Current Heart Rate Monitor technology allows us to easily monitor our heart rates, but did you know that the heart of an average female beats faster than an average male?

Our heart at rest normally beats between 70 – 85 times per minute, where the average male heart rate is between 70-72 bpm, and the average male heart rate is between 78 – 82 bpm, this difference in frequency is due to the size of the heart, where females typically have a smaller size than males, and with a smaller heart, it means more beats is needed to pump the same amount of blood into the body compared to a larger heart.
