  1. I was expecting a flawless organized run by Rio, but it’s unbelievable that water would run out in the hydration stations where the 21K and the 42K converged. I passed by the Roxas Blvd stretch between EDSA and Luneta during 7:00 or 7:30 AM, all hydration stations have run out of water since the 21K runners seems to have used up all supplies. This is a major mistake in Rio’s logistics.

    Fortunately, I had my own hydration, but I would say half of the 42K runners were in for a 10KM stretch without water :-(

    Otherwise the run was well organized in other aspects.

  2. So disappointed with the FOTOLOCO Photobooth. I needed to wait for more than an hour just to get my printed picture.

  3. Yey! The race was fun pero medyo magulo un post-race activities (lalo na un claiming ng loyalty shirt) hahaha.. daig pa ata un pila dun sa adidas :P More than 2 hours ako nag-antay para lang makuha un shirt at natuwa lang ako sa mga nagagalit na tao :)) Yan tuloy, di ako nakapaglibot ng maayos dun sa village. Overall, I enjoyed it. New PR! :)

  4. That was the best route I ever ran and the biggest medal I ever got in my entire life. The post race massage was fantastic at sana palaging may ganitong privilege sa mga runners. Finished with a time of 5:47….sayang kala ko talaga magPR ako kasi nagsub4 ako sa 32k. Now for the negatives. I witnessed the shortage of water in a lot of stations. This is why I keep saying a hydration backpack or belt is necessary sa 42k because this is a serious run and the last thing that you would want is to not have available hydration. You denied me that small piece of entertainment kaya nakakapagtampo.

  5. I like the route for the 21km , unlike before na paiikutin ka muna sa bgc bago ka makarating sa kalayaan fly over pagod ka na, buti iba ngayon, some hydration station walang tubig , claiming of loyalty SUCKS! I dont get the reason na kelangan mo pa iverify pangalan mo kung may list na sila at naka group na according to your surname, dapat diretso na pag bigay kung saan nakalista pangalan mo, i didnt get the shirt anymore dahil wala akong confirmation sa email na kasali pangalan ko. But all in all OK!

  6. it was a great run !! with thousands of people joining it’s impossible not to have
    flaws. that’s a given already. i got my loyalty shirt in one minute. hydration ok na ok
    i can’t think of anything to complain.

  7. it was good however, not good enough.. my greatest concern and sobra sa hassle, the baggage counters closed early so when I tried picking up my bag, it was transferred to a place where no people can even point us out where to claim it.. nakakalungkot, pagod ka na tumakbo, pagod k pa kakahanap ng bag mu..:(

  8. Here are my comments:

    – On-time ang gun time.

    – The route was fine.

    – Yung hydration medyo kinulang along Roxas Boulevard. I was searching for water kasi ayoko talaga ng Powerade. Masyadong nakakauhaw yung tamis nya.

    – Bananas were overflowing. Being near the end of the pack sa 21k eh i wasnt expecting na may aabutan pa ako but to my surprise eh madami pa pala. :)

    – Tip ko lang sa mga runners, if you are fond of using sponges during runs, kumuha na kayo habang maaga pa kahit walang iced water yung hydration station. You can always use the drinking water para dun sa sponge to cool down yourselves.

    – HIndi ko alam kung bakit pero parang mas nahirapan ako sa 21k this RUPM kesa sa RU2 and RU3, maybe because of the weather. Masyadong mainit and dry yung hangin. Overall, nice pa rin naman ang weather.

    – NAPAKAHABA NG PILA sa PHOTOBOOTH. Hahaha :D

    – NAPAKAHABA DIN NG PILA sa pag-claim ng Loyalty Shirt considering that i was previously processed and all they have to do is give the shirt. I wasnt able to get one kasi di ako nakapunta ng RU1 but i feel the disappointed of my fellow runners kasi ang laki ng nasasayang na oras na pwede na nilang gamitin sa paglibot sa Active Health VIllage.

    – Nakakaasar yung NEVER ENDING issue ng Finisher’s Shirt. Bakit ba palaging LARGE ang gusto nilang ipagawa given the fact that Filipinos are typically Small and Medium-sized. Haaayyyysss Run United. You guys have the statistics nung nagregister kami and you didnt use that. You should fire the guys responsible for the Finishers Shirt. Simply unacceptable lalo na kung paulit ulit.

    – Badtrip yung mga taga Devant and Conzace. I was near the completion of my Passport para dun sa Umbrella (sorry naman. You have to buy Conzace para magbutasan nila yung Passport mo and yung pila sa Watsons Booth is sobrang bagal and mahaba din. Hehehe :D

    – Yung isang banda parang ngongo kumanta. Hahaha :D

    – Overall, maganda naman yung event considering the fact that they are staging their First Ever Philippine Marathon and mahirap nga naman yun lalo na pag first time. Maybe they will organize it better next year. Kudos to Unilab and Runrio for their FIRST Run United Philippine Marathon. :)

    *please respect my comment. these are just my opinions and was never really meant to hurt anyone. thanks :)

  12. still a great race overall. hirap lang sa post race activities lalo for long distance runners kase dami na tao from 10km distance and below..

    lupet ng rules sa Powerade station activities parang ayaw mamigay ng freebie! was asked to do situps in 2 mins, managed about 60reps i think, pero have to beat daw last highest w/c was 120, which were only 1/4 of a situp! swerte ng mga nauna nag try kase some got prizes for doing below 50reps.. tahen sa football 800pts in 2mins din.. wawa mga bata na nag try..

    great job on the ice pool area and PT from UST! used the ice pool area to relieve pain in the hamstrings and knee! also for the medic team directly after the finish line arch coz I was running with a cramped left quad for the last 2km!

    my dad finished his first 21km and my daughter joined his 1st race at 500m at RUPM so it will really be a memorable race for our family!

    wala ako loyalty shirt (only RU2 and RUPM) kaya no comment on that, but my bro has!

On the overall, maayos naman lahat, yung iniexpect kong fanfare di lang nameet.

  15. It was a great ran overall… I experienced cramps @ km25, so i need to slow down my pace… at km38, un na bumigay na talaga… I was lucky enough that a runner from 21K category offered help to cure my cramps.. Thank you very much Arvin from the bottom of my heart (bib #4029)… You really such a nice guy. You are a testament of a true runner…

    and despite of that cramps I was able to surpassed my previous FM record… thanks also to Mark_runner-PH for the great running tips you’ve provided in this blog…

    God bless all… and hope to see again in the future run!

  16. Para saakin the best experience parin ito, best first ever! I consider the lack of water to be a challenge pero saakin, it’s part of the game. Naawa lang ako sa iba that weren’t prepared na maubusan ng supplies coz it affected their run greatly.

    First 17k ko with in the route, mas marami hydratin salt kaysa water nainum ko haha. Astig talaga 42k!

  17. Sad to hear that there were some issues regarding the hydration for the long distance runs but for 5K and 10K, there was an improvement as compared to RU3. I also wish there were more photo booths as we LOVE pictures especially when free… hehe! Overall, I enjoyed my first 10K. Congrats to Unilab and Runrio for the first RU Philippine Marathon. Looking forward for RUs next year… ;)

  18. was a good run, but a little pissed-offf on alaxan and conzace booths. other sponsors do not require any purchase. when i run i leave cash in the car. with the many booths you have to visit to get the card stamped, dagdag pa ang pila to buy kahit 1 piece of the tablets daw. i cant believe they wanted to get back the money they spent to sponsor the event by selling. but i didnt let it ruin my day. still had fun. although missed my PB by 2 mins, bawi sa susunod!

  19. Amazing, ang laki ang medal-“Plato”, kulang nalang tinidor at. kutchara.Saw Spongebob and Mars Callo. Medyo kulang ang photobooth unlike adidas, A lot of hydration station,naubusan nang hydration but saw some motorbikers getting some hydration at dinadala sa lugar na naubusan. Well anyway I came prepared I always bring Hydration. I beat my P.R. Thanks Run United. Will join again next year.

  20. I enjoyed the whole run.

    next year ulit.

  21. Dami last names starting from A-E, halos nandun lahat ng runners. Didn’t they sort the names man lang para equally divided sa mga claiming booths ng loyatly shirt? Or better yet, they should have separated 21K from 42K runners, one hour ang gap ng gun start, naturally mas una matatapos 21K runners and mas madami nag-participate sa 21K.

  22. @everest at mga first timers

Dahil sa inyo magkaroon ako ng drive, not only to run, but to do my best.

    As for the race, ang problema lang eh yung sobrang traffic. Words of the day: makikiraan po

  23. first time kong mag 21k – 2hrs and 44.something – yeheey

  24. @Jammer:
    Ako XL palit tayo hehehe!
    @Pinoy
    Grabe may nasagasaan pala…..tsk tsk tsk maraming nga impatient motorists kanina
    @aA
    malamang nga hehehehe….as hard as it is, I really enjoyed the route. It was like the summary of all the race routes I ran this year….lalo na yung sa C5…gusto ko yon

    I failed to mention yung sa ice pool…Ang galing ng nakaisip nun….brilliant!

  25. first time namin tumakbo ng 21k ng kapatid ko, kasi target namin makakuha ng finisher’s shirt and medal… disappointed lang kami na wala na medium and small size na available…. puro large na lang daw natira!!!! considering ang dami pa natakbo na girls….hindi din namin masusuot ang shirt…. too bad!!!

  26. Naubusan talaga yung last 3 stations along Roxas Blvd. I ran 21k so I was able to manage a 10km stretch without water pero kawawa mga 42K runners na nasa 30-35 km mark nila. Walang laman mga tables and have to buy from street vendors for water.

    Also one guy bought some bottles of water along makati and passed it along the runners. Thanks a lot.

    And I don’t mind the long queue at the loyalty shirt, finisher’s kit, photo booth,lac of fanfare etc pero maubusan ng water ang runners is unacceptable. It could cause someone’s life due to lack of hydration and it’s 101 in marathon to keep the runners hydrated. I think di nila na-anticipate na uubusin ng 21K runners yung supplies while parating palang ang bulk ng 42K runners.

    Learn from this experience Runrio team.

  27. Disaster ang gun start. bkit hindi ginawa yung last ru2.may wave 1 & 2. anong nangyri sa pagorganize ng RUPM. hydration station alone BGC nid pang magantay ng mga runner para magrefill ng water at powerade. hindi ba nila eto na kita sa previous RU event. loyalty shirt very disappointing ang distribution. most of the runners hindi na lng kinuha. pipila ka pa ng mahaba para lang ma-very kung ksama ka tpos paghindi magfill-up ng form at txt or email ka na lng daw nila para ma-claim mo yung loyalty shirt mo. sana yung lhat ng comment dito mabasa ng runrio org para next yr ma-correct na. Runrio org eto grade ko sa inyo 7/10.

  28. First time kong tumakbo sa RU. Ganun pala magpatakbo si coach Rio. Wala akong na experience na negative kasi wala namang comparison. First time kong nakasakay sa shuttle at nadaanan yung BGC- MOA route kaya bago sa akin. Madaming saging at hydration.

Nakakainis kaya. Yung sa tent city, buti at napagod na ako at di na ako nag attempt. Pahirapan palang makakuha ng payong…

  31. OK naman ang experience ko sa 1st RUPM. Wala naman masyado hassle…

    – Sa takbo ko sa pikermi event, overflowing pa yung hydration at bananas (I finished 2:30 unofficially [broke previous by 5min]);

    – Nakuha ko kaagad ang finisher kit, ditto my wife’s and my sister’s;

    – Ang medyo hassle lang siguro ay yung pahirapan sa pagkuha ng freebies. Which I understand for some reason, pero as per comments from others ayaw nila ng sort of interactivity to claim the prize/freebie. Some like it; some don’t – yun lang yun. Kami hindi matiyaga sa ganyan. We’re fine kahit walnag freebies. ;) Yung ibang sponsors bigay na lang ng bigay – Hydrite hydration bottle – just to get it over with. Bandang huli yung umbrella madali na kunin kasi napakatagal nga naman ma-claim nung umpisa;

    – Napansin ko lang na OFF ng about two (2) minutes ang time start at time finish ko as per my timer versus Runrio’s. As I was approaching the fin line, 2:27 pa sa timer ko; 2:29 na kay Rio. Sana ma-verify at i-rectify ni Runrio if ever;

    – Also, mukhang iba yung supplier/mananahi ni Runrio/Unilab yata ngayon. Their size XL is different from that of RU3’s. Mas malaki ang size ngayon kesa dati (which was the BETTER fit). Tapos bitin ang length niya due to the fact na hindi tapering yung bottom ng finisher shirt. At least ganun yun nakuha ko. Mukhang hindi sinunod ng supplier yung original design ni Runrio.

    Oh, well. I hope they care enough to listen to us… ;)

  33. may foreigner na nagwawala pa kanina along the 21K route, I think sa Chino Roces, un kasi pina-stop ung cars nila coz of the runners na natawid haha, then sabay sabay BOOO!,

    And I do hope safe na ung nasagasaan kanina na runner.
    Anyway, lots of runners pa din don’t know how to throw their cups on proper dispensers. :|
    Nevertheless, I enjoyed my first 21K run ^_^

  34. First time 42k here. Nahirapan ako but good experience overall. Had to pee 3x. napadami ata inom ko water. Also, masyado mabilis first half ko. I beat my 21k PR by around 15 mins. Kaya napagod agad ako, dapat slower start siguro. Had to walk-run the other half. Ok yung banana matamis at di lamog. Naubusan water, buti d ko inubos yung nasa hydration pack ko. Ok din dami medic. Will prepare better for next year.

  36. My best run for 21k at a time of 2:03:59 .. tanong lang meron bang loss/found sa event kasi naiwan ko ung shorts ko at belt ko sa cubicle.. sadly ang ganda sana ng takbo ko kaso dama nakalimutan ko pa ung shorts ko’t pantalon.. sana meron.

  37. The whole 42K run was ok. Luckily I did not encounter any problem as experienced by other runners. During the run, I had sufficient water (considering I do not have my own hydration). After the run, claiming of finisher shirt and loyalty shirt is quite fast and no queue (in fact I was able to fit the exact size I need). Normally, I do not line-up for the freebies, hence no issue for me.

    @29 Melvin Robel. Thanks for the pic.

    It was a great and of course, always a tiring experience. It’s time to relax and enjoy few bottles of beer. Cheers!!! :-)

  39. It was my 1st 21k and i enjoy it. Although i had left knee injury at midway along cuneta astrodome. I believed i could hv it done in 2hrs time but i sustain injury. I treated dis as preparation 4 d incoming RFR run and milo marathon dis dec9. I will say also 2 some undicipline runners n kumukuha ng powerade bottles khit n nagmamakaawa n yung babae s booth n marami pang iinom especially s 42k runners. S rehydration naman, good job on them. 4 me, it was still a great event. More power 2d organizers.

Great Run….

    @angel d saint …. nice meeting you and your wifey…………..

  41. @Mark – runner_ph

    Congrats on finishing another marathon! Good for you! =)

    As for me okay naman yung run but I really felt the burn of taking it slow for a month after the 32k (kasi parati ako nahihilo) I gained weight as well pero despite the odds tinapos ko talaga, and I did it running, Kahit mas marami walk sa run basta tumakbo ka lang ng tumakbo hangang nakakabit pa paa mo! (hehe kasi akala ko malulumpo na ako)

    Amazing ang 42k, very humbling experience walang sinabi sa first 21k ko nuon. The pain, the agony, the mental battle of it all! Everything was spectacular!

    P.S. In fairness yung last minute heat training ko paid off, I survived the heat, no stop, no rest, no sit down!

    SALUDO AKO SA LAHAT NG TUMAKBO TODAY!!! CONGRATS EVERYONE!!!!

  42. sa 42k finish line.

    coach Rio habang sinasabitan ako medal: “Congrats, bro. Lakad lang tayo banda dun, nandon ang mga pagkain. Eto ang plato gagamitin nyo (referring to the medal).” ayuz :)

    target ko maka dalawang 42k for 2012 and na-accomplished ko na yun by joining 42k Condura 2012 and 42k Milo Elims 2012. 3 of us go for 42k. Nabigla pero tinapos pa rin namin. Strategy lang talaga. So may bonus 42k pa ako for 2012 dahil sa RUPM. ayuz :)

  43. @ swimmer,

    Nice meeting you too! Sayang di na tayo nagkita after the race. There’s always next time! =)

    I think kaya di mo na-break ang PR kasi it has something to do with the sea of runners you had to wade through right at the start. Ang dami natin eh! About a minute lang naman ang difference – still a great job! =)

  44. whenever i register sa riovana in bgc, i always opt for a large singlet kapag runrio events, it fits me better.

    however, bakit parang off yung sizing ng finisher shirt? this was my first 21k run, my first finisher shirt. ganun din ba sa run united 1 – 3?

    awaiting official results. recover well guys. good job, indeed!

  46. My Run United Story. RU1 was my first run, was planning to join the 10k distance back then yet the 100php difference for 21k run, we’re like ‘sige game x_x!’. First run clocked 2:34 after that mga 1 week kaming baldado and yes we deserve it that time due to lack of mileage training. It’s quite true that during the race/run there’s that feeling of quitting yet after the race, kelan RU2? Then RU2 finally comes through. During that time i manage to be a pacer for my friends whom are just starting to run there first 21km we did a 8-1 interval (mins of course) we manage to reach the finish line after 3:30+ hrs. Later much then, RU3 draws near thorn whether to register a 21k or a 32k one, then i read something regarding the awards night, the next thing we knew we’re at riovana registering for 32k good job! hahaha. During the afroman distance we just went steady around 7-8/km, not to mention the catastrophic rain that time though it was good in some way around, at 21km my watch clocked around 2:30ish (quite strong still this was around baclaran if im not mistaken) but then those 2 tragic flyover sap all our moral even though we’re just brisk walkin it, finish quite well and got some more strength to stroll clocked 3:58. The next thing, is to marathon or not to marathon, when i did running for the first time i can’t find a reason to run a marathon which is important when doing so, which is quite serious and not a fun run indeed, later then i realized and set a new goal that i will never run a marathon until i didn’t break a 2hour half mary, registered 21km for the last leg. Been preparing for this race did a weekly training starting from easy monday, hilly + speed thusrday and LSD Saturday. Final week of the race all i did was relax and drink and drink a lot of water. The great thing comes next, i was at bgc sunday morning race day! My mantra that time is ‘Leave the pack and every other water station’. Story comes in between. the next is final turn comes in, finally i was able to saw the arc. As i cross the finishline the matrix was displaying 2:05!

    Thanks!

  47. Thanks to the lady (American yata) with her daughter who were giving some candies and chips somewhere dun sa last 2KM mark to the finish line. A generous act indeed the feeling was very refereshing!

  48. I finished my 1st 42Km.
    it was a big help indeed lalo na at nagkaubusan ng tubig.

    lessons learned:
    1. it pays to have a proper training para mas ma enjoy ung race
    2. wag lubos n umasa sa organizer for hydration, bring ur own hydration just in case magkaubusan. – i left my hydration belt knowing its runrio’s event

  49. Sana kasi nagbabasa kayo ng announcement ng runrio… matagal nang nilabas ung pre-qualified list ng mabibigyan ng loyalty shirt. kelangan nyo lang mag email ng RUPM bib para ma confirm kayo at wala ng verification. wala pang 5minutes pagbasa ng announcement at pag send ng email… walang ka-hassle hassle sa loyalty shirt… tska bilisan nyo rin tumakbo para una lagi sa village…ang korny ng medal. last unilab event ko na to… thanks for the experience… mas masaya sumali sa mga events na once a year lang like rexona, timex, etc…hahaha.

  51. memorable 1st marathon.

    it was well organized up to the limit reach of the organizers. about 3 consecutive water stations along Buendia ran out of water supply, I guess the number of liters/runner was not given an allowance but they did act fast and delivered some more though by the time they came we already passed the station.

    you can see Rio himself, going to all places with water trying to restock the remaining stations still being passed by runners.

    we can also observe that the suggestions we have to improve their run are being considered and put into action.

    more power to Runrio. MORE POWER TO ALL RUNNERS!!!

  52. ran the 21km route… somehow a few marshalls did a good job in controlling the bikers along Roxas Blvd to avoid sneaking some drinks at the hydration stations… Roxas Blvd has a history of freeloader bikers and joggers trying to ask for drinks… i even saw a group of vagrants trying to get bottles of newly delivered mineral water… i got a bit distracted and worried not just for the 21km runners but also for the full marathon runners… 42kms is no joke when there’s no water to drink… all participants paid for this race whether they finish first or last!! the job of the race organiser does not end until the LAST runner crosses the finish line…

    the RunUnited series is a good concept if you want to build up miles for your first marathon… although I am not sure if this race is a good preview for my first full marathon next year… Runrio will need to sell it well…

  53. This is my first 21k and only did it because na motivate ako sa malaplatong medal. mahirap nga maubusan ng tubig buti na lang isang station ako naubusan. siguro masyado madaming 21k runners since ito yung unang naubusan ng slots. napansin ko din ang nagkaubusan ay yung menthol liniment. I was battling cramps for the last 5k and 3 ambulance ang nadaanan ko and wala na daw silang stock. It’s a good run. sa uulitin.

  54. sana next time take into consideration ang category ng kids. Ung laman ng loot bag sana man lang kahit piece of cracker, chocolate and choco drinks anyway its for Kid’s fun!. D naman nila magagamit ang alaxan! Ung ibang bata na nasa top 5 pinaghintay sa winners verification booth ng sobrang tagal only to find out wala naman palang hinihintay kc top 3 lang ang bibigyan ng prize. Very disappointed ang bata kc pagod na gutom na ni candy or kahit a word na mag thank you sa paghihintay wala man lang kami narinig sa Runrio staff. Yoko sana mag compare pero buti pa ang INSURUNCE super dami ng pagkain para sa mga kids and lots of freebies like school supplies, toys at may teddy bear pa! Hindi man sila kasing laki ng ibang Organizer, gaya ng RUNRIO now you teach me how to really choose a better race for my Kids next time around!!!! its our first time to join RU 500m event and its the least we could expect from RUNRIO …….the fact that me and my hushand have ran a lot of their organized running events! SAYANG!

  55. Thanks nga pala sa KM markers. Kasi sa RU3 seriously lacking. Nakakatulong talaga. Required sa energy gel intake ko. (I do not have to look at the watch, and I don’t wear a watch at all). =)

  57. It was a very good race route for 21K. I noticed a lot of complaints on the post race with regards to booth mechanics and line management. Runrio should address it. May science sa line management – i worked in a fastfood. You can put cordons like in the airport to manage the lines. You can increase the counters. You can give away samples to the people in line para malibang. Maraming magagawa. As for the giveaway process, it just needs to be detailed out para hindi mahirap to win or get a freebie. In and out dapat ang tao since you are talking of thousands. Post event booths seem to be here to stay in our races. Pinoys like the festive atmosphere so its worth Runrio’s time to make it as really great experience. More power runrio! we were there at dagupan milo. .

  58. @RCM comment 26
    yung 3am ok na naman yun sir… kung mas maaga pa eh di midnight run na yon… mag condura na lang kung ganoon din pala ang habol.

    @Paul 37
    “kasama sa challenge yan, sa ultra nga halos wala talaga hydration.”

    IMO, actually hindi naman issue yung meron hydration o wala… ang problema kasi, advertised na meron hydration every X kilometers, tapos pagdating sa race wala.

    Rio did a logistical mistake yesterday, pero knowing him, he acts on every shortcoming. Hindi ako pro-rio, ganoon lang talaga sya tuwing nagkakamali, kaya kita talaga na nag-iimprove ang mga events nya.

    @48 angel
    congrats sa PR! at least naka PR kahit sobra ang traffic…

    @intrepid comment 51
    sa experience ko lang sir, yung 21k split sa 42k, dapat mas mabagal (or pareho) sa 21km PR. Kasi kung mas mabilis sya, talagang babawiin yan sa 2nd half ng FM. Start slow, end stronger…

    Nung july sa milo, yung half ko mas mabilis sa typical na 21k ko, ayun binalikan ako ng matinding problema sa 30+ km na… Ngayon, ang ginawa ko sakto lang yung half sa usual na 21km time ko, sa dulo, mas mabagal lang ako ng 1 minute, pero mas maganda ang performance ko sa end game.

    Saka kung nagwiwi ka, sobra iniinom nyo sir… ganyan talaga kung may dalang hydration.

    @tere 61
    “Amazing ang 42k, very humbling experience walang sinabi sa first 21k ko nuon. The pain, the agony, the mental battle of it all! Everything was spectacular!”

    IMO, ma experience mo lang yan sa 42k (or onwards)… Lahat ng pinaghirapan, nasusulit pagtawid ng finish line. Knowing, that whatever limitations we may have, physical or otherwise, is nothing if we prepare hard enough and put all our heart into it.

    Congrats ulit… at siguradong marami pang 42k ang sasalihan nyan… malay natin next year, milo na ang target!

    @saldy 70
    kita ko sila sa may pala pala sa macapagal… ayos na ayos sobrang encouragement nila… Halatang gusto talaga nilang mag support ng runners!

    Wala lang… dami lang talagang killjoy.. papasok ako ng chute, yung mga powerpuff sumisigaw laban yan! Sigaw ako, sana umabot ng 3:45 !! Sagot nila, 30 seconds lang yan finish line na yan GO! GO! GO!

    tapos meron isang spectator, ewan ko pero baka inggit lang o sadyang killjoy lang, sumigaw Wala na yan 3:44 na eh…

    within 30 seconds, I crossed the finish line, 3:44:4x ata yon. Ang mga non-runners hindi marunong mag estimate at nasa 5min/km yung pace ko.

    Buti pa yung ibang mga 21k na nasa kabilang lane, sobra mag support… at puno ng encouragement.

    Meron pang isa, nung kasabay ko yung isang black na female runner… along Roxas, galing naia rd papuntang luneta. Nagpaalam pa muna bago naki-pace. Tapos may sumigaw na pinoy… “wala ka na talo ka na!”

    heheh natawa lang ako… kung 21k sya sobrang lame naman at ang lakas pa nag loob nangutya .. at kung 42k pa sya eh ang layo pa ng tatakbuhin nya! Actually 2nd yung kasabay ko na runner sa foreign category, at nung naabutan na namin yung 1st, humiwalay na sya (btw relax sila dahil hawak na yung 1st at 2nd)

    may mga tao talagang sadyang t*nga! :-)

    Kada race, natatawa lang talaga ako, lumalabas yung camaraderie ng mga runners, pero lumalabas din yung pagka talangka ng pilipino. BTW, dito lang sa ‘pinas ako naka-experience ng mga talangka.

    May nakapansin ba nung full moon kagabi ? Nakakatakot full moon tapos deep orange yung kulay… tapos sabay natapat na sa may sementeryo pa!

  59. salamat at natapos ko rin ang second time ko sa 21k.kahit 4 times ako pinulikat pinilit ko pa din matapos.at na break ko ang time ko sa first 21k.

  60. Maganda nga kung iisipin na si Rio mismo ang nagdadala to re-stock yung hydration but me negative impact parin dahil di nya na dapat gawin yun just to ensure na na empower nya yung mga tao nya. Logistics side of planning lang. Next time Rio need to plan this kind of problem. Should be a lesson again to Rio. Empower your personnel to do those logistics.. Next year sana maayos na. Kudos to all the runners and congrats…

  61. I’ve learned that finishing a marathon isn’t just an athletic achievements. it’s a state of mind; a state of mind that says anything is possible. anyway after i crossed the finish line hndi ko alam kung ano gagawin sa sobrang pagod ng katawan at mga heel ko na nabugbog cause i wear the wrong running shoes…hndi n rin kmi nag enjoy sa mga freebies sa tent at hndi n rin kami nagpapicture mas gusto p namin mag relax at magpahinga…

  62. It was awesome!

  63. qoq! i cannot believe a suppose to be well organized race gone berzerk! i beg to disagree that chaos is a given in a race event. otherwise what are we paying for? finisher items for FB bragging rights? forgive but never forget! :-(

  64. First timer of 42k here…

  65. @Mark-runner_ph,
    Thank you and Congrats din po!

  66. @Mark-runner_ph
    congrats! and thank you sa mga tips mo. i wasnt able to reach my target time due to left knee injury at the 36km marker. pero over-all natapos ko din at 4:30… tama ka full moon nga kahapon and ang ganda ng kulay nya…

  68. @jho 91
    congrats pare! Ayos 50+ seconds ang naimprove mo sa pace! Malaking improvement yan. Kung mag condura ka ulit… hindi ka na sisikatan ng araw! :-)

    sana mareplicate ko rin yang 30 minutes na nagawa mo sa milo 2013 … matinding ensayohan to pre..

    basta ang importante, isipin natin na kaya natin mag improve… kung hindi natin i-try, sa kangkungan tayo pupulutin!

    @r@m©€$ 93
    get well soon pare… nagulat lang ako sa buwan kahapon… nung napansin ko kaliwa’t kanan ko sementeryo eh…

    Malaking bagay pagkatapos ng full eh ang recovery. Mas mabilis magrecover tayo, mas maaga makapagsimulang magensayo para sa susunod na full !

  69. everything was organized. maliban lang sa nagkaubusan ng hydration sa may buendia until roxas and yun pangit na systema sa pag-claim ng loyalty shirt in which nagmail naman ako 2weeks before the run. but so far, i enjoyed the 42k run.

  70. i enjoy the route hindi ko nga lang akalain na sobrang hirap pla ang 42k,hassel lang nung nagkaubusan ng tubig and medyo dehydrated na ako kailangan pang bumili pra masiguradong malalagpasan ko yung nararamdaman ko,but thank God i survive and conquered with PR of 5hrs and 18mins..hindi na masama for my first 42k…basta runrio tatakbo pa rin ako..

  71. anyway we still enjoy the race kahit na medyo nagkaproblem sa supply ng hydration for 42k runners, pag runrio naman pag may problem ay nagagawan ng paraan at nasosolusyonan compare sa january event run nun na “kahit isang araw lang” na event ba un? na talagang d nasuplayan ng tubig ang mga runners at miski official race result ay d ata na e-release buti na lang at sa Timex ako that time sumali, at sa nagsasabi na panatiko ni rio un mga sumasali sa event niya fine with it, its our choice to join sa races na gus2 namin salihan basta swak sa aming budget…

  72. Pakiusap sa mga runners, and I have to shout here: DON’T THROW YOUR BANANA PEELS ON THE ROAD!!! Please lang, paano kung may madulas habang tumakbo because of your rudeness and carelessness??? I was shocked to see so many banana peels on various parts of the route. My golly!!!

  73. @Mark – runner_ph

    Milo is one of my dream runs, pero as scheduled after my first marathon I’ll focus on speed to improve my time. Hopefully an improved time will allow me more access to other runs.

    Meron kasi ako phase 2 mission impossible (tapos na phase 1 sa marathon last sunday) sana this time around, I’ll keep to my program.

    Hopefully next time I’ll see you on the road, yung medyo (kahit papano…) mahabol kita! haha
