  2. why trail running is getting so expensive? i’m not fan of big cash prizes na elite lang naman ang mageenjoy. i’m sure hindi naman mahal ang permit or environmental fees per head. unlike yung fee na binabayaran ng organizers para iclose ang busy highway para sa road running. columbia is a commercial brand. and they’re promoting their brand at the expense of the enthusiasts of this sport. no mention of what comes with 1000php even. ok lang sana if it includes a timing chip + singlet + finisher’s shirt + medal + loots + photoboots and more… kung kasama lahat yan what should stop me from registering and i’ll be gladly looking forward to it…

  3. wow.. sa pinatubo naman to. mas the best talaga ang trail run kesa road running.. will be signing up for this.. sana they provide transpo or merong option na mag-camp the day before the event like nature trail run.

  4. @angelo…

  6. halos kasabay ng mens health urbanathlon. i would love to join this event. sana ma move nga ng October 20.. we would like to move it, move it!! haha.

  7. sana merong shuttle service kahit may extra pay, just like yung ginawa ng MERRELL sa trail run nila last time. Pretty sure mas madadaming sasali dito kapag may shuttle service na allotted.

  8. registered!reg fee incl timing chip and singlet (no info yet if there’s loot bag or finisher’s shirt),,me and my four other team mates got the limited slots for free shuttle yey! =) #excited!

  9. Registered already. As per columbia, no medal and finishers shirt will be given. Plus bring your own hydration. Free shuttle (back n forth) for the first 20 registrant in EACH registration sites.

  10. mahirap po yata puntahan yung location ng event sana free transpo na sa lahat ng sasali dito anyway wala naman po yatang medal or f.shirt eh?

  11. @Mark, #28
merrell adventure run 3 had done in for the price of PHP800. it included a very nice quality singlet and finisher’s shirt, medal, loot bag, and 500 pesos discount on merrell outlets, the hydration stations were well placed also. yun ang gusto ko ipoint out sir. kung may ganyang features ang race na eto, like i said, why not… kaya lang mukhang wala, only mention is “ECO TRAIL – BRING YOUR OWN HYDRATION” scary yan sir for me…

  12. Hydration na naman problema? Hindi kyo pinipilit sumali. Bring your own hydration. I natatkot kyo or masyado mabigat sa loob niyo, then this event not for babies like you. May ilog naman dun, sumalok n lng kyo

  13. I think this is for a serious trail runner since eco-trail runners usually provide their own hydration thus making it more thrilling and exciting…Leave no trace fellow runners…

  14. Guys, you read the final comments of TOOTS, i think he has the points to find and see address to the organizer. well, lets find it…..

  15. Upon registration in columbia stores, you will be given a 50% off on the selected columbia trail shoes plus a 20% discount coupon in all regular columbia products. Also, the 1st 20 registered runners in each registration site will have a free round trip ride to the area. Likewise, the quality of their singlet is much better than merrel.

  16. In every trail run, hydration bags/belt are required and mandatory. Still they have hydration station in certain check points. Since this is an Eco Trail run, hydration bags helps to promote the runners behaviors towards the use of plastic cups! Commendable yung suggestions na shuttle service not only for those 20 early registered participants on five major registration sites!

  17. Hi Organizer, could you please post the route details/map for each category? Is this close to the mountain crater?. Thank you, I appreciate your feedback.

  18. Trail runs fee are understandably expensive than pavement runs because of the logistics and locations.

It is advisable for trail runners to bring their own hydration system since dehydration or the need of water is more occurrence due to the nature of trails (Mas mahirap, nakaka pagod and Na kakauhaw) . Waist pack or back pack types of hydration are recommended compare to hand held bottles since hands will be used more often for balance and support along uneven trails.

I don’t see any problem if the organizers suggested runners to bring their own hydration pack, in-fact it is their responsibility to reiterate that issue. And they are not saying that there won’t be any hydration site anyway.

If you had experienced a trail run before, then you should not be surprised or bothered about that suggestion. And it should not also be the reason for you not to join a trail run.

Notice from some popular trail runs like the “TNF100” you’ll see runners are equipped with personal hydration pack even with the ample availability of water stations.

The Pinatubo trail is an open terrain track which can be unforgiving in terms of heat exposure, take note that running time in trail runs are almost doubled of that running time in pavements with the same distance, thus exposure to sun’s heat is longer. The more you need to be hydrated regularly.

If you like joining trail runs then you should at least consider investing on good hydration system which you can use for several runs. There are local brands which are of good quality but less expensive.

Fee for this run is not the cheapest but not also that expensive if you’ll consider the discounts they included and the quality of the singlet, plus if you were able to avail the free ride. I just wish that they will provide a finishers certificate.

BTW, Columbia is now offering a paid shuttle service for 500 bucks back-and-forth (which is sulit for that distance) via a third party travel service. Just check their FB page for details.

  19. When I browse to google map, barangay, sapang bato, Angeles City is in the East part of pinatubo, near to Clark Pampanga. There is a public jeepney transpo from the terminal of Philippine Rabbit going to the site. The problem is if the gun start is in 5am, most of the jeep are available at 6am :(

  20. I agree with sir boyzilla (comment # 59), as a runner we should be prepared all the times whether on trail or road. Dont expect too much, just enjoy running the trail.

  21. Is there camping available near the race start. I don’t fancy a night in a hotel off fields avenue before the event. Have entered the 25km and looking forward to this one.

  22. Columbia Eco Trail Run Pinatubo Newsflash: First 20 Free Bus Ride

Pick up Point: R.O.X (B1) Bonifacio High Street, Taguig
    Departure will be exactly 3:00am.

Bus will have Columbia branding for easy identification.

  23. @boyzilla- un first 20 runners na free ride ba is un first 20 who registered @ columbia stores? or first 20 runners who will come to ROX bonifacio high street?

  24. They announced availability of shuttle service, after weeks of registration. Anyway hoping and suggesting na next year a shuttle service will be available outright.

  25. ung shuttle service i think is from a third party. iniendorse lang ng organizer :) may slots pa daw po sa ibang stores. try to call them up :)

  26. @melmet, bus ride not included, i’ts a separate booking you have to make
