  6. as with most trail run events, I hope both the participants and organizers are responsible enough not to leave any trash in La Mesa. Seems like most rumners have this mentality that they have the right to throw their cups/bottles anywhere because they are racing.

i’ve seen so much trash and trail markers left behind from previous trail run events such as the Merrel run un Timberland and The North Face run in Baguio

  7. Hi Tedaks,

Yes we will provide three different singlets for each Leg.

    Hi Marc,

Yes we will clean up the route. La Mesa Forest Reserve is Protected Area and part of our agreement with them is keep all areas clean after the event.

We practice the “Leave No Trace Principle”

    Thanks,

    Ian Alacar

  8. So long as the organizer provide the necessary trash bins, I don’t think it would be much of a problem. Otherwise – much as I hate to say this – you can’t blame them (the runners) for throwing their trash anywhere they please. It is, after all, the organizer’s responsibility. Runners are focused only at what they signed up for – RUN. POGI points to those who are responsible enough to keep the trail clean.

I bring my own hydration, so no problem with me. =)

  9. Sometimes even with trash bins there are runners who still throw their trash anywhere. Ive been competing before and i also am guilty of throwing anywhere in pursuit of a win or a PR.

Anyway, we clean up naman. We do not put the blame sa participants. The race venue will be cleaned when all runners are done or almost done sa race.

@ Andrew = Cut-off time for 5K is two hours and four hours for the 10K

    Thanks.

  10. Hi Rachel,

What other details do you need? We basically covered the registration information that is needed.

Regarding the details that are to follow which I mentioned are “Bus departures. These will be provided right at the same time when we start the registration.

Don’t worry we have prepared for this event and the reason why we have only a short time period for the registration is because we are limiting the event to only 500 participants.

@Bill Boyd – It follows the genre of Spartan Race and other challenge races in the US. However the distances are not exactly the same but we offer the same dirt, challenge, excitement and thrill.

Only the toughest shall arrive first at the finish line.

  11. 2 race’s moved their schedule na, tuloy na tuloy na ba toh? for the shuttle, how much fare fee?

Name for this race: No surrender, No Cancellation… :-)

  12. grrr, short notice! aug.29 ang uwi ko and cannot be moved n kasi finalised n ang booking. sounds interesting p nmn tong event.ü

    good luck to all entrant.ü

  13. Guys,

3)Yung executive coaches which will serve as bus transpo, magkano ang bayad?

4)Kailangan ba naka Leg1 ka para makapag Leg2 ka?

If this is as hardcore as I expect it should be, then I’m excited.

  14. Pahabol lang, kung pinattern ninyo sa Tough Mudder at Spartan Race ito then needless to say, dapat mas mahirap pa ito sa urbanathlon or sa ibang adventure runs.

  15. @BataBatuta – Yes but like we said not exactly the same in terms of distance. But definitely mas mahirap pa siya sa Urbanathlon.

And to clarify, ang Adventure Runs ay different from Obstacle Challenge Events.

Adventure Races are multi disciplined and can go multiday such as Carera Habagat and Cordura Races back in the 90’s.

  16. Hi Batabatuta,

You can check previous events we have posted dito sa pinoyfitness like Brooks Run Happy 2, Great Bank Fun Run and recently yung Kelloggs Super K Run para mabasa mo yung reviews.

As Race Director I have also organized the 2010 Urbanathlon at BGC and the 2011 Men’s Health All Terrain Race sa Nuvali.

La Mesa Dam offers Mid to High Canopy na Forest. It is a mix of extremely muddy and gravel trails.

Its not necessary na you have joined Leg 1 to join Leg 2 and Leg 3.

    Best,

    Ian Alacar
    Race Organizer

  17. ok noted…so in terms of distance lang talaga ang kaibahan…pero as to difficulty,at par with or very close to Spartan/Tough mudder

  18. In a way yes, halos we made it at par yung level of difficulty pero not so hard dahil meron pang Leg 3 which we want to make as the most challenging of the 3 events. Thanks bro!

  19. yup I saw you hehehe….This event was announced on such a short notice although yung pagpostpone ng 7-11 run at nung Rexona run could work to your advantage. It baffles me kung pano ang preparations ninyo at this stage…considering na may calamidad tayo ngayon.

Here’s hoping this will be as organized and as hydration/medic/marshall friendly as with your previous races. :)

  20. Sana merong registration sa SM Megamall; otherwise, kindly confirm if registration sites mentioned above are ready to accept registrants as scheduled and that the race kits are available para di sayang ang lakad.

  21. just asking, will you allow bare foot runners and the ones using running sandals? kung ihahambing sa spartan runs, dapat sandals. just asking here before i register, im a sandal runner by the way.

  22. paki add po chris sports MEGAMALL… para may mahikayat akong sumali sa area. thanks. yung transpo po pala papunta sa venue papano? can you clarify it kasi medyo magulo ang detail.

  23. Hi Guys,

We are working on your request regarding the option to have registration at SM Megamall however Chris Sports declined our request to put it there. However we have Glorietta 3 and SM North as venues.

@ Roy, we will allow barefoot runners to join.

We will also have final announcements tomorrow regarding the opening of registration on Saturday.

As an add-on service, free bus rides will be provided. Participants are not required to pay the bus ride. Organizers hired these vehicles to assist the participants. Specific waves and schedules are pre-assigned. Bus departure schedules are given during the registration.

    Please see matrix as guide:

10K Waves Time of Departure from Shell
    1 6:00 5:00
    2 6:10 5:00
    3 6:20 5:00
    4 6:30 5:00
    5 6:40 5:20
    6 6:45 5:20
    7 6:50 6:00
    8 6:55 6:00
    9 7:00 6:00

5K Waves Time of Departure from Shell
    1 7:30 6:30
    2 7:40 6:30
    3 7:50 6:30
    4 8:00 7:00
    5 8:10 7:00
    6 8:20 7:30

When you register you will be asked for the Wave Schedule/Time of Start you want, after choosing we will verify if the given schedule is okay within 36 hours. If not we will let you choose between the remaining available schedules.

  24. I’m confused with the matrix. What does that mean? for example sa 10k Wave 1: its 6:00 then its 5:00 Assuming it means we leave the bus leaves at 5am ETA at 6am then the gunstart of Wave 1 is around 7am?

    • Hi Batabatuta,

This is the simple formula of the matrix. Ill explain it piece by piece

The number “1” refers to the first bus who will leave Shell Station.

The “Waves” are the Gun time or time of Start, meaning the first Wave will start at 6:00am.

Now, the bus that will bring the participants to the venue will leave at 5:00am from Shell which is the “Time of Departure from Shell”

From here you can choose first the time of departure you want from Shell thus the corresponding gun time of your wave at the race area.

We will be posting an FAQ Sheet here to further guide the participants

  26. What if a runner completes all 3 legs of the Immuvit Fearless Challenge 2012? Will he/she be entitled to an award of some sort like at Run United?

    • Hi Brad,

We will be posting the medal designs within the day. Yes there will be a recognition token for those who will complete the three legs

  27. sayang walang megamall, dami lng kasi ng worksite ko, by the way from running area may bus po bang pabalik ng pick-up point pag pauwi n ang mga runners.

yung registration fee is only applicable for this leg of the run?

  28. Got it….sensya na medyo slow…e yung sa paguwi? kanya kanya na ba o yung coaches din ang magdadala sa amin pabalik ng Shell for free? kung 4 hours ang cutoff ng 10k, anong oras ang time of departure? ibig sabihin ba kung ang last wave e 7am, ang time of departure is around 11-12nn….had to know kasi ganitong ganito ang naging problema sa Merrell nung June.

    Thanks.

    • Hi Guys,

      Good Morning! Update ulit.

@Batabatuta: Yes bro we will provide transport service from La Mesa pabalik sa Ayala technohub starting ng 12:00nn (tentative pa to ha)Kasi we might have to adjust depending sa Awarding ceremony.

@Brad: Regarding the type of gloves, we recommend yung “for Rappeling use” na gloves para snug yung fit. Marami kasi parts dun na you have to wear this para hindi masugatan sa pag-climb ng ropes at ng wall at kapag maluwag and natanggal in the middle of the climb yung gloves mas mahihirapan kayo.

Yes, whistles are for emergency situations. This is to call the attention of our marshals that you need emergency help.

REMINDER: Do not use the whistle to poke fun kasi we treat this with grave concern. Participants who will use the whistle apart from emergency situations may cause their disqualification.

Also please take note that this will happen at La Mesa Forest Reserve and not at La Mesa Eco Park. Eto yung Area that is highly forested, hindi tayo sa Eco Park (Play ground lang yun compared sa terrain dito).

      Finally Registration Update:

All registration areas will start receiving registration tomorrow, Saturday Aug 11, 2012.

      SM North
      SM MOA
      SM Manila
      Fitness and Athletics BHS
      Glorietta 3

However the singlets will be delayed till next week because our supplier was affected by the flooding. Kaya for the those registering may bawas na 50 php from the race fee. For the mean time until we have singlets available at the stores. T

The registration fee for the 5k and 10k are as follows:

      5k – 550
      10k – 750

To cover the cost ng transportation ninyo pagbalik. We will also inform you here at PF.com when the singlets are available na. Rest assured we are fast tracking everything para early next week the singlets will be available kagad.

  30. @Ian Alacar: Thanks sir for responding po.

I have another inquiry. Kindly clarify naman po this rule: “Hand Gloves and whistles are mandatory race requirements. Without these equipments and you will not be allowed to start.”

Who will provide the hand gloves po? If kami, ano pong type ng gloves and whistles? Any specific brand and type?

    • i think hand gloves and whistles are needed in this event since its an obstacle run, not just an ordinary trail run. Gloves are usually needed to prevent incise wounds during obstacle course. Whistles are used to signal marshalls or other runners if untoward incident like injury occurs during the event.

  31. @jp or baka yung

  33. @lyn

Non-participants are welcome within the venue provided that they are with a registered participant, however, free transportation does not cover the non participants. Only participants are allowed to take advantage of this service. No bibs/stubs, no ride.

Participants are advised to be at the assembly station at least 30 minutes before their scheduled bus departures. The bus will load 15 minutes before departure time. Departure schedule will be strictly followed whether passengers are complete or not.

    Thank you.

  34. To fellow runners:

Okay lang po ba gumamit ng sandals dito like Sandugo All Terrain Sandals, Merell, etc.? I am new to trail run kasi so hingi lang po ako ng suggestion. :)

  35. medal design is awesome. sana ganito rin ka.ganda yung actual medal. please provide a baggage counter and if a non participant friend will accompany me on this race, how much po yung transpo fee nila. one more thing, please provide sample singlets sa mga chris outlets para masukat po namin at makapili ng correct size. sana maging successful po ang event na to.

  36. Hi All,

    Update ulit.

Regarding the Activity Area, we will provide.

    Hydration Stations
    Baggage Counter
    Medical Booth
    Security Command Center
    Information Booth
    Holding Area for Participants
    Shower Area
    Portalets
    Changing Room

    Best,

    Ian Alacar
    Race Organizer

  37. Hi Sir Ian,

Pwede po ba kahit naka All Terrain Sandals lang or kailangan shoes po talaga? Also, meron po ba kayong pwedeng iendorse na specific brand or type ng gloves at whistles na dapat bilhin or gamitin? Pasensya na po kung maraming tanong. :)

    • Hi Brad,

We really recommend participants to wear trail shoes for safety pero we will not stop naman those who want to do this ng barefoot or those who want to wear trail sandals.

With regards to the whistle and gloves you can get this sa Outdoor and sports shops and stores like ROX, Habagat, North Face and Pittman.

You can ask their store personnel for a good pair of gloves. But personally ang choice ko is TNF gloves.

      Best,

      Ian Alacar

  38. Any age limit? For the “young ones” lang ba ito? baka di ko kayanin yung obstacles a!!! I was able to run in the recent Salomon X-trail and Merrell runs. I am wondering if I can possibly join this one?

  39. Hi Tess,

Wala naman age limit. As long as the participants were able to finish a 10K race. Kaya lang on the obstacles priority will be given to the faster participants. If your running slow or having a hard time you need to give way to the elites.

    Thanks,

    Ian Alacar

  40. Wow, adventure game tlga ito. Kelangan paghandaan kasi di pla makukuha yung medal pag di matapos ang lahat ng challenge.

Can we also use ordinary running shoes here?

  42. registered at moa. No sample singlet sizes available. Only 6 Slots per wave. Since there’s no sample singlet, If I get the wrong size would it be possible to change?
    Thanks.

  43. registered at moa. No sample singlet sizes available. Only 6 Slots per wave. Since there’s no sample singlet, If I get the wrong size would it be possible to change?
    Thanks.

  44. Sir Ian ask ko lang po kung yung entrance po ba nung La Mesa Forest Reserve is yung along Quirino Ave. going to SJDM, Bulacan?

Malapit lang po kasi sa amin yung entrance nun, pwede ko takbuhin for warm-up going to the entrance.

    Thanks in advance po!

  45. Is there a requirement that you should have run a 10k before if you only registered for the 5k? The people at chris sports told me that there is no requirement when i registered for the 5k.

  46. @lyn

There is transportation available at the area, meaning jeeps and buses going to Sapang Tungko (If you are passing through Fairview/Commonwealth).

We can suggest that if you have a vehicle, convoy na lang with the bus but parking is a little limited nga lang inside the nature reserve. There is no parking fee but its a first-come, first served basis.

You can wear ordinary running shoes, pero be prepared to have it battered on the terrain. Maputik kasi talaga on certain places and then gravelly on others.

    @edgar

5K will do three obstacles while 10K will go through all 5.

    @Fatboy_slim and running wild:

In the meantime we have a 50 pesos off sa stores until the singlets will be available.

    @Arnie:
    Yes it is along Quirino.

  47. *Sorry that is Sapang Palay/Tungko buses that pass along Quirino. Just tell the driver that you will get down at the La Mesa Dam Forest Reserve.

  49. @sir ian

gusto po sumama ng GF ko pero hndi sya sasali sa event.. hndi po ba sya pwede sa Bus even though we are willing to pay for the transpo fee?

suggestion lang po: can you provide sa chris store ng sample singlet, kahit yung singlet from a different event. basta same ng sukat ng singlet ng run na to.. in my case, hndi ko rin nman sya gagamitin since may white sa likuran, mahirap labahan kapag naputikan na. i’ll be wearing black singlet or baka mag topless nalang (sana pwede like tough mudder). kse mabigat ang damit pag may kasama ng putik. mas OK sana sakin kung finishers singlet/shirt na may nakalagay na “I survived a Trail Challenge” something like that..

  50. @sir ian

  51. Wow! Medal design is nice. I hope na yung actual medal is mas maganda. Question po. Medals for 5k and 10k will be differently marked. Pero different in lace color and size? :)

  52. @WithoutLimits
Have you guys informed the store that the fee would be less 50? Registered yesterday and we still paid 800. Sayang yung 50 pesos. And also kindly confirm the release of the singlet. Chris Sports Moa told us the singlet can be claimed during the event.

    • Hi Guys,

Sorry for the late reply. We will refund yung mga nagbayad ng 800 and 600 php na hindi pa natanggap yung singlets nila on race day. We will track this nalang at the Chris Sports outlets.

Yes participants can also bring their own vehicles. Medyo maliit nga lang ang parking space sa La Mesa Forest Reserve so first come first serve basis.

We do not encourage first timers to join the race. We require that they must atleast have finished a 10K Fun Run/Race already.

      Registration is until August 23.

      Best,

      Ian Alacar
