Good news for Bikers hoping for a Bike Lane along Commonwealth Avenue, it may soon be a reality for all of us, here’s the article from Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – A cycling enthusiast-turned-congressman is urging the Metro Manila Development Authority and the Department of Public Works and Highways to designate bicycle lanes along the 12.4-kilometer Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City

“Commonwealth Avenue is ideal for bicycle lanes. It is much wider than EDSA,” cycling patron and now Rep. Arnel Ty of the party-list group LPG Marketers’ Association said yesterday.

He said the 20-lane avenue, which has been labeled a “killer” highway due to the numerous accidents along its stretch, can accommodate bike lanes as it is now the country’s widest road.

“More people will surely be encouraged to use bicycles once they can safely and efficiently travel on Commonwealth on dedicated lanes,” he said.
