa finish times niyo. Ano naman sa amin kung sub-2 kayo? Personal achievement niyo ‘yun, at wala kaming kinalaman diyan.

    • ay hello. halatang gatorade lang tinira mo. nakaplastic caps kaya yung tubig. at alam naman natin na nasa dulo ng bawat mesa ang trash bins.

  9. maganda ang pagkaka organize ng RUN.. pumangit lang kasi dun sa mga runners ayaw mapagod sa pag tapon ng basura pero willing mapagod sa pagtakbo. isipin nyo na lang na baka hindi na kayo uli makatakbo sa kalye kasi daming basura at baha na.. unti disciplina mga karunners.. para sa atin yun at sa kalikasan. peace

    sadly i think i have to agree. thanks a lot though man. i;ve already seen strengthening exercises and stretchings for the rehab of itbs. sigh. gotta keep my lower body stronger then

  11. Sana may pictures din ang 5k runners kahit group shot lang dahil super dami naman kami….sa dami ng album sets dito wala man lang ata may red na bib…para tuloy na etse pwera kami…may mga serious runners din naman sa lower categories…

  13. ok magaling ang organizers, masaya, safe ang mga gamit sa baggage, sapat ang portalet, dami gatorade kya lng bitin ako sa isa. madami tumangkilik sa Unilab Run 2013, madaming photographer during run pero ‘di ko pa makita kung may picture ako’, di ko na nalaman kung nagpakain si coach Rio..b-day pla nya.. happy b-day coach!..daming tsiks pero pag tumatakbo ka na ‘di mo na sila mapapansin kse mahihilo ka pag tumitig ka sa kanila..ayun kya may nahulog siguro sa manhole kung saan saan nakatingin dapat diretso lng ang tingin wag sa mga hita, ‘ganda ng singlet sana samahan n rin ng short sa susunod kht dumagdag ng bayad basta quality ang tahi, may live band pa, sana next tym may folding bed para after 21k pwde ka umidlip muna bago mag mall, at higit sa lahat kulot pa rin ang buhok ni coach..summer na init init!..Congrats Unilab!

  14. Sabi kasi kung anong size ng singlet ganun din ang size ng F-shirt.. Kaya nag medim ako tapos pagkakuha ko ng f-shirt pang hiphop.. lol.. Sana parehas naman ng sukat..

    based on my experience lng nman po
    sana may choice runner sa preferred Finisher’s shirt

Ok masaya tumakbo, before the race nawala ko na yung Dtag ko so alam kong wala talaga akong time,anyway at least my bib no ako, so nakuha ko parin medal ko after finish line, yun lang nga d ko pwede daw makuha finishers item kasi no Dtag no finishers item,lumapit ako a customer service personnel baka sakali pwedeng makuha, d raw talaga pwede, anyway naintindihan ko naman ang reason, pero sana man lang naka online sila at pwede naman ma check kung ako nga nag claim ng item or not, ano difference ng may medal pero walang finishers item:)

    Anyway mag join parin ako RU2 kasi well organized naman kahit papano :)

  18. sa mga nagaka knee injury, na experience ko din yan last dec nung milo, sobrang sakit. May nag painom sakin ng procosa contain nya ay glucosamine sulfate and turmeric extract, tas pinahinga ko nadin, nxt run ko condura early feb un, and everything was fine, new PR pa.

  19. There was an unfortunate incident that occurred around 5:00 Am along the Southbound road of Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, specifically right after the LRT Gil Puyat Station railway.

    Me and other runners had already made our U turn in Makati and we were on our way back to SM MOA. But nearing the LRT Gil Puyat Railway, 3 or 4 runners ahead of me heard someone shouting and crying out for help. We are shouting back asking where the voice was emanating from. Good thing there was another runner who had a flashlight, and lo… we saw a man that fell in an uncovered drainage system.

    The man was not part of the running population instead he was either on his way or back from his work. He could not move in the “sea of garbage” composed of all sorts of trash and a high water level. Me and other runners began dismantling the bundle of rope that was part of the on going construction and began to lower this to the helpless man. during his first attempt, his hands slipped and fell back into the filthy water. But on his second attempt, he was able to cling tight and we were able to pull him to safety. After the rescue, we could say that he was traumatized and was not feeling good, knowing what he had gone through and surely.. what he was able to taste.

    When we resumed running, I was able to bump into a paramedic who was carrying a hand held radio. I asked him to please respond to the accident and radio for an ambulance. After a few minutes, we were able to see the ambulance responding to the accident in an emergency mode with sirens wailing and lights blinking.

    There were around 7 to 10 runners under the 21K category that helped during that rescue operation. We were quite sure that a lot of minutes were taken off from our time but that is nothing compared to the help that we have extended to the man that needed our help at the most even if we had a race to finish.

    We hope that this deed would inspire others, not only to run, but to be of help when it is needed the most.

    dont worry,,, u know minsan blessing in disguise pa ung paminsan minsang injury… minsan kasi nakakalimutan na natin magpahinga, nakakalimutan nating pakiramdaman ung katawan natin, bsta gusto natin takbo lang tau ng takbo…

    INJURIES, EVEN FAILURES, MAKES US STRONGER & WISER AFTER… tingnan mo man,,, puro PR na popost mo sa every run mo next tym…

    TANDAAN MO,,, WALANG RUNNER NA HINDI NAKATIKIM NG INJURY… MINOR MAN YAN OR MAJOR INJURY… (^^,)

    but at the end of the day,,, wat is important is you learn a lesson… you learn to listen your body, you learn to how to choose your battles and rest after…

  21. @swoosh – certified member na ko ng ITBS family! hehe. masakit talaga sir. sumasakit siya during long run. tas 1week rest wala nanaman, tas babalik ulit. nung RU1 last sunday last 6km ko ng 21km slow down na ko, nararamdaman ko na kasi, hanggang finish line walk nalang nagawa ko. very disappointed talaga ko sa 3rdHM ko. first time to encounter this injury sa running lang, active naman ako sa basketball. minsan napapaisip ako, kung mawawala pa ba tong ITBS, kung makakatakbo pa ko. balak ko pa naman buoin yung RU Trilogy 21km-32km-42km. kaso mukang malabo na muna. focus muna ko kung paano gumaling to at mapapalakas ang lower muscle ko kesa sa forever na kong hinde makatakbo. MARAMING SALAMAT sir sa advice at inspirational words mo. :) Congrats din dahil isa ka sa ITBS Survivor! hehehe

    @doggie- sa makati med ako nagpa PT. 6 session ako. hinde ako nag mri. kuryente, ultrasound, stretching and some strengthening exercise ginawa sakin. sabi ni nurse, pahinga lang daw talaga tska focus sa palakas ng lower muscle para ma prevent yung injury.

  22. Mas accurate ang chip time. Di naman kasi tayo sabay sabay tumakbo nung gun start.

    Oo nga. Ang daming photographers. Ang problema lang eh saan mo makikita yung mga kuha nila, hahaha… Ako wala pang nakikita eh…

  24. organized tlga un event na to. the only minor problem lng nman eh un finisher shirt.. bkit ang laki n nman.. ang liit ng singlet pero ang laki ng finisher shirt.. di mo nman mapapalitan kc un size eh nka indicate n sa D tag. Attention Rio, sna nman po sa RU2 & 3 eh maayos nyo to..

  26. @Whizrunner: meron po yan… paki abangan sa unilabactivehealth.com website under multimedia tab. Kelangan mo lang na i-input ang bib number mo, pero baka mga 1 week pa nila ire-release yan. If you have been a participant in the RU-2012 or RUPM try mo since andun pa ngayon ang mga photos. Happy searching… :)

    It’s GREAT! I enjoyed it so much! (Kahit ala ako’ng nakita ni isang picture hanggang ngayon, hahaha!)

    Thanks to the marshalls at yung mga nag-prepare at nagbigay ng drinks/water – marami po’ng salamat!
    You cheered the runners, guided them, and greeted us “Good morning!” Malaking bagay po iyan sa amin..! ;-)

  29. PR!! :) i love the route. walang uphills.. haha.. very good sa hydrations, bananas and sponge.. good timing at all..

    naging congested lang ung daan nung nagkasabay sabay ang mga iba’t ibang category sa lane.. walang ibang choice kundi mag zigzag kung gusto maka-pr..

    ayos na ang pagclaim ng finisher’s shirt.. hindi na magulo at wala ng nakikipag sigawan.. KASO.. ung size nman.. mas malaki.. Naubusan na ko ng XS upon registration.. kaya Small ang nakuha kong kit at finisher shirt.. first attempt kong mag papalit ng size to XS ehh hindi pumayag ung mga crew.. Hinintay kong maubos ung mag cclaim ng 21k finisher’s kit para incase na may sumobra sa FS,, ehh magpapalit ako.. un lang.. nung pumayag na.. ehh.. malaki pa din.. haha.. hiphop tuloy.. i hope next event ehh maging ok na ung sizes nila..

  30. mag 1 week na po wala pa po bang pics? 1 ran alone at pumila sa photo booth ng pag kahabahaba nakabilad sa araw tapos pagdating sa dulo nag bugdown ang printer kaya suma -tutal.. wala man kahit isa ako pic even in the links you’ve shared… sana man lang po nasilayan ako ng camera para naman me ebidensya na tumakbo ako.. first time ko pa man din mag level up ng category after 3 years mag join ng RU.

  32. I suggest for the next RU regarding Pictures taken. Do the same way like milo marathon finals last dec did. i i got pictures taken with the race results. because of the BIB number
