LUUM or La Union Unity Marathon is the banner event of iRunners. LUUM – II SuperMarathon is the follow-up of the much successful 1st Annual La Union Unity Marathon or LUUM – 1 which was held last February 25, 2012. LUUM is derived from the Ilocano lingo which means ‘ripe’ – the perfect term to coin the advocacy of iRunners which is to promote the Tourism of La Union. This is our way of telling to the rest of the world that La Union is ‘Ripe for Tourism’. Thru the yearly conduct of LUUM, iRunners believe that the world discover its pristine yet unexplored grandeur and beauty.

The first LUUM was a huge success: it was the first and biggest running event in the province that was organized by iRunners and participated by thousands of locals as well as visitor runners; it was also the only all-Filipino running event where foreign runners are invited only for special participation (they are not allowed to compete for prize money); it was participated and supported by the various sectors of the society: various Government Organizations, NGOs, Private Institutions, Academe, Student Organizations, Youth Organizations, Athlete groups, even ordinary citizens of La Union. Even the Philippine Military Academy supported the event and sent almost a hundred contingents (Cadets and Staff of the Academy) in support of the cause of the event.

Now, on its second edition, iRunners due to the high billing of its maiden event is tasked to give you the best running event that will surely brings out the ‘Super Runner’ in you!

In LUUM – 1 they gave you the best route here in La Union , now in its 2nd edition the organizers will give you the best of the best! The route will mesmerize you; the route is specially chosen to bring out the sturdy and ‘super runner’ in you, and most of all participants will become part again of another history of running in the Country because it is the first time that an Ultra Marathon and Regular Marathon will be featured in one single running event, thus the rational for term SuperMarathon ! So mark the date, March 02, 2013 join this once in a lifetime event, experience a super running experience and be the super runner that you can be !

  1. Good Morning Runners, friends this is Randy Abasolo, Founder and lead Organizer of LUUM. For the past month after we have posted LUUM – II SUPERMARATHON in the facebook or iRunner – the facebook fanpage of our group, and we have received positive reactions, suggestions and comments.However, there is one consensus among Runners, Ultra runners and full Marathoners – they would love to join the event if we are able to adjust the date. So upon extensive research and inquiry to the schedules of major running events that will fall closer to our conceived date, such as SUBIC MARATHON, BDM, TBR, RUN UNITED, BAGUIO 21K, KENNON GLOBAL, TNF100 AND MAYON 360, iRunners is now inclined to move the initial date of our event from March 02 to March 16. This decision is our way to respect the schedule of other big events as well as to give opportunity for the Runners all over the country to have the opportunity to join the first ever SuperMarathon in the country!

  2. Sir Eric like what i’ve posted above, we move the date of LUUM – II para di sya kasabay ng BDM. For the info of everybody MARCH 16, 2012 na ang LUUM SuperMarathon at Feb 26 to March 3, 2013 ang BDM. This event is just the needed “cool-down” run after the BDM and wonderful preparation for Mayon and TNF bec of its route and challenges we prepared for the Super Runners like you!

Good afternoon fellow runners, friends, first of all thank you sir ronald, jaybee, ramoes, arnold and sir bem for your interest to join LUUM – Supermarathon :-) As for the query of sir odie, starting December 15, 2012 we will begin the online registration and will offer 50% discount to the registrants who will register from Dec. 15 to Dec 30.
    As to the concern with regards to the companions or buddy system, we will again implement a Shuttle system or a one-stop pick -up scheme to fetch all runners that will be coming from Manila and adjacent cities or places.

    speaking of shuttle service dapat MAHIGPIT kayo sa rules regarding diyan kasi meron diyan mga paimportante tulad nung kuikaika hindi nakaalis on time ang bus dahil may mga late. siguro okay na yung 5mins na palugit from the specified time na aalis pag wala iwan na lang tapos refund yung binayad nya.. KASI MASISIRA ANG PLANO/ITINERARY NG IBANG RUNNERS KUNG SOBRA SOBRA ANG PAGHIHITAY SA MGA LATE NA YUN..

  5. I agree po with Steve sir Randy, sayang kasi yung time ng paghihintay tapos dahil din dun e inabot na kami ng traffic. Sayang tuloy yung time na ma-spend sana namin sa resort kung saan kami naka-book.

    Kung may free shuttle and 50% discount e siguradong maisasama ko ulit mga ofismates ko pati na rin ibang mga kasama ko sa running group ko na nagsabi na rin na interested silang sumali. :)

Sir Steve and Sir Jaybee, like what i’ve said, iRunners now is better and stronger; we learned a lot from our shortcomings from ku ikaika and for sure you will see the result of this lessons learned in LUUM – II.     Same here, will debut @ RUPM for my 1st Marathon & will debut my 1st Ultramarathon here. We need to train hard for this one, already tried running 40K last sunday in preparation for RUPM. Hope I could run longer in the coming few months in preparation for this one.

    If ever po yung shutlle service po ba na papunta ng La Union is a day before the event? Sa evening po ng March 12 ang byahe then sakto po sa event day yung dating sa La Union? Para po hinde na ako mag check-in sa hotel, kasi plano ko after the event ay uuwi na din po ako.

    Arnold, ang mangyayari ay ganito, March 15, 8AM ang pick up sa lahat ng runners dyan sa Manila. Between 2 to 3 in the afternoon ang dating nyo dito sa La Union. You have time to rest between 3PM to 2AM (say you will join the 50K) and the good thing is i can provide you a descent place or transient house that only charges P100 inclusive of a fan, shower or water and kuryente for 24hours stay, kung magtitipid ka. I can also book you to a aircon hotel for only P320. I really hope to see you here come March 16, 2012, thank you and let’s conquer ourselves and the world!

    Tanong ko lang po kung may bayad yun shuttle na magdadala sa mga runners from manila to la union? round trip din po ba yun? Bus or Van? first time po namin na tatakbo sa La union kung sakali :) at kayo na rin po ba mismo ang maghahanap ng pwede namin matuluyan pagdating dun? at kung oo sana malapit lang sa venue kasi gaya namin first time na pupunta dun. Pasensya na po kung marami akong tanong :) thanks!

  15. Mary Ann, ganito po mam, if you register between December 15 to Dec 30 2012 you will get a discount sa shuttle atleast 25% discount on fare. To give you an idea of how much you will save, the regular fare for round trip is P900 by registering early you will get P225 discount for the fare and another 25% discount for the registration on any category. The shuttle will be a Big Bus. And yes, i will be the one to look for the hotel or transient houses as i always does in the events of iRunners. And yes again the Hotels are adjacent to the start and finish line, approximately 2 to 3 minutes near.

  16. i ran the ku ika ika and it was really disappointing. First, i wast able to get my personalized bib, i was given an ordinary bib instead, then sa distribution ng singlet sa venue kagulo, wala pang mga pins yung race bib, last hour yung distribution ng race kit, then i run-out of medal tapos wala pang finishers shirt… ang masakit.. dumayo pa kami all the way from Manila just to experienced this.. if theres one consolation, maganda yung lugar.. kaso sa simula lang magaling ang orginizers nito.. yung mga last runners pinabayaan na, pinagtiklupan pa ng finish line…hayyy

    I was also there during Ku Ikaika and yes it was a bit disappointing. However, nakita po namin ang pagsisikap ng IRunners na maisaayos lahat despite of the problems na nangyari. I still give them A for their effort. Lagi rin silang available to answer queries from the runners through FB, text or dito sa PF.

    Yung kasama kong isa e 2nd to the last yata na nakatapos ng 42K. Although mas maganda sana kung meron pa ring mga marshals na nagu-guide e di ko po masasabi na pinabayaan sila. In the middle of the sun sa beach e nagbibigay pa rin sila ng water at sinundo pa nila yung mga runners na nahuli.

    Dun sa mga di agad nakakuha ng finisher’s shirt and medal, they promised to deliver it which they did. Medyo na-delay man due to budget, naging mabilis naman ang pagpapadala nila ng mga items.

    I’ve seen the dedication of the Organisers and I’m sure they won’t let any of these things happen again. I’ve spoken to some of the runners from the region and they said ok naman talaga ang IRunners. Medyo di nga lang pinalad sa Ku Ikaika.

    Di po ako nakikipagtalo ha…I’m just being fair to everyone po. Thank you. =)

  18. I’m planning to take my 2nd ultramarathon for 2013 in this province hoping na maisaayos na ng mga organizers ang mga pagkukulang nila nung mga nakaraang events…Once is enough, twice is too much…hopefully they will improve by this time..

  20. sir jayBee maraming pong salamat for being fair to everybody including us (irunners), nakakatuwa po malaman na meron pong nakapansin sa aming pagsisikap na itama ang pagkukulang o pagkakamali namin. Everybody commit mistakes, but sometimes we dont have the total control that leads to it pero regardless of the cause of the shortcomings kailangan na maging proactive tayo at harapin ito no matter what how much will be the cost. Muli po salamat Sir!

  21. Hi irunners, i’m interested to join this event. May i know if there were be provided hydration stations on 42k or 50K. Kasi some ultra runs has none and we need to bring with us crews to support, such case will give us additional expenses.

  22. i think di na kailangan pang magdala ng support crews. just bring your own hydration bag/belt coz im sure me hydration namang ipoprovide di lang sure kung sapat yun.

Karl here is the answer to your query, YES LOTS of water stations and Drums of water will be provided sa event whether you will runt eh ULTRA or Regular Marathon lahat kayo ay maliligo sa dami po ng tubig – yan po ang isang trademark ng iRunners, ang assurance na walang mauuhaw na Runners. Ramoes again maraming salamat po sa inyo sa suporta at sa trust sa amin and i hope we can see each other here come March 16 para mapasalamatan po namin kayo ng personal.
    For Ms. Mary Ann Milana, Mam it’s up to your or your group, but my suggestion is sana mabayaran nyo na rin to avail of the 25% discount on fares.   27. kulet, good afternoon, what we can assure you as of today is only 25% discount both on the registration and shuttle if you register ONLINE starting November 15, until Dec. 30, 2012(the date is a new development). Yung 50% ay assumption lang na may malaking sponsor na sasagot sa fare, but since as of now we still don’t have the sponsorship that will augment for the future fare expense. thank you for clarifying the matter.

  29. @irunner, walang anuman po. ikinagagalak kong makatulong sa mga organizer na may hangaring makapagbigay ng kasiyahan sa bawat isa. Suggestion ko lang po na sana mas maaga ang gunstart ng ultra at full marathon (mga 2am at 3am or 1am at 2am) para po di masyadong abutan ng tanghali ang mga kalahok para na din po maiwasan ang init ng ulo ng mga commuters na maabala kung sakaling isasara ang mga pangunahing daanan at para nrin po mabigyan ang mga kalahok ng sapat na oras upang makapamasyal sa inyong lungsod pag maagang makatapos. Salamat po.

    3. LOCATION OF THE START/FINISH LINE: Right in front of the City Hall of San Fernando City, La Union
    4. ORGANIZER: iRunners
    5. CATEGORIES: 50k, 42k, 21k, 10k, 5k, 3k, and Kiddie Run (1k)
    6. RACE KIT CONTENT: For 50K and 42K it will be singlet, map, silicone ‘Conquerors wrist band’ (which you have to earn or to get in the turning points) 2 bottles of energy drink – finishers tshirt one each or separate design for 50K and 42K
    7. SPECIAL CATEGORIES/AWARD: Best Couple/family or group, Best in Costume, Biggest Contingent, Oldest Runner (male and female)
    8. TYPE OF ROUTE: All cemented/asphalted all thru-out the entire route of both 50K, 42K, and the rest of categories
    9. ROUTE DESCRIPTION: For 50K and 42K expect a lot of uphill-downhill-uphill trend all the way thru leading you to the top of the mountains ranging from 850 to 1200 ft. above sea level, the route will lead you in the midst of the forest and will let you roam to the fields of tobacco and corn. With regards to RU1 2013 sched, all i know is that their sched is March 24 and in case they changed the date the SUPERMARATHON will proceed as scheduled, kase i have changed and considered their schedule already and incase magsabay kami ok lang kase ill be catering din naman sa mga Ultra Runners and sa mga runners na sawa na sa polusyon o mausok na ruta(sorry for being frank)

    Kung individual (or number is below 20) e 15% for both transpo and reg so the 42K and 50K will be around 1670.25 pesos?
    Kung group of 20 naman e 20% which will be 1572?

    siguro some points na lang to irunners:

    -if you will be providing a shuttle service for manila runners sana this time maging mahigpit sa oras ng pag alis ng manila. pag wala sa itinakdang oras sorry na lang siya maiiwan siya at you have to return his/her payment.     in addition to what steve said, kindly provide enough marshalls throughout the course especially in road intersections and U-turn area.

    Likewise, the medical team (paramedics) should be placed in a strategic location.
