  1. yeah that’s right @ mayhem. Runners did a lot of hard works to run. Then, even freebies PAHIHIRAPAN p rin ang runners or his/her representative to get those???Oks lang un medal, sling bag & finishers T-shirt (21k) that you will get @ the finish line. But those things @ the Race Expo, I doubt huh………..They might say out of stocks na so claim na lang some other day hahhahahha……..
It’s my opinion only. PEACE TO ALL:)

  2. @roel & @barefootdaves, I’m one of them to be in the Phils. b4 June 17 hahhaha.

    I love running:) Yahoooooo…………

Runrio/Unilab, please do something for the runners not to feel that they/we are fooled and to keep patronizing your very popular race events & schedules.

    GOD BLESS US ALL.

  3. well said @takbo-lang-ng-takbo.
Me too applied already my vacation to join running events in philippines my philippines:)
kita-kitz fellow runners. Stay fit & RUN SAFE.

  4. after finishing RU1 21K im wondering what will the difference of RU2 21K. what changes will runrio implement to make RU2 21K better than RU1 21K? perhaps different singlet and/or different route?

  5. @Solo Runner: okay and that is a point better than no changes at all. but the finisher medal is the same except for the race date and finisher shirt is the same except for the color. it will be nice if runrio add something new to RU2 21K so as not to make it a redundant race. im keeping my fingers crossed. :-)

  6. From Runrio’s FB page: “Hello everyone. There is no final advise yet on how kits can be claimed if you were unable to make it to the EXPO. But surely, RunRio will be providing an option for this to ensure everyone who registered to participate in this race can claim their kits and be there on race day.”

  7. @pacer,

I personally would have preferred the same route as RU1. In that way, people who have run RU1 can really claim an improvement if they run RU2 faster.

  8. @pacer
Anong no changes?

  10. @takbo-lang-ng-takbo

“Runrio/Unilab, please do something for the runners not to feel that they/we are fooled and to keep patronizing your very popular race events & schedules”

    and your suggestion is?

  11. @hml

“di na matutupad ang ang 21k run ko dahil masyadong mahal… hahahaha sasabayan ko na lang kayo at oorasan sarili ko para makatipid…. hahahahaha”

    as bandit?!?

  12. @Wakashik

“sana hindi magkaubusan nung belt bag if ever and hindi pahirapan ang pag CLAIM sa expo”

lets give them the benefit of the doubt. so far they’ve already pulled it off during Nike 2011 and KOTR 2011 race kit distribution

  13. @passionista

“Me too applied already my vacation to join running events in philippines my philippines:)”

i hope to see more and more people dropping in just to participate for our races =)

  14. @Laine

“wow ru2 is here…wala pa nga yung Finisher shirt ko ng Ru1”

so sorry to hear this. i heard from Unilab that they intend to set up a booth on race day for RU1 claimants. though i wish they’d do the same as well during the expo

  15. @Solo Runner

“I personally would have preferred the same route as RU1. In that way, people who have run RU1 can really claim an improvement if they run RU2 faster”

i agree on this as well. on the logistics/planning side, its best to leverage on a route that has been used previously. instead of experimenting on a new one and cause more headache on us runners

if some find it boring then simply skip RU2 and find another race that falls on the same weekend. as for me, this is a good route simulation especially to those who will be running at milo elims (42km)

    time/effort/money vs. what???

I personally support RunRio’s vision too. But I just don’t think the extra trip is worth it and therefore should be optional.

  17. Kung same route lang ang RU2 21k, wala pong masasabing half-way turning point kasi di babalik sa starting point yung route. From BGC to MOA yung route.

  18. @ barefootdaves,

My suggestion is, organizer(s) must to make way for the runners to ease the burdens of claiming the so called “giveaways or freebies”. If Runrio/Unilab did it well in all RU Runs in 2011 for the distribution of the same, why not do the same as well in all RU Runs this 2012? Not to mention some negative feedback I’ve read from RU1 just recently :(
    That’s all comrade barefootdaves.
    PEACE always to ALL…

    GOD BLESS.

  19. hope that all runners will improve our time and surpass the time target that we set…

  20. @takbo-lang-ng-takbo

to be honest, i didn’t see it that way when i learned about the race expo. i guess having been exposed to both local and international races ‘swayed’ my views on such

either such innovations are too early to be introduced here in Manila or the running community isn’t ‘mature’ enough for these type of evolution in our local races

maybe there’s a win-win situation where both parties will be happy. as of the moment, i couldn’t think of anything very specific
    _____________________________________

“Not to mention some negative feedback I’ve read from RU1 just recently”

what were those? the finishers kit fiasco? Coach Rio already fired the related personnel. to be honest, i pity those people who lost their jobs

if you’ve participated in the 2010 and 2011 edition, you’ll come into an understanding that this is a very minor kink in his very successful race events

disclaimer: i am in no way connected to Coach Rio or any of his team. i am simply an observer in the running boom in our country

  21. Well, like always, madaming nagrrant pero pag nakapag-attend na sila nung expo at RU2, mawawala lahat ang mga naging rantings nila at maiintindihan nila finally bakit naging ganun ang mga bagay-bagay.

It’s the same old banana. All rants tapos kakainin din nila ang sinabi nila. Seriously, have Run United ever let you down? Sure, may mga minor glitches pero overall, wasn’t the RU experience worth it?

  22. just a comment on the comment regarding ‘patay’ yung mga threads dun sa kabilang site:

I think ‘patay’ almost yung threads there because before you can post e kailangan mo gumawa ng account with the forum..compared here…you just type in a name & an email & FIRE_AWAY…by the same token kaya more prone to trolling I think tong site na to is because of what I mentioned.

You cannot even click here on a commenter/poster & cross-reference his other comments to see if this guy/girl is just plain trolling or have been a contributing member kung worthy replyan yung post.

Maybe the site owners should look into this.

    Peace to all.YNWA.

  23. same sentiments here as well

“You cannot even click here on a commenter/poster & cross-reference his other comments to see if this guy/girl is just plain trolling or have been a contributing member kung worthy replyan yung post”

  24. +1 din ako. I think iisang tao lang yang si jc,meg, chuva at cloudshocked. jc and meg popped up at the same time chuva was stirring up trouble about walkathoners and jeffpoblete while cloudshocked’s replies and character clues had some very uncanny similarities with chuva in other threads. Ingat lang tayo. I’m sure “they’re” still around but using different aliases trying to attack people like the attention-hungry beki that he is.

  25. guys panu po training nyo for the 21k run? is 2 months with 5 times a week training before the race is enough? tnx!

  26. to minimize if not eliminate being fooled i just select worth reading comments regarding races such as schedule, freebies and alike that we can use as an advance information but we validate in case we are doubtful.

i do not give much credence to personal opinion and experiences as most of it these can be treated as an isolated case and cannot be applied to the general running population.

God Bless!

  28. i think that cut-off time is just a hearsay to date… wala naman kasing announcement sa official site ng runrio at unilab…

@slowrunnersimanang kindly post the link kung saan nyo po nakita ang cut-off time for 21k just to shed light sa post nyo

  29. yes chismis or hearsay lang po ang cut off time for 21K, unless that info comes from RunRio and ULAH (Unilab Health).

updates are regularly posted from these 2 main sites.

  30. @slowrunnersimanang:

for the record im in favor of cut-off time as it will forced runners to train hard for the coveted finsher medal. please post your cut-off time information source to prove that such is true and verifiable.

  31. e pano po yung mga di nkatakbo ng RU1 ? a piece of the puzzle prin ba ang makukuha or iba ang medal ng di tumakbo ng RU1 ?

  32. @gary_m re: cut off time, i heard it from the coach sa ULAH running clinic

@pacer you are right runners have to train hard for the coveted finisher medal(2nd piece of the puzzle)i was worried baka di ko kaya kasi may cut off time na.coach sa ULAH running clinic assured me not to worry kasi kaya ang 21k cut off time for a slow runner like me…mag pa register na lang daw sa RU2 para mka join sa training sa ULAH running clinic.

  33. I don’t think magkakaron ng cut-off time yung RU series this year. Sobrang maiiba yung atmosphere pag ganun. Next year, siguro pwede pa.

    that’s just me…

  34. ang mahal na nga ng registration gusto nyo may cutoff time.last year milo hinawakan ni rio.mura lang ang registration kahit may cutoff time

  35. Merong cut-off time (sort of).

Heard this from a runrio coach. Unofficial but I think it’s reliable enough.

  36. “kalbo said on May 12th, 2012 at 12:46 am
    cut off time…feeling international marathon”

Di ba it’s a good sign na tumataas ang standards ng marathon dito sa pinas?

  37. I’m against cut-off time if its 4 hours after gunstart. May mga inspirational runners na affected pag ganun like overweight and obese and runners who have other health issues and are trying to overcome their own limitations and hurdles to finish the 21k. There are even people who want to get off their maintenance medicine through running. Ako mismo may history of asthma and arrhythmia and I’m just shooting for a sub 3-hour finish (almost there) Running is not just for the fit but also for those who want to get fit but are facing a more challenging road ahead than most.

  38. usually coach rio is flexible on such cutoff times. even when asked personally, no defined answer is given. as he and unilab wants everyone to have fun. but there got to be some limit to the road closure. you don’t expect the roads to be open for so long

one of the many reasons for the “bgc to moa” route is to ease up the traffic congestion in makati as early as possible. imagine if we utilize the old route which basically impairs traffic flow of makati for at least 3hrs or so. then imagine yourself being behind the wheel and stuck for many many hours

even jaymie’s tbrdm has a cutoff and to think that her route is on a private road. mayroon pa rin na-sweep. this is also for the safety of everyone. can’t imagine anyone running under our extreme weather. i myself can’t stand the sun when it hits 8am

i hope we can all be reasonable. nobody wants another case of heatstroke or any heat-related illnesses. it is a 2-way responsibility. organizers gives us their best in every possible way. participants/runners must sensibly train enough for the distance

when a previously held fun run opened up their 16k route to motorists after 2 hours, i didn’t see so much debate about it. how come? kapag runrio race dapat exclusive ang kalsada sa runners?

  40. BTW, if you pre-registered for all Run United runs (trilogy + marathon), then you may have to re-register and re-input all your info AGAIN. No need to pay again. They said that the data got corrupted so all the info got lost.

I found this out when I checked the Runrio site and discovered that my name wasn’t in the list of 21K runners. GROAN.

  41. tama lang siguro na may cutoff time.
dapat gawin nating motivation un e. hehe
tska ang 4 hours sa 21k ay ok na.
kung titingin kayo ng iba ibang 21k race results out of hundreds na tumatakbo mga dalawa o tatlo lang ang umaabot ng 4 hours.

  42. first time ko mag join ng 21K na magkaiba start & finish venue.

may shuttle ba from MOA to BGC para sa may mga dalang sasakyan?

kung meron man, what time alis ng shuttle from MOA to BGC?

    TIA

  43. im in favor for cut-off time during races but 4-hour for 21K? that is as good as no cut-off time at all considering that all can make it within 4-hours. just an opinion and not meant to be mean to newbies.

  44. For those who registered early (online), what should we bring in the Race Expo as proof that we’re already registered in order to claim our race kits? Thanks.

  45. @Haaayzzz As per runrio.com..

“Kindly print and present your confirmation e-mail to claim your Race Kits at the Expo.”

  46. I never received a confirmation email nor a confirmation text. I made sure I got it right when I registered. what now?

  47. @pong pagong

The most logical thing to do at this point are:

    1. Call runrio or riovanna and tell them that you never received a confirmation email.

    2. Provide screenshots when you registered on their site. When i do online registrations I always screenshot the final step confirming I have registered..if you didn’t do this…then do number 1 and ask if you can retrieve your information on their site.

    3. Try to think what could have gone wrong..maybe you put a wrong email during the registration..wrong email as in you misspell your email add….if you can retrieve those info on their site…do so.

    4. Check the runrio site. They have posted the list of confirmed participants. If you have seen your name on that list, then maybe there was a glitch in their system that’s why you never received an email or no. 3. But again, you need to call their attention about this.

    5. If you are too lazy to do no 1-4, go to runrio’s FB page and inform them of your problem. I noticed that they pretty much answer every query on their FB page.

    6. If you used a credit card, then most likely that transaction will be reflected on your monthly statement bill which you can use as an evidence that you really registered the right way. Important thing is to call them and inform them you dont have the confirmation email.

    7. You can wait until June 13 for that confirmation email to come or wait until the expo to raised your concern if you don’t want to go through all the trouble but that’s a bit risky because if indeed your registration failed..you’ll run out of slot. And the best thing they can do is give you a refund.

    So goodluck man.

  48. As per Runrio site..

For in-store registrants, keep your registration receipts for automated registration and claim stubs for manual registration. You need to present both to claim your Race Kits at the Expo. For online registrants, kindly print and present your confirmation e-mail to claim your Race Kits at the Expo.

  49. @pong pagong,

Have you checked your spam folder?

In my experience, after doing an online registration, I immediately get a confirmation email. Typically its from Bazusports . . .

  50. If you want to register fast and accurate singlet sizes you can go to Unilab Gym in Mandaluyong particularly those who are near in that area. The registration there is very smooth walang masyadong nagpaparegister. It is open Wednesday-friday 9-4:30pm. And for those who are near Greenhills you can register at Bonaventure Plaza Basement 1, Ortigas Ave., just in front of Greenhills, San Juan and it just beside Shell Gasoline station. It is open from Monday-Tuesday 9-4:30pm.

  51. @Jacob
Kakaregister ko lang kahapon sa Unilab gym sabi nila 4000+ na ng 21k slots ang nakuha out of a total of 5000. So hurry up po!

  52. we just registered at Tobys MOA pero meduim & above na lang ang size ng singlet! personnel at Tobys gave me their number para in case may XS & S na singlet size, pwede nng magpapalit! please help! too big tlga po sa akin at sa friend ko ang medium size na singlet.

  53. OMG! 4,000 slots for 21K? well expect crowded route based on my RU1 experience. just manage your expectations so you wont be disappointed.

  54. In order to ensure timely re-opening of roads to normal traffic, and help ensure the safety of the participants, the race organizer will deploy a vehicle to pickup all remaining runners on the race route starting at 830am. By this time, all participants are encouraged to stop running and board the official vehicle. They are automatically disqualified and will be taken directly to the finish venue.

    Source: https://runrio.com/2012/05/2012-run-united-2-frequently-asked-questions/

  55. @pacer

    @vcsi
thanks po for the update.

  56. Really worried, I have been out of training the last couple of weeks (in-and-out of illness) and if I try to go for LSD sure enough I’ll finish longer than 3 hrs. Baka masama ako sa pick-up sweepers sa kalsada after 4 hrs.

    Scarey…

Pero kung ganung kadami registrants this time around, grabe crowd nyan sa kalsada. Diba dapat me konting buffer time pa given, baka maipit yung mga runners sa sea of people?? Dapat me strategy… Especially the slow runners.

  57. sorry for my comment kas hindi naman ako kasali pero yun post ng runrio (389) parang mas priority pa yun traffic kesa sa mga runners or im just being too sensitive? im still trying to research if sweeper vehicles are being used sa half sa states since gusto ng organizers na intl yun feel ng race.just my 25 cents.

  58. @JP:

    susmaryosep! 21K = 5,000 runners! RU1 21K was 4,000 runners and it was already elbow-to-elbow among runners.

count me out this time as i do not want to be part of this brisk walking este running event.

  59. @pacer
ikaw naman, everyone was still running even in the thickest concentration of runners, I saw it myself. I didn’t bump into anyone myself in RU1 in spite of being slightly behind the main pack of runners.

Careful, you’re starting to sound like ryan anthony chuva lol

  60. @jujjay

the roads will be open for 4 hours for the half-marathon participants. do you suggest to keep it open a bit longer?

hope we can also fill in the shoes of the motorists as well. meron ba sa atin gusto maipit sa kalsada ng mahigit na 4 oras?

and i hope the motorists will do the same as well for us who pound the pavement in the wee hours. mahirap na nga tumakbo tapos mabubusinahan ka pa *not unless its an emergency*
