LUUM or La Union Unity Marathon is the banner event of iRunners. LUUM – II SuperMarathon is the follow-up of the much successful 1st Annual La Union Unity Marathon or LUUM – 1 which was held last February 25, 2012. LUUM is derived from the Ilocano lingo which means ‘ripe’ – the perfect term to coin the advocacy of iRunners which is to promote the Tourism of La Union. This is our way of telling to the rest of the world that La Union is ‘Ripe for Tourism’. Thru the yearly conduct of LUUM, iRunners believe that the world discover its pristine yet unexplored grandeur and beauty.

The first LUUM was a huge success: it was the first and biggest running event in the province that was organized by iRunners and participated by thousands of locals as well as visitor runners; it was also the only all-Filipino running event where foreign runners are invited only for special participation (they are not allowed to compete for prize money); it was participated and supported by the various sectors of the society: various Government Organizations, NGOs, Private Institutions, Academe, Student Organizations, Youth Organizations, Athlete groups, even ordinary citizens of La Union. Even the Philippine Military Academy supported the event and sent almost a hundred contingents (Cadets and Staff of the Academy) in support of the cause of the event.

Now, on its second edition, iRunners due to the high billing of its maiden event is tasked to give you the best running event that will surely brings out the ‘Super Runner’ in you!

In LUUM – 1 they gave you the best route here in La Union , now in its 2nd edition the organizers will give you the best of the best! The route will mesmerize you; the route is specially chosen to bring out the sturdy and ‘super runner’ in you, and most of all participants will become part again of another history of running in the Country because it is the first time that an Ultra Marathon and Regular Marathon will be featured in one single running event, thus the rational for term SuperMarathon ! So mark the date, March 02, 2013 join this once in a lifetime event, experience a super running experience and be the super runner that you can be !

– inclusive of Singlet, Barcode (for timing), Runners Bib, Finisher medal for the first 25 registrants (who will finish the race) for each of the two categories.

    Job well done bro, i want to extend my gratitude for handling the organization of the group, sir sana di mo tatanggihan kung may iaabot ako sayo na ‘bayong ng pasasalamat’ sa darating na Marso 16, 2013?
    Anyway here is your request:
    Discounted rate for the group or members of the group who will join the 50K and 42K is twenty percent (20%), so for the shuttle, its P800 instead of 1000;
    the discount rate of 20% for the registrants of 50K and 42K is P720 instead of 900.
    Again i would like to remind you guys that this is only applicable to group or group members who will join the higher two (42K and 50K) categories. Thus the total fee for the registrants of 42K and 50K is 1520 plus the paypal fee. Should you wish to save from paying the paypal fee, you can register thru facebook registration, to do this, just visit the iRunner fanpage look for the ‘red medal’ and individually sign the e-registration form. To show proof that you are registering as a group all you have to do is to send me a Excel file where all the names of the member plus the category they intend to run are written, plus the BDO deposit slip, send it to my mailbox ([email protected]) for confirmation of your group participation.

    pano po pala king magre-register as group, i believe there’s a from that should be individually filled out by the registrants for personal information, category, singlet size, etc.,so kailangan talaga i-fill out yun by each group member? pano po yung payment kailangan din ba by group or pwede individually deposited rin sa BDO account nyo thanks

    Sir, the discount both for the shuttle and registration only applies to the 42K and 50K runners. As much as we would like to give discount to everyone but we have to save resources so that we can strategically utilize them for the needs of the runners come event day. This event entails lots of resources both money, people, and logistics.

    @ for bino, Sir, we will not prescribe a curfew or limit, but we will leave everything to our Medical teams to decide whether a runner is fit or not to finish the race.

    *** TO ALL WOULD BE PARTICIPANT OF LUUM-2 SUPERMARATHON we would like to inform you that we might impose a limited slot for the 3 high categories (50K/42K/21K) to ensure the manageability and the success the event.     @ Arwin C, we are deeply studying the possiblity of accepting only 200 participants for 50K, or atmost 300. Regarding your query, kung pwede magsama ng non-runner or non-participant sa shuttle, YES pwede po pero she or he has to pay the whole 1000 back and forth shuttle service.

    @ ramoes, tama kayo sir, what we are after now is the quality of the race and not the quantity kaya we will surely impose limited slot for the three higher categories.

    @ running buddies_jerry, 1/4 palang po ng kabuuan ng magagandang ruta ang nakita nyo, i promise you guys that this event will not only offer jaw-dropping route/scenery but most of all maging organisado po at safe ang lahat ng participants. sabi ko nga, you guys will conquer La Union but La Union or LUUM will surely captivate you!

Fellow runners, friends, this is just to inform everyone especially those runners who will have their maiden run or ‘first run’ at the 50K (ultra) and 42K (‘full mary’)- you guys will be receiving a special race certificate with your name written on the certificate and a Lei to honor you of your great achievement or feat in accomplishing or conquering the ‘super routes’ of LUUM – 2.

    So for us to prepare for this well-deserved awards of yours, kindly register early, the latest registrants that we will accept and will still be considered for the award should have registered on or before February 16, 2013 or a month before the race.

    Please write or indicate in BDO deposit slip (for on-line registrants) that you are a maiden runner. Once the registration starts on the official centers, the registration form will be featuring a box where the runner can check to indicate that they are maiden runner.

Good day friends! just an additional info to everyone, we will be setting up HENNA TATTOO BOTHS (not free) on March 15 within the starting area vicinity for those who wanted to put some ‘significant marks’ in their skin – this idea is inspired by the ‘warriors’ who goes on the battle with marks in their skin/face to show that they are in for the war. Because like i what i’ve said this event will transform you into a ‘super runner’ and you need all the preparation both mentally and physically even psychologically to conquer it.

    We will also have a simple carboloading salo-salo on March 15 6PM and the main objective of the party more than anything else is to familiarize everyone with the route of the event to prepare you mentally to the ‘battle’ ahead.

  17. Here’s what’s is new to LUUM-2 SuperMarathon:

    (1) There will be a ‘new award’ to be introduce or the so-called ‘maiden runner award’ where the first time runner of both 50K and 42K who will be able to finish the race will be receiving a Special Certificate with their name written on it plus a lei that will be put in their neck to honor them of their ‘super’ achievement,

    (2) All Runners of 42K and 50K will be using a personalized bib,

    (3) Henna tattoo booth will be set-up in the registration area a day before the event (March 15, 2013) for those who want to put significant mark on their skins in preparation for the tough battle ahead,

    (4) Their will be a simple ‘carbo salo-salo’ on March 15, 2013 @ 6PM which the main objective is not only to fuel the runners with energy giving delicacies but most especially to orient them regarding the route and the mechanics of the event to mentally prepare them to the tough battle ahead,

    Finally (5) FINISHERS MEDAL will be awarded to the LOWER CATEGORIES (21K, 10K, and 5K) on a first registrant or first come basis. Only those registrants who are able to register starting January 2 to January 30 will be receiving the said medals, and to assure them that they will receive the said medals they will be given a tag before the start of the event to recognize them being the recipient of these medals once they reach the finish line.

  18. Friends, fellow runners due to the demand of many runners who failed to register because of the HOLIDAY constraints, we will extend the early bird registration up until January 16, 2013 only. However, all the ‘super mug’ are now reserved. Nevertheless, the same discount rates still applies: 15% for individual registrants and 20% for group registrants. The shuttle discount follows.

    REGARDING THE RACE KIT, all race kit can be claimed once the registration in Manila starts on Feb 04, 2013 @ ROX BGC, other centers that might be use in releasing the race kit will be announce soon!

    In relation to the question raised by Bones, all runners of 42K and 50K of SUPERMARATHON are advised to bring a HEADLAMP because the gunstart for the said categories will be 2:00 in the morning at madlilim po sa ruta dahil and ruta po ay outback ng La Union. We in our part will try to remedy it by using motorcycles of the marshall to light the way for you, but just the same we encourage you to bring your own lighting for your convenience. We don’t have a choice but to release you @ 2AM bec we would not want you to burn under the summer heat of the sun.

  21. *** ‘push the pace’, and to all interested participants to LUUM-2 Super Marathon, we have two good news for you: 1) as of yesterday, there are one thousand seven hundred (1700) confirmed participants of the event, and 2) the onsite registration for the event has started TODAY at ROX BGC. The schedule of registration is from Monday to Saturday, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.The registration will run until the end of month of February so hurry and register now before we impose a limit on participants. Fellow runners, friends, yours truly will be at ROX Taguig (BGC) on Monday Feb 04, 2013 at 4PM to 8PM to personally release the singlets of the early registrants (November to December 31) and the runners who registered until yesterday. Paalala lang po, only those who registered on or before January 16, 2013 can get their personalize bibs, the rest (registrants from January 17 to January 31) can get it on the 3rd week of February. Please don’t expect to receive a beautiful loot bag, your loot bag will come on the day of the event simpleng plastic lang po tayo na pambalot ng race kit nyo, which includes your bib, singlet and map. We have to save every penny para maalagaan kayo ng husto sa March 15 to 16 and maibigay ang maganda at mahal na medalya, runners band, finisher singlet at loot bag ninyo. Hangad namin ang inyong pang unawa at sana makarating kayo sa Lunes gusto ko kayo makita at makilala lahat.

    Clarification lang po kc it happened to us in the Ku Ikaika Marathon where they posted a specially designed finsisher singlet but when we received the loot bag its just an ordinary singlet and the design was different from they posted. di naman ako cguro naubusan kc ive finshed the 21k at 2:0X….But again you can still count us in joining your event running the 50k distance… hoping that this time you’ll give us a well organize run…

  32. andi we have two options, one on february 23 at ROX and no.2 options dito po sa La Union on March. Just a reminder, only those who registered on or before January 16 can avail of the personalize bib, beyond the said date, the participant will have to pay P50 for a personalize bib. Finally, the personalized bib is until Feb 16 only for those who would want to have personalize bib or to those who are willing to pay for it. Thank you!

  33. nypd no sir hindi po March 16 po talaga ang LUUM-2 Super Marathon, initially we thought of having it on Feb 23 sana but we dont push for it kase iniwasan namin ang malalaking event like Condura, SIM with due respect to these establish events. We would want the runners of the two mentioned marathons to have sufficient rest so that they can consider our full mary and ultra here in SuperMarathon.

  34. Friends fellow runners, here’s how the program for LUUM2 will run on March 15 to 16, 2013:
    On March 15:
    1. 8:00AM – Runners who availed of the shuttle service will be picked-up at Market-Market Taguig. The exact time of departure from Taguig is 8AM no more no less . iRunners will implement strict implementation of schedule, no excuses, no special treatment, no special case and this is the reason we have posted the sched more than month before event.
    *** Only morning schedule is available, the noon schedule is not sufficient to carry the full shuttle capacity of 50 passengers
    *** To those interested to avail of the second shuttle service pls post you interest here, as of the moment there are 13 runners on the waiting list.

    2. 2:00 to 3:00PM: iRunners will assist all participants in their lodging houses/hotels to secure their comfortable stay

    3. 6:00PM: A simple Carboloading Party or “Carbo salo-salo” will be conducted at DMMMSU Mid Campus. Runners will be briefed on the route of the event, they will also be given info about the City and the Province and recommend where they can have their short vacation or get-away after the race. Specialized booth will also be set-up in the same venue where the runners can avail of henna tattooing, buy souvenir items among others.

    4. 7:30 to 10:00PM: Onsite registration will be conducted in the Kubo or infront of the Start and Finish area.

    On March 16
    1. 12:30AM: Short program will be conducted:
    – Opening Prayer
    – La Union Hymn
    – Brief brief
    – Moral support speech
    – Lighting of Flying Lanterns
    -Gunstart for 50K at exactly 1:00AM
    -Gunstart for 42K at exactly 1:30AM
    -Gunstart for 21K at exactly 4:30AM
    -Gunstart for 10K at exactly 5:00AM
    -Gunstart for 5/3K at exactly 5:15AM

    2. Awarding will be done at exactly 8AM
    – Early Bird Registrants will be awarded.
    – “Most Hakot Award” will be awarded with certificate and token to individual/s who recruited or responsible for organizing a group of participant plus the group w
    – Maiden runners will be awarded with lei upon reaching the finish line, they will also get their personalized certificate at designated booths. Maiden runners will also have a single and group picture taking.
    – All Runners Groups will also be awarded and with Certificate
    – The oldest male and female runner will be awarded with certificate and token
    – Runner/s with best attire/get-up will be awarded with certificate and token
    – Best couple/family award will be given away
    – Best Group will be awarded with Certificate and Cash Award
    – Biggest Contingent will be awarded with Certificate and Cash prize
    – The last runner to arrive will be awarded with Perseverance Award
    – Top 3 winners for every category (male and female) will be awarded with medal and cash
    *** Free Massage booth will be available from 6AM to 10AM most especially to 21K to 50K runners

May magchecheck po ba ng list doon sa venue para maverify na nag-avail ang tao na to. Baka kasi may magpumilit na sumakay na hindi naman nag-avail ng shuttle. maraming salamat po!

MohawkRunner, the names of the runners who availed of the shuttle will be posted on Feb 23 so that all can check if their names are included in the list. now the stub will be distributed on the day of travel. We will make sure that every passenger that will be serviced by the shuttle are the legitimate runners who paid the corresponding fees and paid on the allotted time, thank you for the bringing up this concern.

  39. to the organizer,lage na lang walang tao sa registration booth nyu sa rox kapag pumupunta kame. nung saturday nagsadya pa kame sa rox to register, pero wala namang tao. We asked yung neighboring registration desk if may tao ba nun and the guy answered “wala pong tao dyan, kanina pa nga madameng nagtatanong”.
    you informed us thru fb na may important event yung staff nyu kaya walang tao. dapat man lang sana, naglagay kayo ng kapalit nya to entertain those people who are interested to join.
    then we went there twice kanina, still wala pa ring tao sa reg booth nyo..

  40. joy, swordsman, uulitin ko po yung schedule ng staff namin dun, andun lang po sya lunes hanggang sabado pero pumapasok lang po sya ng 6PM to 9PM only. Meron din po kase syang pinagkakaabalahan at hiniram lang po namin ang kanyang oras. I hope you understand that hiring a registration staff in Manila area will cost a lot, it takes 12thousand to 15thousand to hire a full time staff and we simply can’t afford that amount of money. Ipinapakiusap nalang po namin na sana ay maintindihan nyo ang aming kakayanan.   41. Friends We would like to remind everyone that the “maiden runner award” submission or registration of entry is up only on the 23rd of February. Beyond the said date we will no longer consider runners for the said award. This is for us to have the needed time to consolidate and print your Certificates to make it personalized.   42. Friends it took us sometime to arrive at a decision and now we would like to announce that the final schedule of gunstarts for 50K will be 1AM and for 42K it will be 2AM. We assure you that we weigh down all suggestions before coming up with our decision. Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagbigay ng opinyon.

  43. Friends, fellow runners, the registration for LUUM-2 Super Marathon will end on February 28, 2013, this is to make sure that all registrants and the needed logistics/requirements of the event are well accounted for. So hurry and register today and never miss the experience in running the first ever Super Marathon in the country!

  44. A reminder to all participants of LUUM-2 particularly for 21K, 42K and 50K, your Finishers t-shirt i assure you is one that you will wear proudly because of its quality and aesthetic value, and we all know that quality always comes with a price, so when you pick you finisher shirt on March 16, 2013, pls prepare a P100 to augment the cost of your t-shirt. I hope you guys understand, thank you and see you at the Super Marathon!

  45. Sir Randy willing po kami sa additional 100 pesos para sa Finisher’s shirt. Suggestion lang po, puwede po kaya maging katulad nung sa Condura na ‘reserved’ ang Finisher’s shirt ng bawat isa? That way e sure po ang runner na yung Finisher’s shirt nya e sakto sa size nya which is based sa singlet size during registration. Thank you!

  47. Friends pls take note of the following reminders with regards to the registration for LUUM-2 SuperMarathon:

    1. For those runners (particularly 21K, 42K, 50K) who would want to avail or secure the following: SINGLET, FINISHER MEDAL, FINISHER T-SHIRT AND RUNNERS BANDs, you are advised to register ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 28, 2013 – if you register beyond the said date, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT WE CANNOT ASSURE you that you can still avail of these items because we will order them in advance and prioritize the runners who registered on the prescribe date.

    2. The registration for LUUM2 will be EXTENDED on March 15, 2013 at exactly 10:00 in the evening, however, as we mentioned above, we cannot promise as to the availability of the said items – at the most, we can only offer FREE-SIZE FINISHER SHIRT, but we cannot promise the availability of your finishers medal.
    For security reasons, Runners who registered early (on or before Feb.28) will be given a tag, to ensure that they will get their well-deserved medals. And with regards to the t-shirt, the finishers t-shirt are packed in a ”personalized loot bag” to assure the runners who registered on the prescribe date that they will not missed their t-shirt and their respective sizes.

    3. The registration at ROX BGC will be extended until March 06, 2013 but again the same rule that is expressed above will be applied for those runners who will register beyond February 28, 2013.

    4. Runners resident of La Union will get a special rate for 3k and 5K categories, if they opt to run using their own t-shirt/singlet they can join the run by paying ONLY P48 – again this promo is only for La Union residents and only applies to 3K and 5K categories.

    5. BOTTOM LINE, please don’t miss the date (FEBRUARY 28, 2013) for you to secure your participation here in LUUM-2 Super Marathon.

  48. paki-linaw lang po!..my finisher shirt at medal din po ba ang 21k runners ng LUUM2013?..magpapareg po sna kmi knina s rox kaso wla dw medal at finisher shirt ang 21k at wla din malinaw n freebies kya ayun po umatras kmi ng fren ko!..iba din mga kulay ng singlet dun kumpara sa nkikita ko dito sa net..

  49. rosamarie, isa isahin natin, yes our staff at ROX was right bec initially we decided to not give any thing sa 21k bec it is too expensive to do so, but we realized that Half marathon is a half marathon and runners deserved to be acknowledge of their feat. So we will give a beautiful finishers medal and finisher shirt but the shirt will come with additional price, upon claiming of your finisher shirt you guys will have to pay 125 to augment the fund we paid for the t-shirt, it is bec we ordered from the same supplier of RUPM and this means that the tshirt is quite expensive because of its relative quality and so we need assistance from the runners just to produce this shirt. With regards to the color of singlet for 21K, it is the same ORANGE color singlet that we posted in the facebook, hindi po yan na-alter. Maraming salamat po and hope to see you here come March 16, 2013!

  50. job, we are sorry but we won’t have a second shuttle. with regards to the timing we will simply use a barcode system. RFID is too much for us to shoulder, the P900 is barely enough to cover the expenses and logistics of the event. Maybe next year we will ask Coach Rio to adopt LUUM and if that happens then we will have a more sophisticated timing system. Don’t worry we will do our best to capture all the time of runners and their personal mark. salamat

  51. You mentioned a tag via which one can claim his/her finisher’s shirt,medal and conqueror band. Wala yata akong nakitang ganon when I signed up noong Feb 14 for the 50k. I just got the bib, shirt and map – not even a receipt. Will that tag be made available on race day itself? Please advise. Thanks!
