  1. Congrats to all finishers lalo na sa Team Running Buddies. Sorry I wasn’t able to join you guys for breakfast.

Hahahaha :)

Cheers to all Hyspersports volunteer. The pagod and puyat were all worth it. :)

  2. The race was very well managed from the start. I participated in the 21K. Goes to show there are some “small races” out there that are very worth it. No problem with the water stations. The Tropicana Buco was a great extra although I was a bit wary and chugged water most of the time. The course is very challenging with about 4 uphills total (2 flyover, 1 british school and one in the lexus strip). Kudos to Tetra pak and the race management team.

  3. @ Dreake27 too much info dude. hahaha! 21k ba talag toh? ok time ko kanina eh ang dami kong walk breaks para hindi masyadong mabugbog prior to milo. sana may mag confirm.

    pros:

  4. The race was well organized. I ran the 5km, looked to me more like 5.5km. Can someone confirm with their GPS? Buko juice tasted strange as I’m used to these sports drinks in fun runs…maybe it gets getting used to. Very nice overall.

  5. Overall, the race was good. There was sufficient hydration. Oh well, that’s life (Isipin ko na lang na may cut-off time para medal. hahaha) . I guess I really need to be faster :) Good job Hypersports, may you have more runs to organize.

  6. congrats. didn’t enjoy much, I injured my knee kaya having problem sa pagtakbo but still I was able to finish the 21k and with the time of 2:03:35, I was able to beat my previous PR but wasn’t able to achieve my target time. congrats, good job hypersports

  8. ahh meron nga lootbag, too bad ubos agad.. lahat ba ng category meron lootbag?
bkt parang mabilis naubos, o konti lng tlga?
good thing umabot ako sa medal, nagkaubusan pla..
sa nagbigay ng energy bar, salamat sau =)

  9. Happy for my first 21k..
    I finished 2hrs 16mins..
    Officially AMA21kFinisher hahaha!

    Comment:
    Sobrang dilim sa kalayaan flyover!
ang layo ng mga water station

Pero overall happy run pa din..

  10. Event was organized well! Kawawa naman others who finished the 21without medal:( and lootbag. I hope that in future races and others as well this will be considered “Priority” dahil this is to othrers like me… A Very Strong Motivation!

9.5/10 : .5 deduction due to some lighting issue, konting bawas lang kasi sanay naman ako tumakbo ng 4:00am without proper lighting. its for other runner nadisanay.

  13. Well organized! Daming marshall to assist kaya cguro walang fotograper sa unahan hehe puro nsa FL pero masaya! Able to meet new friends!!! PR off by 2mins.

  14. it was indeed nice meeting new friends, lumalaki na talaga ang Team Running Buddies. special shout out to therookie, Jerry and Ram the Running Policeman (happy birthday ulit sir!)

    how’s breakfast kanina? :)

    until our next run.

    Team Running Buddies
    “NEVER RUN ALONE”

  16. I agree with masakituhod. There was a need for floodlights in kalayaan. Sa tagal na natin nagrarace sa BGC, is it too much to ask? Theres the safety aspect also. Para nga walang km marker. The only one i saw was Last KM in Lexus. To our dear race organizers, we would be happy for KM markers every 2KM. Cheers!

  17. What happened to this post by avidrunner last October 31, 2012?

“sir we guarantee you, just like our Get Fit Run – Manila, you will bring home lots of goods. There will be five (5) companies / brands using Tetra Pak packaging which will be giving out their products during the race day :) Not only that, other sponsor will also be giving out samples of their products. So, sulit na sulit na. Thanks for supporting!”

Well, what received earlier after finishing the 21k are these:
    – EXTRA LARGE Finisher’s Shirt.
    – No medal.
    – No loot bag. Not even 1 product from your so called 5 companies. Ninakaw? Binakaw? Tinago? Tinira ng iba? Sabi nga nila “Mabuti ng SOBRA, kesa KULANG.” Well, KULANG PO, KULANG NA KULANG.

This is not a Fun Run. Its a Run for the fastest guys on the road. If you are slow, you will definitely receive nothing.

Not a very organized run. Probably one of my worst.

Not going to recommend your runs to others though. Sorry.

  18. It is unconscionable that you would not have enough medals and finishers bag for all finishers of the 21k race considering that runners participate and finish for them- especially those that pride them self in just finishing. It is proof of their persistence, hard work, determination and accomplishment. You obviously did it on purpose, as you knew how many are registered for the race.
Please send what you should have promised but did not give me when I finished as soon as possible.
And by the way, how could you organize a race without mile markers? Please refrain from organizing future races when you cannot meet certain acceptable standards.

  19. Hi everyone,

Kung meron po na gustong makipagswap ng Finisher’s Shirt kindly contact me here at 09328878907. I have an XL shirts kasi and willing to have it swapped for a Medium Size, slightly used Fshirt. Dont worry, i will pay you additional Php100 for the shirt. Hehehe. Manila Area po ako and MOA Pasay during weekends office hours. :)

Also looking for XS and Small Fshirt. Plus Php100 din. :)

Naubusan kasi kami pati Medal and Loot Bag. Hahaha.

    Salamat po ng madami :)

  20. Just would like to commend my fellow Running Buddies who volunteered for this wonderful cause:

    Kat aka sportyspice;
    Aljim; and
    Arnold aka Sir Arnie

You made my run all the more meaningful. And for that, I broke my previous PR by 14 minutes(!) in my pikermi run. =)

  21. @ bob 27 yikes may post pala na ganun. ako kasi i got an empty eco bag near sa stage. ang akala ko you have to go through all the booths para makuha yun mga freebies, parang RUPM village style. may girl nga ako na nakita dun parang bbigay na yung bag kasi puno ng coco quench. as in hoarding. e yung sa coco quench booth naman bigay lang ng bigay kaya nag close agad sila. pero yun shirt nd medal medyo mahirap nga naman yun.

  22. …And nice meeting the following gentlemen:

    Ram aka Ram The Running Policeman;
    Jerry aka jerry; and
    Ey aka therookie

Welcome to PF and Running Buddies!

    Welcome as well, Mitchie!

Adequate hydration. OK naman ang lasa ng Coco Quench. Kailangan lang mag-adjust ang tiyan ko. ;)

Kailangan ng lights sa Kalayaan. Masyado madilim lalo na pag may oncoming vehicles on the other side of the road. Nabulag kami dun.

I feel sorry sa mga hindi nakakuha ng medal and/or finisher shirt pati na rin sa lootbag. Hope the organizer amends this.

  23. the race was fun, i broke my NB PR… i have no problem with hydration since may dala ako…need praktis pa for uphill run…

dami photographers sa may FL pero di naman malaman saan nila ipopost na site ang mga kuha nila, any idea where?

  24. nakakapagod and boring yung route! di man lang ma excite tumakbo kasi kulang sa km markers. sobrang dilim sa kalayaan. ang lalayo ng water station tas yung coco quench lasang artificial.

lis. Overall race was okay. :)

  26. @Jonah: thank you very much… is there any other site aside from pinoyfitness, takbo and running photographers?

  29. congrats kuya angel for another strong and injury-free finish! plus a new PR. :)

but still overall run was fun. madilim nga lng dun sa flyover, pag nakasalubong mo mga kenyan panigurado dmo mapapancn mababangga mo na pla hahaha..
and wala nga laman loot bags, but thats okay. wats important is i enjoy it and able to meet new friends! PR off by 2mins, but im satisfied with my results. pwd na sa milo!
    rating: 8/10

  31. So far this is may best PR in 10km category 47mins and 36secs, na break ko na yung PR ko sa Petron Lakbay Alalay which is 56mins +++

Para sa akin ay wala yung tinatawag na “BORING ROUTE” kasi pag tunay na runner ka wala kang masasabing boring na route kasi you are there to run because of love of running no matter what the route and the road situation is, don’t expect to have a red carpet road kasi baka mali ka ng sinalihan, baka red carpet Prince William wedding day like ang gusto mong lakaran, kaya don’t expect to let the organizer will do the smoothenning and covering pot holes on the road para lang maging smooth ang dadaanan mo.

Para sa mga mga road runners na laging tumatakbo sa lnsangan para di kayo maboard sa pagtakbo sa flat road, i try nyong switch minsan sa trail running atleast para maiba at ma experience nyo yung pabagu bagong klase ng tatakbuhan from flat hard surfaced road, rocky road and then to soft trail road and then may halong river crossing pa, kumbaga may variance na yung tinatakbuhan mo. pag na try mo na ito siguro pagdating sa mga runs na dating nagcocomplain ka e you will come to appreciate the real meaning of running….

  33. Hi Runners, we would like to thank all of you for participating in our event. The empty Tetra Pak cartons you submitted helped us donate Php250K worth of milk to Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Missionaries of Charity.

We believe we have done our best in staging this event for a cause successfully. Almost on-time (2 min delayed only) gun start, sufficient hydration, enough directional signage and enough marshalls & traffic enforcers / police for everyone’s safety.

    A. We apologize for those 21K runners who haven’t received medals. We found out one bag with about 95pcs of medals under the table of our technical booth after the race. We will do necessary actions to contact today those concerned individuals and send them the medals as fast as we can.

    B. Let us clear this out, we did not promise of giving out any “loot bags”. What we promised is that our partner companies will be giving out products such as milk or chocolate milk in Tetra Pak cartons.

    C. The eco bags we have given out is not our “loot bags”. Since this event is also pro-environment, a sponsor willingly offered to give out 1,500 pcs “eco bags”. Some even use this eco bag to put some products they got from the sponsors. We gave out this eco bags randomly.

    D. We have also deployed Km markers every 2km for the 21K race, two Km markers for the 5km race, four Km markers for the 10K race, and one Km marker for the 3Km race. In fact, you may have noticed that these Km markers includes some facts about recycling, Tetra Pak and Tetra Pak cartons.

We know we are far from a perfect race. And we continuously strive hard to be better as we always take note of all your suggestions and comments. We always aim for an excellent race and event. Thank you so much and we look forward to probably donating for milks in the future with your help :)

    HyperSports Team

  34. wala talaga ako nakitang km marker. pero ok lang din. good job hyper for coming out w/ an explanation to what happened. yung ibang organizers hind man lang nagpaparamdam lalo na pag may mga palpak.

  37. Hi, congrats to Tetra Pak! Nice route, volunteers, plenty of hydration. New PR for me. My only concern is the accurate distance for 21K; based on Nike+ Running and Run Keeper apps it exceeds 1.1 kilometers or .6 miles. Thanks.

  38. thank you so much for the organized run.
if not for the finisher’s shirt, i wont run for 21k.
i love the shirt. hope next year it would be a lot better. also, please dont increase the reg fee. God bless to u all.

  39. congratulations Team Hypersports for a very succesful and organized Event! special thanks to those event volunteers who greeted us good morning with smiles on their face.. tnx s mga cheers nyo kc sobrang nkkwla ng pgod! lalo n dun s sexing sexing c sporty spice n ngsbit skin ng medal… tnx sayo!

to Running Buddies n nksma ko tumakbo, congrats satin!!! cu on our nxt run

  40. Sa lahat ng bashers, the run was for a good cause. Freebies are not too much of a big deal. Di naman Runrio event ito so let’s give Hpersports a break. At least we know where the proceeds are going. The medal was nice yun nga lang some weren’t able to receive their medals. The atmosphere was very light and less competitive compared to the more over”hyped” running events. The marshals were very friendly and they gave you the much needed boost, their “good mornings” and “go ma’am/sir” were very effective for that purpose. The Coco Quench had an acquired taste but refreshing nonetheless. Yun nga lang, some had unfortunate “experiences” with the drink.

Well the flyover was pitch dark when we ran the route towards Buendia. The asphalt was uneven and you have to shorten your strides to make sure you won’t twist your ankle!

Bearwin was really funny and I even stayed for the raffle coz I enjoyed his spiels and jokes (at the expense of some Kenyans nga lang).

Overall, not bad Hypersports! I give you a 7/10!

  41. You’re most welcome bro GenRo! Congratulations on your strong finish. Ikaw ang naunang nakatapos among the machong-machong guys of Team Running Buddies na nag pikermi category. At dahil jan, ikaw na ang pinaka-macho of them all. Hehehe :)

    Winner! :)

A Pikermi is a running race of a distance of 13.1 miles, formerly known as a half marathon. The term was coined by a blogger named Pochero in a blog on “The Loop”, which is a runner’s community on the the Runner’s World website. Pochero’s original blog describes the idea best, so be sure to view the blog here: Good luck on that Pikermi!
Basically, the term Pikermi is used because of the route of the original “marathon” in Greece, which was a route from the town of Marathon to Athens approximately 26.2 miles (the distance of a marathon). The town of Pikermi is about the mid-point between Marathon and Athens, therefore being a distance of about 13.1 miles.
The idea behind giving the “half marathon” it’s own name is based on the thought that the accomplishment of running a race of 13.1 miles should not be diminished by describing it as “only half” of something else.

    Happy Running. :)

  43. @Maui Montejo Daton,

I don’t think na may problem sa distance, based sa nike+ watch ko.. 13.06 miles or 21.018 kilometer, which is quite close to the 13.1miles/21.082, I guess konting calibration na lang yung kelangan sakin. saka once you upload the race route, check mo sa google map kung sakto yung distance, kasi di talaga accurate yung nike+ or run keeper app, kahit i-calibrate pa.. kasi pag di nakasagap ng gps signal yung cellphone nag fafall back yan sa assisted gps.

by the way, sa mga nagcoco quench, pag di talaga sanay ang sikmura nyo sa coconut juice may possibility na masira tyan nyo specially pag sobra nainum nyo.. ako every other hydration after the 10k marker inom ako ng inom ng coco quench.. sa kabutihang palad, di naman nasira ang tyan ko at umabot pa ng bahay bago nabawasan ang laman ng tyan, madami lang siguro na-inom ko.

  44. ang daming bashers… I agree with Bero.
ano ba ang purpose ng pagtakbo- to pamper oneself with freebies and VIP treatment? those are incentives not benefits. learn the difference. this run is for a cause. a good one. feedback is good but whining is not. let go and move on. sorry di po ako nangaaway, may pagkamaldita lang. ^_^ peace!

  45. thank you hypersports for this event…though i ran alone without my two running buddies, i enjoyed a lot… thank you to all marshalls, they kept on greeting us(runners) all through out the race… sad to know that there were people who didn’t received their medals… but thumbs up to Hypersports for notifying your runners immediately about the situation… i was lucky i got my medal after the race… and we can’t just blame hypersports for not having enough medal or finisher shirts… coz i saw runners who were still signing up on the day of the event…and these could be one of the reason apart from the reason mentioned above…

    congratulation to all runners…
see you on our next run…

  47. First time I heard of the word Pikermi. Thanks for sharing guys. My brother and I focus on Pikermi and 10Ks. We will try a marathon on TBR next year but want to improve our PR on this two categories first. For the “wrong” distance from their Nike, i agree that the Nike watch is not very accurate. garmin is the best. cheers!

  48. thanks for the new vocabulary “PIKERMI”.

anyway, the RFR was quite organized. thank you organizers!

hindi lang ako sanay sa COCO quench, sumakit ang tyan ko. lahat ng portalet napasok ko. my time? 2:47 for my pikermi, ohaaa!

  49. Thanks for recognizing the word PIKERMI, guys. Yan po ang ina-advocate ko for quite some time now when I got addicted to running.

Sabi nga, ‘because 13.1 (miles or 21.1km) isn’t half of anything!’

If you care to have a Runner’s World US mag nandun po sa August 2012 issue nila yang formerly ‘half-marathon’ special. ;)

    Team Running Buddies
    “NEVER RUN ALONE”

  50. @ olan,

Hi!

    Eto shortcut story ko:

    1) RU3 – 2:35;
    2) RUPM – 2:28; and
    3) Tetra Pak RFR – 2:14

Sumali din ako ng NB Power Run a week before RFR. I finished 2:58, beating my goal time by 2 minutes.

Gusto ko lang ma-build up ang momentum papuntang Milo Finals para confident na umabot sa cut-off time ng pikermi event. =)

  51. RFR was an organized race. Thumbs up to the organizers. It may not have been the best but it gave runners what they needed: a race. :-)

Unlike some of those who commented here, I am not really big on “loot bags”, and I don’t consider it a “must” in any race. A race bib is what I need, plus of course, water stations. There were hardly loot bags when I joined races years ago, those were reserved to podium finishers. To me, registering in a race is about racing, not about what “goodies” you can take home after you cross the finish line…and that’s what probably separates the racers from the recreational runners. Offensive as it may sound, well, reality bites.

    On Pikermi:

I hate to say this, but the term has been used years ago, longer than what this site: https://teampikermi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=54, claims. Also, contrary to what the site says that 13.1 miles isn’t half of anything…it is. Calling a half-marathon something else and treating it as “isn’t a half marathon” is incorrect. It is a half-marathon, no matter how you look at it. Though it is an achievement all by itself, a 13.1 mile race is still half of 26.2 miles.

Just to clarify: there is no such term as a “full” marathon. There is only “marathon” or 42.195kms footrace. Split the distance evenly and you have a half-marathon. So regardless how one calls a 21km race, it is still a “half”.

  53. Recreational runners join Fun Run and i think Tetra Pak RFR is a Fun Run and not a Race. It was organized for an advocacy. Not everybody has the capacity to Race kaya nga may mga taong freebies lang ang habol dahil sa hindi naman nila kayang makipag compete and some of them dont really care about PRs. Just accept the fact that kahit anong gawin nyo eh may mga sasali talaga for the freebies and medals, etc. A runner is a runner kahit ano man yung dahilan nya para tumakbo. Accept that fact and we will have a very Friendly and Harmonious Runs everytime.

And based on my experience, mas madami pa ang mga Recreational Runners kesa sa mga sinasabi mong Racers mapa Race man yan or Fun Run. Remove them in a Run at siguradong tataas ng sobrang ang mga RACE na sasalihan nyo.

If you are a Racer, join a Race. Leave the Fun Runs to the Recreational Runners if you cant stand hearing people always demanding for freebies. :)

    Happy Running everyone :D

  54. @Olan di ko alam yung subpiolo mark ah, thanks for the info, and hopefully magiging tuluy-tuloy na ang pag improve ko on my own PR bale ang target ko kasi sa Sunday for the Final Leg ng Discovery Trail Run is maka sub 1 hour ako, ibang iba kasi yung momentum ng Trail Run kaysa flat road run…..

  57. @ olan,

YES! Ako nga yung guy you just described!

In hindsight, I could have achieved a better time had I brought my bottles. (1st time ko nalimutan.)

I knew I was in good shape (kahit papaano) kasi may mga nao-overtake-an akong strong mid-pack runners from the middle of the run to the finish line. Medyo nakapag-sprint pa sa last 100 meters.

Sana next time say hi to sportyspice at sa akin and to the rest of the Team Running Buddies ha.

  59. @ sportyspice,

Oo nga eh. How does he know… (kasi kilala na niya si sportyspice, kaya somehow he knew na ako yun by my previous description.) ;)

You know what, medyo nalungkot lang ako kasi hindi ganun kadami ang participants. Ang ganda kasi ng advocacy nila di ba – Recycle for the ENVIRONMENT, Feed the CHILDREN, then Run for GOOD HEALTH. That’s hitting 3 birds with 1 stone!

Nauna na kasi ang NB Power Run, so in terms or popularity…

  61. @Running Buddies_angel.d.saint

Yup, Marathon and Pikermi are both places, that’s a given.

However, No FULL Marathon, but you can always halve the distance and have a half-marathon…;-)

  62. @ IronmanAGer,

So I hope you can understand why Team Pikermi refuses to treat it as only half of the effort. It was already explained why they want to use that term. They want to imbibe positive thoughts and FULL ACHIEVEMENT on that given distance. It’s not exactly technical, but more like spiritual. ;)

  63. @angel.d.saint: approach sana kita habang tumatakbo tayo pero mabilis pace mo sa akin at ako nag gallowalk after 14k.

@sportyspice: promis mo yan ha…walang rason rason na kailangan umuwi agad tawag ng responsibilidad bilang ina at sundo hahaha..sarap mong biruin talaga
since mbc pa (manila bay clean up) with hunter.

    @jerry: LOL
