Congratulations to every Filipino who participated and conquered the road of Singapore at the recently concluded Standard Chartered Marathon 2012! Mabuhay kayo!
Special thanks to my friends who carried the Pinoy Fitness banner and represented the Philippines in this race! To Czhel Macogay, Coach Mherlz Nava Lumagbas, Peachy Tamayo, Elmar Bob Tolete, Jayjay Lumanag, Nelsie Marabe, Billie Belen, Ejercito Suyo and others!

An overcrowded and congested race.
I trained for a 6 to 6:30 pace. The park area is soooo narrow one could not pace properly with crowds of pormatic but walking Singaporeans. I realized Filipinos have more tolerance for pain. Worst part is the convergence of 21 and 42 runners after the heartbreak bridge – all 40,0000 plus runners which made it look like a people power experience rather than a marathon.
There is more to brag about Philippine Runs (organization and all except the pollution). I saw the Finish line with enthusiastic Pinoy runners finishing strong, compared to the “other walkathoners” that look like they are about to faint.
I saw my record at 6:15 for the 42. Only to realize that my ranking is still at the 7,897th place or upper 40% compared to the rest of the 19,600 FM participants.
To enjoy the architectural wonders of SG – yes. But not to set new PRs. I do not recommend this race to anyone.
@andrew: I agree. Aiming for a PR is really hard to accomplish especially big events like this. Too crowded, less water stations but pretty organized. I usually just enjoy the run, the view of the SG & the freebies I got from the staff tent.
I will be running again next year plus vacation. See you next year.
nextyear kami naman jan! :D
This was a very memorable experience for me. 1st 42k for me and i did it mostly barefoot. finished 5:51 alongside the other PF runners. :) i would recommend this run for the experience of having an international run. :D
congrats to all the participants! Hope in the future i could join this event in SG..
Next year ram tayo naman hahaha
hehehe cge try natin ito next year…start na mag ipon…
Congrats coach mherlz!!
worth an experience… meeting Filipino runners from different regions/cities…exchanging hi’s and smiles… wishing good lucks… and most of all finishing strong as you cross at the finish line… and say i made it no matter what!
