Dear Runners,

Due to the heavy rains, we will be postponing the REXONA RUN 2012 event to SEPTEMBER 23, Sunday still at the Mall of Asia grounds. We feel that due to the current calamity, it would be inappropriate to still push through with the event. We have taken into consideration that a lot of the runners may be living in affected areas, and that our route marshals are part of the AFP so they will be busy with relief operations.

Instead, we will be focusing our efforts on relief operations this weekend, particularly in Marikina. You are very much welcome to participate or help out in any way. More details will be posted soon.

5. On the “Name of your Relay Partner” page, enter info of your partner. Make sure to use the exact registered name of your partner.
6. Create a Relay Team Name and enter on the page
7. On the “Would you like to register another participant or checkout?” – choose “Another”
8. Enter info of the 2nd runner

    yakult was supposedly ‘supervised’ by patafa but ended up with a distance not equivalent to what was advertised. this is one example of ‘you get what you pay for’. venue isn’t the major contribution of cost

  4. May isang tao nagsabi na bakit hindi daw magpa-run sa mrt or lrt line. Saan tatakbo ang mga runners? Sa riles?. Hahahaha. Sige nga.

    Maluwag kasi ang mga kalsada na pinipiling venue ng mga organizers. Kung marami lang kalsada dito na maluwag at accessible sa mga runners eh madami ring venues.

    Next time sa SLEX or NLEX naman para maiba. Hahahaha :D

  11. P900 ang 21K individual. Therefore, expensive ang run na ‘to. Pero Runrio race ‘to, so most probably you’ll get your money’s worth.

  27. @oiRunner: wala pong 10K kasi merong 21K 2-man relay. Meaning 2 people po yung kasali and they will both run 10.5K each. So parang 10K na rin. If you have 16 runners for 10K, you will have 8 pairs sa 21K Relay. Hehehe. Diba? Ganun din naman po. :)

  32. 5k ang price 700 @ 21k ang price 900 individual po i2. Ung 21k relay 1600 po ung 2 persons. Mgkaiba ung bib design ng individual dun s relay n 21k. My display n s site ng runrio about s run n i2. Tlga disappointing cya kc sobrang mhal @ d mkamasa ung presyo. Bket d nla gayahin ung Milo Marathon mura ung price pangmasa p? Mgisip kau qng sasali p po kau bsta aq PASS muna d2 can afford d price eh. Gudluck n lng po.

  44. agree ako sau iamnoel. basta kmi tatakbo kami dito. pera namin pinambabayad namin kaya kung maghanap man kami finisher shirt, medal o ano pa man yan eh dahil kasama sa binayaran. di naman sya pinipilit kung ayaw nya sumali dito. cguro mas maganda kung umpisahan na nya i-organize naisip nya patakbo sa lrt o mrt wala naman cguro pipigil sa kanya.

  51. @Aly: I think dalawa. Considering that you will pay Php800 for 10.5km eh mukhang lugi naman kung di ka makakareceive ng medal. Meron naman yata both pero mas maliit kesa sa 21k solo. :)

  54. My Reasons not to join Rexona Run 2012:

    – Based on the design of the singlet, medal, and finisher’s shirt, I will be a walking, talking, breathing, running endorser of Rexona Men. Ang masaklap pa is they called the shirt “Finisher’s Shirt”. They should have called it “Rexona Men Shirt”.

    – I am required to pay Php900 to run, sweat, get tired, and also endorse their product. Diba dapat they should pay us instead for endorsing Rexona?

    – By just looking at the medal and the so-called Finisher’s Shirt, no one will know that you finished a 21K run. Unless you will turn the medal 180degrees and see the engraved “21K Finisher” text. The finisher’s shirt will not show anything except “Rexona Men” and that it came from Runrio and Powerade.

    – No charitable cause. No advocacy. Magugulat ka na lang na kapag marami ng nakapansin eh bigla na lang “This Run is for the benefit of EK EK EK Charity..”

    – I expected more from Runrio. Habang tumatagal at nagdadaan ang panahon eh mas lalong nagiging commercialized and profit-focused ang mga patakbo nila.

    – This run is clearly for the benefit of Rexona and their endorsement of its products.

    These are just my opinions. I dont think I have offended anyone so please kindly respect it. If you want to run here, please do. Its a matter of choice and I chose not to.

  57. I agree. Please include the 21km distance in the finisher’s shirt. I’m planning to make this my HM debut. It will be a good souvenir to get a finisher’s shirt that says the distance. As for the price, I’d still probably sign up. Runrio is a quality organization so I think they’ll more likely cover everything.

    i agree with most of your comments namely the finisher shirt without the text 21K finisher and the absence of event beneficiary. but we must accept that races are marketing events sponsored by interest groups who wants to promote their products/services. that is the plain truth and what we can do is just support those interest groups that we believe in.

    e.g. if you believe that nestle is a honest corporate citizen and a manufacturer of healthy products then join milo marathon.

  60. Baka ako lang siguro ang gusto na plain lang ang finisher shirt…

    Favorite finisher shirt ko eh yung timex 2009 ko, plain na run rio lang na tech shirt… hanggang ngayon sinusuot ko pa sya.
    Plain white na may logo lang ng run rio sa harap. Honestly, ayaw ko yung merong mga nakalagay na 42, 32, 21 finisher sa likod… obvious naman na natapos yung distance at kaya may shirt.

    i suggest one to review the races since 2010. not just coming from runrio but also from other organizers as well. rexona has been a staple event and drawn a lot of crowd. this is one of the many races that i look forward to every year

    good point. last year runrio slated their so-called “run for love” which focuses on races with beneficiaries. i hope many of us supported that. i did. heck i already missing the bottle run launched in 2010. hindi na naulit

    to address the point, 2011 had Field of Dreams in Smokey Mountain and Gawad Kalinga as beneficiaries. i’m not aware if there’s any for this year. i will ask

  65. kasi kaming dalawa ng wife ko sasali sa relay, kasi Couple run kami dito kung sakali.. kasi wala kaming natakbuhan nung july 1, 2012 anniversary namin kaya dito nalang kami sa Relay run ng Rexona tatakbo for our anniversary run.. hope na makasali kami.. pero tingin ko parehas kaming merong medal at finisher shirt diba…

  67. The singlet is nice, the finisher’s shirt is also nice by the same time the medal also. Pero medyo mahal T_T baka pwedeng babaan ng 100-150 pesos in each race category.

    well considering a difference of just P200 between rexona 21K (P900) versus regent 16K (700) the former has a competitive advantage against the latter such as a longer route and
    finisher shirt. for the finisher loot bag it depends on whether runners are looking for snacks or deodorant. :-)

    this is just a personal opinion and not meant to promote rexona run.

  80. hmm.. dami reklamo sa presyo ng rexona ah.

    rexona 900Php, 21Km = 42.85Php /Km
    regent 700Php, 16Km = 43.75Php /Km

    kung sa kilometro lang ang paguusapan, obvious na mas mura ang rexona.

    Marami talaga nakafocus sa 700 vs 900 pero hindi naman na consider na mas malayo yung sa Rexona.

    Disclaimer though, I run for the Kms not for the finisher’s kit, freebies etc.

    Pero syempre, wala pa rin tatalo sa Milo (11 pesos per Km sa 42k), Earth Run 2012 (16 pesos) at yung abnormal na Hyundai (bawal division by zero wehehehe)

    if you’re running for “KM” you don’t have to pay naman. you can go out and run anywhere gang makalayo ka ng takbo.

    and if you’re comparing price base sa KM, bat di mo din ipag compare ung price per KM ng lower distances hindi lang ung 21km na P900 vs 16km na P700. like ung 5km nito vs dun sa isa :)

    ang masasabi ko lang.. though “sulit” nga siguro ang run na to dahil sa mga matatanggap na freebies after the run.. still, hindi parin para sa lahat ang run na to kasi hindi maka masa ang presyo.

    most run events ngayon ay pricey na at hindi ito nakakatulong na ma-encourage ang mga baguhan sa sport ng pagtakbo :)

  88. @iamnoel @mark I think you both got it wrong. Regent have Finisher shirt with 16K marking, a medal (ALL 5k,10k and 16k will get), a gift pack (after the run) and the free canister with not only snacks but also sponge cakes and coffee (upon registration).

    I’m from the marketing field and I can see how much are we gonna pay for the brand here instead of the run (we are actually paying to be their human promos/billboards unlike being proud that we’ve ran that long :p) and the souvenirs that we’ll be getting afterwards.

    Both of course want publicity for their brand but I can see that my payment (if ever for regent) will go to Philippine Red Cross. it’s rainy season now and expect disasters again. my money will be used for that.

    But at the end of the day, it’s our decision and preference that’ll prevail. :) run for the satisfaction that you’ve joined a runrio event or run for fun and freebies. :) think smart!

  92. @jepoy – pano mo nalamang low quality yung singlet ng iba? hinawakan mo na ba and tinrace mo kung saan galing yung tela?

    again, we are not forced to join any run. pero it doesn’t mean na kelangan manira. I hope that gets into your system as well as to the future commentators.

    My issue naman is I’m kinda hesitant on the “Rexona Men” label sa singlet. Though yun yung brand na pinu-push nila. As they are general on the name “Rexona Run 2012”, I hope kahit “Rexona Run” na lang nakalagay. Or else change the run name as “Rexona Men Run”. But obviously, they can’t narrow that down, sayang ang exposure ng rexona as a whole.

    yes sir, I run everywhere kahit bandit (bad bad). Naniniwala ako na running is and should be free.

    I treat paid 21k races as tempo runs… at least hindi ko na iisipin ang hydration / secure / safe na yung route. Hirap lang talaga ako bumilis kung hindi race… daming iniisip. Wala naman akong taga abot ng powerade.. hehehe kaya bayad na lang ng race pa minsan minsan.

    BTW, I do not join *ALL* races… magastos kaya. sumasali lang ako kung may kailangan lang pag ensayuhan… yung rexona, sakto para sa tacloban sa aug 18.

    kaya ko naman nasabi eh malaki kasi yung focus na mahal yung 900 para sa 21k. Pero syempre, mas mahal talaga ang rexona kung 5k ang tatakbuhin…

    kaso yung 21k ang kailangan kong itakbo eh. Kaso wala sa regent.

    BTW, hindi ako rin interested sa loot / shirt / medal etc… basta mabigyan lang ng magandang course na ang iisipin ko na lang eh tumakbo. wehehehe

    Hindi ako tumatakbo ng event dahil runrio… I also run small races / provincial races. Basta ang importante eh magkaprovide sila ng magandang at safe na run.

    Kaya ko napili ang rexona, eh dahil 21k sya at sakto pang ensayo para sa tacloban.

    Kung gusto ko naman tumakbo para sa cause o charity … hindi na lang ako mag reg… directly na lang i-donate sa charity of choice yung pera para walang bawas.

    Now walking billboards… that is if you wear the finisher shirt. I usually donate the unused singlets / finisher shirts to those in need. Buti na lang at merong box ng caritas sa lobby ng tinitigilan namin. Ayun doon ko nilagay lahat ng mga naipon ko shirts / singlets na hindi ko naman nagamit. Actually mas gusto ko nga kung pwedeng bib na lang ang bilhin… kahit less 50 o 100 sa reg fee. Yung medal baka makabawas din ng at least 50 pesos.

    May kanya kanya tayong rason para tumakbo. Sa akin, bonus lang ang finisher’s shirt o medal o loot bag… Hindi ito factor para piliin ko ang isang patakbo sa iba.
