  1. I am so frusssstraaaated! No enough water for the runners!

Wake up DLSU!! If you’re planning to have this event next year then make it better and have it well organized – plan it well!

    Okies?

  2. HAHAHA! sorry pero fail talga sya for me :|
kaunti kasi ng hydration stations, tapos kulang pa ung supplies ng tubig.. im not surprised kung merong nde nkainom the whole 10k or 21k..

and the route it was chaotic.. sumabay sa red cross,, nkakasira ng ulo. haha

credits na lang for the effort in organizing this event and making it happen.

nde nga lang tlga ganun ka organize.

  3. I ran for Red Cross since I am a public school teacher in Caloocan. Aside from it is free, we are all obliged. I am emphatic for all you guys on how chaotic your route was, specially passing our crowd at Quirino Ave. corner Roxas Blvd. As a runner (though I am not a part of your run) I know how you feel while passing that huge crowd. I saw many runners from this event keep pushing themselves just to get off our crowd. Very frustrating indeed.

    Run safe!

  4. Very, very dissapointed!! may overlap pala sa redcross run dun palang sira na pace isa ako sa 21k runners na d nkainum ng tubig! buti nalang may hydration belt ako! kng wla malanang tumirik nko sa daan hays i was really expecting more from that hays… sana maayus nla toh grrr pero ganda nmn ng medal lol

  5. There were so many issues with the run, the least of which was a late gun start and some of the worst being:

    1. The route collided with the waiting area for the Red Cross Million Volunteer run. There was very little space to run in and many of the participants in the said run did not give way. Some of my friends who joined the Animo Run got lost and I’m sure the time of a LOT of people suffered because of the human traffic.
    2. There was little to no water. In retrospect, I understand that the organizers might not have wanted to put up hydration stations in the waiting are of the Million Volunteer run in fear that runners from a different run will consume the allotted hydration. Still, the route of another run, the ENT run, also collided with the Animo Run’s route and they still had hydration stations in the waiting area. The first hydration station I encountered was at 5k of my 10k route. The station only had one small table and had barely any water left. (There was no sports drink. at all.) By the time the last of the 10k and the first of the 21k reached that point, there was no more water. The next water station was 2.5k away but I heard that the water ran out pretty fast.
    3. There were no medical stations. There was only one ambulance located near the starting/finishing point. A lot of the runners suffered cramps at the highway. I’m sure that many runners have also struggled with dehydration because of the lack of hydration (see #2). If a runner suddenly needed medical attention, there would have been no way to alert the medics immediately.
    4. There were barely any route markers. The route is pretty simple (at least for the 3k, 5k and the 10k). Still, given that the route collides with the route of two other runs, more route markers would have been very helpful and might have prevented some of the runners who got a bit lost.

Overall, I’m paying for the same price as some of the most anticipated and organized runs in the metro and yet, the quality is extremely poor. I have ran runs with cheaper registration fees but were quite organized and really worth the money. Runners aren’t expecting perfection, especially considering that the organizers aren’t professional ones. Still, runners expect some quality. It’s especially frustrating that they have missed fundamental things that are NEEDED in a run (read, ample hydration and medical stations). And to think the organizers are runners themselves.

  6. Main prob was the hydration stations. Then when i reached 5K, they provided rockstar canned juice which i cannot drink coz i need to finish it kc di n pedeng isara ulit at tatapon lng pgbinuksan mo n.

Question: where can we see the result?

  7. WORST fun run ever!!! The whole stretch of 21k walang water… May red cross event pa that u need to pass thru papunta at pabalik..

  8. I am very disappointed with the outcome of this event. I only had one vendo cup of water and a can of rockstar punch drink throughout that terrible 21k run! I was lucky enough to have brought my own hydration which helped me in these helpless event. Wow coming from DLSU pa naman…and the sponsors…what bad publicity!

  9. By far the worst running event I have ever attended. And I have attended a lot.

Hydration was next to non-existent. The 21K and 10K runners had to squeeze their way through the huge crowd of Red Cross runners. No marshals. Late start. Unenthusiastic emcee. Crowded pre-race/post-race area. All this with a high registration fee.

  11. Disappointing indeed. The 1st hydration station is located at 5k. Then there was the red cross crowd that they failed to control but for me it’s more of the red cross organizer’s fault. Yung mga volunteers walang discipline imo. All in all, had fun because this is my 1st 10k run. Hopefully di fail ang race results. Animo La Salle!

    I am very disappointed…………..

  13. This is my first 21k run and it’s D-I-S-appointing. I opt for this run thinking that this will better QCIM since; for crying out loud, it’s a La Salle organized run. Big mistake! Limited hydration stations, no nutrition stations, late gun start, “walk-athon” at one part of the course, lack of marshals–total disappointment.

Good thing they live to their promise for 21k finishers medal and finishers shirt. Still, these are not reasons enough for me to say that “The event is a success and I will definitely join again next year!”. Lots of improvement needs to be done. You don’t have to look that far, just start with the basics.

  14. What a joke! E yung inyo? 9th na! Tapos ganito?!

  15. ADBR (ADMU) vs Animo Run (DLSU)..
Rivalry, kung gaano ka-Unorganized yung isa dapat parehas sila o mas higit pa, Ayaw patalo.. haha.

    i ran 21km:
1st water station @ blue wave area 4k

2nd water station along roxas blvd. 8k

    Energy drink @ 10k

3rd water station @ san juan de dios 14k

    last was @ 20k …

    * bumili pa ko ng sarili kong tubig.

  16. Fun was not evident in the run! It’s unfortunate that it was held simultaneous with another run, but with proper coordination it could have been better. Definitely my last Animo Run!

  17. wala nga pakialam mga marshalls!! hahah at walang checkpoint markers to make sure all runners would go through the route! honesty na lang tlga eh.. muntik na na din tlga ako mag shortcut nkakatamad na kasi…
    haha

    sarap mag rant

  18. no proper coordination with the marshal nakatunganga lng sila na dapat nag gaguide sa mga runners.. at salamat nga pala sa mga vendor ng mineral water kung wla sila marami ng nag collapse..at eto pa.!!! ang daming nagshort cut honesty na lng talaga..

  19. grabi ang run na to.! may balak ba kaung patayin mga runners nyo! daming hassle. walang hydration station. at kung meron man pag dumaan ka wala na water na available, ung iba tuloy napilitan bumili ng water sa mga convenience store. tapos hassle pa yung red cross ayaw mag pa daan. ano ba to, parang hindi pinag isipan. lucky for me i had my hydration belt, ung pinsan ko halos himatayin na sa uhaw the whole 21k hindi daw sya nakainom. tapos kulang din sa mga martials dami ang nag shortcut! lalo na sa redcross na part. yung iba bumalik na agad hindi na tumuloy kaya lang naman siguro nila ginawa yun because sobrang kulang sa supply ng water. i just hope na maayos nyo to the next time na mag pa fun run ulit kayo. kawawa yung mga runners sumisigaw na ng TUBIG!. im just concerned don sa iba. kawawa talaga. lalo na yung isang girl na pinilit tapusin yung run i think its more or less 2km left, halos mamatay na parang lasing na mag lakad, if it wasn’t for her friend baka nasagasaan na sya ng taxi. i am really disappointed sa run na ito, to think DLSU ang nag organize. hay!

Hwag na kayong magbalak ng 10th year dahil hanggang year 9 nalang kayo. Sirang-sira ang kredibilidad ng Animo Running Club. Sayang! Tsk.tsk.tsk. Badtrip.

  21. I was one of those people who took a shortcut sa 21k route. Maganda yung pace ng first 10k ko, but I can keep that pace for 11 more kilometers kung walang tubig at nasira na ang mood ng takbo ko nung nag-singitan na sa crowd ng red cross, Not to mention na walang pake ang mga marshals sa mga runners lalo na nung papunta na sa coastal.

I got my finisher’s medal and shirt, but I will never wear those. kinuha ko lang main because I paid P650(-100 sa timing chip)for an unorganized run.

  22. reasons not to join animo run again

    marshalls are not visible
yung rockstar na drink, parang na laos na artista
    wala man lang markings

they did not start on time

  23. tama na naman ako sa pagpili
dati d ako nag join ng MIM
    dahil lage na popospone,
    at di nga maganda kinalabasan.
ngayon mas pinili ko QCIM kht na
    madaming nega comments last yr.
    successful naman sa QCIM,
    di sila nagkulang sa hydration.
muntik na ko mag animo eh!

next time kung san ako sasali dun kayo sumali!

  24. I expected better from an event organized by a running club.

Running out of water for 21K participants for the entirety of the race is unacceptable. Very poor coordination. Cheering squad aside, almost everything else is a disappointment.

    Grade: 3/10

  26. What a morning that was, but I’d like to give the organizers a grade of 2.5 for their effort. However, if they’d want to continue with another Animo run next year, they should really do more to improve in organizing the race.

That part of Roxas Blvd with the start line of Red Cross Run was terrible, especially if you’re trying to set a PR time. Yung papunta pa lang medyo okay pa, at least they were giving way despite jeering at the runners (not helpful at all). But nung pabalik na, para ka nang nakipag-sikskan sa MRT pag last trip. That was quite stressful! Better coordination should have been done with the organizers of the other event para at least man lang magawan siya ng paraan. A major change in route, even right before the race would have been appreciated.

There was an apparent lack of hydration stations, biruin mo yun…of the 10k I ran, isa lang ang hydration station na nakita ko, and I think that was after the 5th km already…glad I brought my own sports drink. Ideally they should have placed 1 hydration station every 2 – 2.5 km, and if they’re holding longer distance races (10km and above), dapat may sports drinks na rin.

Hopefully things become better for next year. I will still join next year’s event, because I love my Alma Mater and the cause that they support. I hope the organizers take some good pointers from today’s race. :)

  27. DLSU running club(the event organizer), consider the participants comments probably this was the most terrible running event we ever had this year (running 21K with only one hydration station? Rockstar n di malamig agawan pa? Nagtyaga na lang sa yelo sipping?), sana ‘di na to maulit kung gusto pa ninyong magkaroon ng 10th Animo Run next year, consider our comments as constructive criticism. anyway thanks to the fin. medals and shirts.

  28. @CXG: Merong finisher’s shirt.

disappointed ako ng bonggang bongga..we are not going to support both of you anymore!! :(((

  32. Problems met of 21K runner, no water! Sa US embassy lang nakatikim ng tubig. All throughout the route.
We suport this activity whatever the cause. Sorry to say THIS iS MY WORST RUN!

  33. WALANG KWENTA! sorry pero totoo. first time ko tumakbo ng 21k na WALANG TUBIG! damn. buti umabot pa to ng 9th run?!

    FAIL! 1 rating!

  34. We understand that this run supports a cause (the main reason why I joined in the first place), but must the organizers scrimp on everything? I was one of the lucky few who got a bottle of Viva mineral water, and I remember a Marshall looking at me and saying, “Magtipid sa tubig” as someone was pouring water into those white paper cups on the way back.

When we crossed the Red Cross runners, I knew it was already a disaster. I can last without water for a few more kilometers, but having to negotiate my way towards people who don’t seem to care that there was another race going on was just a nightmare.

Someone I knew in the race only ran 10k even though she was registered for the 21k route, and she still got a medal and a shirt.

What happened to the markers? It doesn’t help at all that we don’t know how far we have gone, or how much farther to expect.

I wish I ran the QCIM instead. I’ll never run such a sham race again.

  35. I enjoyed this first race of mine!

  37. in be half of baroq runners:

and ung finisher shirt bakit ganun hindi dry fit 100% cotton tsk..

    syang

  38. guys gusto nila tayong patayin . hahahaha , good thing umulan .
YOU BROUGHT A BIG SHAME ON A HIGH REPUTED SCHOOL .

  39. Ndi ako tumakbo pero based sa mga nabasa ko, fail. grabe naman to kung walang tubig sa 21k runners. kakatakot sumali dito next year… baka naman ndi related ung greentenial dito.or damay damay na. tsk tsk tsk. ateneo then lasalle. what’s next?

  40. Hehehe, panalo to… panalo sa kapalpakan!!.. buti na lang me nagtitinda ng mineral water along the way to save our ass.. Way way off commpared to other 2 grenntenial runs (DLSU din) i had joined on the same year.. Super failed!! Some of the runners joined to this event for their preparation for the Milo Marathon qualifiers but yet don’t help them at all in pulling up their best time before the full mary. Im not sure why there is no barcode reader along the turning point or even a baller or something since we are wearing a chip? (dami kaya pedeng mandaya!! and I saw some. ;-(..)Hayyyzzz.. not a good year ender run event from you!! I was thingking if this is your first time or 9th time since you’re celebrating 9th animo? hehehe Sabagay, with this level of organizing event mukhang di na kayo aabot ng pang 2nd hehehe..LOL ;-)

  41. ANIMO DEATH MARCH RUN!!! WOOOW!!!!

Sa organizers, it would’ve been braver on your part to have postponed the event kung hindi naman pala properly coordinated rather than push through with it at the expense of your supporters. Worst, it seems unapologetic pa sila.

Big waste of time, money and energy. Bad omen na yung cheap singlets… I should’ve known.

To the organizers, makatulog sana kayo ng mahimbing tonight.

  42. salamat sa gatas sa finish line un lang ang nainom ko..and i agree worst run..mas ok pa ung pasig madaming tubig..hehehe peace!

  43. Ano ba na mang takbo to! Kulang na lng patayin nyo ung my fellow runners especially 21k. From the start up to finish line no hydration water. Ang sama pa nito ni pera. Bottle, wala ko dala i was expecting na may water station.very dissapointed Running club kau alam nyo importante ung water kahit man lng ice tubig nagprovide kau.d biro tinakbo namin…… I will never never to join ur event. What a bad experience. Narciso Erguiza.

  44. I joined the 8th edition of this run last year and this year’s was really really bad. Very boring emcees. No water stations. No marshals nor checkpoint bracelets to avoid cheating. The singlet design was awful, too small openings for the arms and neck.

I hope the 10th edition would be a lot better.

  45. slomo runner so disappointed! kahit alumni ako ng LSGH, nahihiya ako sana pala nag QCIM nlang ako..

1st no hydration station! take note walang basong nakakalat means walang tubig haha nice! two thumbs up down!..

2nd no medical teams! i saw a runner tumirik sa flyover i have to stop to check his condition…

3rd conflict sa redcross runners walang marshalls to clear the ways of la salle runners..

  46. to clear things up, this is a run organized by the DLSU running club and not DLSU mismo, i think students lang ng DLSU mga yan. yes the event was very poor. kung wala lang incentives sa class namin sa DLSU d na ako tumakbo. hahahahaha gnito naman every year and ANIMO RUN!

  47. Much has been said about the fun run and i agree that it was not organized considering its the 9th run. I think the organizers has to sit down and make a post event evaluation.I am a beginner joing the fun run and I also organize fun run events. here are my suggestion for your future events like this:
    1. Pls ask help from running teams to help you in the technical aspect and manpower. I believe there are a lot of alumni that are active in running clubs. I was talking to a lot of participants after the run and there were a few marshals and some runners had a short cut: also mga walang signages. While preparing for the run there were tarpaulins of route map but were not posted properly. I was just in the road folded and I was just curious what the content was. Manpower kulang na kulang.
    2. The table of the water station is so small at nauubusan ng available cups with water.
    3. There was no warm up exercise. I arrive 3:30 am from laguna and the stage was dark at ang feeling ko parang kulang sa preparation. There was no opening ceremonies.
    4. I am connected with three de La salle schools in the south and I didnt saw any poster about the event. i juat knew it thru takbo.ph.
If you are palnning a 10th Animo Fun Run pls make it a well orgnaize event.
Good luck in your future endeavors.

  48. Coorection: I am connected with two De La salle schools in the South and I didnt see posters or announcements. I just learned about the Animo run thru ph.takbo.
I believe there are a lot of running enthusiasts from other La salle schools.

  49. i registered for this run but i was not able to run coz i was out of town.
buti pla di ako nagising nung sunday early morning para humabol dito.
good thing i chose to spend quality time with my family instead.
plus it was raining so it was not safe for a long drive.
Thank God i missed this run.

but still what the organizers of 9th animo run is a gross neglect of their duty to see to it that their participants are not in any danger of whatsoever.

  52. Coach jeoffrey, we would like to hear your comments on these critisms, I too felt this was a very disorganized running event-putting it kindly, I stayed for the awarding ceremonies and it took almost 2 hours – and dami kasing disputes ng mga podium finishers. Hope the organizers would say something about this…

  53. I originally registered sa Red Cross but eventually ran sa QCIM due to Free Kit provided by a blog site.

    make it positive guys..

it’s really unacceptable in a run event na hindi sapat ang hydration stations. it’s just too dangerous for us runners.
di kayang pantayan ng medals at shirts yung safety ng runners.

Please consider this as constructive critism.

  61. kaya ko walang hydration for 10k pero 21k hindi na.. ayaw ko isacrifice health ko kaya sumuko na agad ako for almost 10k run kahit na 21k ako.., sayang bayad daming kulang.. sana next time pag aralan maigi ang route, etc. imagine pang 9 na ito pero sablay parin.., organizers wake up… kayo kaya tumakbo ng 21k na walang hydration.

    madami kayong palpak…,

  62. well what can i say?!!

    FAILED for me…

    1) 21k route

    ——————–

nakakatuwang isipin… pang siyam nyo na to tapos first time nyo nag introduce ng 21km… and yet walang hydration?! anong klase yan..

  64. Congrats to the 21k finishers who really finished their race.I saw a lot of 21k finishers with medal on their neck without having any sweat.sabi nga “no sweat” hehehe. Hat’s off to my fellow 21k runner who offered their water to me just after baclaran over pass.Worst run i ever attended. But the fun with my fellow runners, ayos..habang tumatakbo, panay ang complain sa mga sarili.hehehe. dami nagsisi.

  67. @Khen
The gimmick of the Red Cross run is that there were actually 3 starting lines located in Manila, Makati and Paranaque. I was on the Roxas starting line and early on I’ve realized how very disorganized the Red Cross event was. The announcer was having a tough time informing the crowd that we will be sharing the road with this event due to technical difficulties (very bad sound system) and a very indifferent crowd (mostly made up of high school teachers and students, and Red Cross volunteers, majority of which has probably never been to a fun run event).

As the Animo runners came into view, the announcer desperately tried to have the crowd clear the road. But the crowd turned to uzi mode. Instead of backing away from the center of the road, they all moved towards it to get a glimpse of the Animo runners. The first ones were lucky because the crowd did eventually parted about an arm’s reach for them, the last ones were left to struggle.

I guess, what we can all take from this is to best avoid a Red Cross fun run and events that are simultaneously scheduled with it.

  68. I’m really waiting for all these comments… and all what have said/written is true… ano pa ang aasahan nating race results?… eh di palpak din…. my worst 21k ever….marshals daw nito eh Runner’s Link..na kung tutuusin eh mga veteran runners na din… wala silang pakialam…
I have also clarified the route one week prior to race day… sabi nyo walang problema…paging Mr. JChua…

  69. kala ko maganda yung half marathon. 3 times alang ako nakainom for a 21km run.. so dissapointed. madami pang nandaya kasi walang masyadong marshal at walang bnibigay kahit lace manlang sa turning point..

  70. well, sadly maraming minuses but just to be fair, I ran with my 10k running buddies and we enjoyed the ccp-roxas blvd route, we just need to learn from the mistakes of the past :) and to the organizers — be aware of all the feedbacks (both positive, meron ba? & negative) here and learn from them. When can we see the race results, bawi na lang kau to post them earlier.

  73. How much of the proceeds will go to Tahanang Walang Hagdan? Just give us our money back less the proceeds for the charity, or just give Tahanan all the money.

    The race was just worthless.

  74. THIS IS THE WORST FUN RUN OF THE YEAR!

ALL THE BASIC NEED FOR PLANNING A FUN RUN EVENT, ALL FAILED!

Starting Time: Late na nag simula

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN FUN RUN EVENT!

Restrooms: No restroom kahit isa (What the Hell). Dati meron, marumi naman at mabaho.

Hydration Station: Pinakamasaklap, wala kahit isa

    Medical Station: No also

Route: Failed also, alam dapat ng organizer na kung may kasabay fun run event, dapat meron silang back-up planned at planuhin ng maaga para di maguluhan ang mga runners.

    “ALL FAILED!“

  75. even our team we support animo but it ends nothing.. sana kahit isang comment man lang from organizer para naman mabawasan badtrip ng runners.. I just want to share this.. dahil sa huge crowd ng red cross pagsiksik ko nawala isang hydration bottle ko.. ayan kung nag usap sana organizer ng red cross at animo hindi mangyayari ito.., problemado pa tuloy ako bumili ulit ng isang NATHAN hydration bottle sa R.O.X nyan..,

  76. Super kakaluka ang naranasan ko..my first run for 21k shit grabe subra nadismaya ako all my co-runners hirap tapusin ang race dahil walang tubig. But i finish my race pa rin di ko dinaya.. Rest assure next time year mag fun run pa rin di na!!!! dapat dry run tawag tinipid nyo kami pinahirapan nyo kami mga co-runners namin…lalangawin kayo next year you’ll see…

  77. To the Organizers

    2. Sana po nakipag coordinate kayo sa Redcross regarding the route since parehong lanes naman yung sarado sa sasakyan, o kung hindi man nag assign kayo ng sapat marshals na mag aassist sa runners, ni wala nga akong nakitang marshal papuntang UN ave.

    :)

  78. Jay Jay prespective…to organizer dlsu running club… pls take note and listen carefully… this is so terrible el terrible.. why don’t you ask for advice to mam michelle estuar she’s from DLSU Taft alumni and one of the best facilitator and best runner. last nov. 30 on her birthday wow awesome fund raising run for only 100 pesos donation for tuloy foundation. The run is very well organized lots of hydration station. its really good. plus free snacks and free shirt..
dumating ka nakangiti, tumatakbo ka nakangiti. at uuwe ka nakangiti…two tumbs up.. d katulad kahapon. tatakbo ka nakasimangot, at sumisigaw kang TUBIG!!..at uuwe kng nakasimangot….so next time dlsu pls ask for a piece of advice to your alumni esp. the team of mam michelle estuar, if u make it.. gaganda ulit ang image nyo sa mga runners. Thank GOD all runners yesterday all of them finished the run and safe.

  79. all negative!!! good thing, my instinct said – “DON’T JOIN here”…kawawa naman mga runners, most especially dun sa 21k event…my brother joined the 21k event, and guess what – nangingitim na raw mga kuko nya, buti na lang daw, may isang volunteer dun na nagbibigay ng ice – dun sya naka-survive hanggang sa finish…sana next time, planuhing mabuti ng DLSU Running Club ang mga ganitong failures, kasi for sure, konti na lang magjo-join next year…Sayang, dala-dala nyo pa naman ang name ng school…
